You can lead a horse or a fullback to water but you can't.................(you all know the story). Sad case, he had lots of time and chances to get his life right, yet didn't. Tonga without a 180 is going to repeat the same scenarios the rest of his life, I hope he can make that change of direction,
JJ will be a star, regardless of what happens to other players. I'm willing to wager he's the type of kid who once in the lineup will never leave.

perhaps Tonga wanted time off. he has a season to redshirt. he wanted to focus academically this season, rest a few injuries, etc.
otherwise this mishap falls squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff. the POSH academic environment created for the cougar semipro football players (like all other div 1 football programs) is designed to get these kids into med school if they want with half the effort of the regular students. this is a total snafu on BYU's part. heavenly days....

If the system is in place to avoid something like this happening, where did we fail all those who spend so many hours to bring a program like this to the top. This is big, but will be handled as though he got injured and redshirted. Keep up the good work. As coach Edwards once said. There are alot of things that had to fall in place just right to have won the national championship in 1984. Those that are involved in the system in whatever part of it cannot question the value of their contribution. Most importantly we are building men. Good luck Cougars.

I'd love to see DiLuigi get some good reps and Latu also. Let's put Bronco's plug-and-play philosophy into action. It's got to be a great motivator for those lower on the depth chart. Let's let all these back-ups know that they'll get the best execution to offense can produce--every chance to succeed.

Have you heard anything about Plaistead hiring an agent? I think that is a HUGE mistake, because I don't think he will be drafted.
