The world's best short-track speedskaters will compete for four days in Salt Lake City at the Short Track World Qualifier. The event will determine the number of skaters who will compete for each nation in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The competition schedule at the Delta Center includes men's and women's 1,500 meters, 6 p.m., Thursday; men's and women's 500 meters, 6 p.m. on Friday; men's and women's 1,000 meters, 6 p.m., Saturday; and men's and women's relays, 1 p.m. on Sunday.
At the qualifier, countries can earn up to two slots per Olympic event. The United States has already prequalified its relay teams.
Competition will feature American Apolo Anton Ohno, the 2001 men's overall World Cup winner and runner-up at the 2001 World Short Track Championship. On the women's side is China's Tang Yang (A), the four-time women's World Cup champion.
