Ankle bracelet notes some biathlete times

Associated Press

With as many as 120 skiers pushing off on an Olympic cross country course, keeping track of each athlete's time can be difficult.
Tracking athletes in the biathlon is even more complicated. They can lose time or get forced onto a penalty loop for missing rifle targets.
Now, for the first time at the Olympics, electronic ankle bracelets about the size of a matchbox are being used to measure some athletes' times.
"We put one on each leg because we don't know which leg will cross the line first," said Andrew Barton of Seiko, the Olympic sponsor providing timing gear.
