Associated Press

OBERHOF, Germany — Becky Wilczak and Tony Benshoof, bronze medalists at the 2001 World Championships, are among nine athletes who have qualified for the U.S. Olympic luge team for Salt Lake City.
Wilczak, Ashley Hayden and Courtney Zablocki met Olympic team standards in women's singles, as did the men's doubles teams of Mark Grimmette and Brian Martin and Chris Thorpe and Clay Ives. Men's singles competitors Benshoof and Adam Heidt also qualified.
The U.S. team coaching staff will meet this week to fill the remaining men's singles spot.
All three women's singles spots, both doubles teams and two of the three singles slots will be submitted to the U.S. Olympic Committee for approval.
