Junior high student becomes sports reporter
KSL-TV
A Bonneville Junior High School 8th grader is fulfilling her Olympic dream by getting a shot as a sports reporter.
Madison Coburn is in the thick of it all as one of the Teen Newsweek's kid correspondent's covering the Games.
The "Weekly Reader" offers students a chance to see what it's like to be a reporter covering a major event.
"It's been a lot funner than I expected," she says. "I was really excited when I found out. But actually doing it isn't really different. But it's really fun."
For the last few weeks, Coburn has been rubbing shoulders with reporters and athletes from around the world.
Recently the 14-year old sat down for a one-on-one interview with a young dancer, Elysse Carlson, who appeared in the Opening Ceremonies.
