Gold-medal goals

USA 1, CANADA 0 (1st, 8:49) — Doug Weight dived to swat the puck up to Tony Amonte in the neutral zone. Amonte rushed to the right side and got the shot past Rob Blake and off the pads of goalie Martin Brodeur.

USA 1, CANADA 1 (1st, 14:50) — Chris Pronger sent a pass to the middle to Mario Lemieux. Instead of taking the puck, Lemieux faked everyone by letting it slide under his stick to Paul Kariya. Kariya scored on a hard one-timer from the left circle.

CANADA 2, USA 1 (1st, 18:33) — After Joe Sakic fired the puck at the net, Jarome Iginla sneaked in and pushed it into the net behind Brian Leetch and past a diving Mike Richter.

USA 2, CANADA 2 (2nd, 15:30) — On a power play, Brian Rafalski took a pass from Brett Hull and sent a low slap shot at the goal. The puck ricocheted off the blade of Pronger and off the pads of Brodeur.

CANADA 3, USA 2 (2nd, 18:19) — Sakic put the Canadians ahead for good late in the second when his wrist shot hit Leetch and deflected under the blocker arm of Richter on a power play.

CANADA 4, USA 2 (3rd, 16:01) — Coming out of the penalty box, Steve Yzerman found Iginla, who then found the back of the net barely when his shot from the circle hit Richter's glove and slid just inside the post.

CANADA 5, USA 2 (3rd, 18:40) — An icing-on-the-cake breakaway goal for Sakic, who made a move on Gary Suter and zipped a shot past Richter.
