Women's hockey: Germany, China skate to tie

Associated Press

PROVO, Utah — Michaela Lanzl had two goals, the second with 1:41 to play, as Germany scored three straight third period goals Saturday to rally to a 5-5 tie against China in the Olympic women's hockey tournament.
The tie gave Germany (0-2-1) the third seed in Group B — and a matchup with winless Kazakstan — by virtue of its minus-12 goal differential. China (0-2-1) gave up 15 more goals than it scored. Both teams are out of medal contention.
China will face Russia (1-2) for a chance to play in the fifth-place game.
Rui Sun had two goals and two assists, Hongmei Liu scored twice and Guo Hong made 26 saves for China.
Christina Oswald and Maritta Becker each had a goal and an assist for Germany. Esther Thyssen stopped 19 shots for Germany in the first two periods, and Stephanie Wartosch-Kurten had four saves in the third.
