Women's hockey: Canada shuts out Russia

Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY — Defending silver medalist Canada, led by two goals from Danielle Goyette, defeated Russia 7-0 on Wednesday for its second straight Olympic victory.
The loss dropped the Russians to 0-2, making their chances for a medal precarious at best. The Canadians dominated from start to finish, with a half-dozen players scoring.
It was the second straight 7-0 romp for the Canadians, who opened the games with a victory over Kazakhstan. Canadian goalie Sami Jo Small faced only six shots, while the Canadians fired 60 shots on the Russian net.
Canada next plays against Sweden, while the Russians take on Kazakhstan.
