Kass, Dunn win qualifying meet

      Reigning U.S. Grand Prix snowboard champion Danny Kass won the first Olympic halfpipe qualification meet in Mammoth Mountain, Calif., on Thursday.
      Kass of Hamburg, N.J., edged 1998 Olympic medalist Ross Powers of South Londonderry, Vt.; Andy Finch of Fresno, Calif., was the third American in a field of 111 riders.
      On the women's side, Olympic medalist Shannon Dunn of Carnelian Bay, Calif., was the top finisher. She edged Tricia Byrnes, New Canann, Conn., while 1998 Olympian Michele Taggart, Salem, Ore., was third.
