The timing of this movie leaves very little doubt that it is nothing more than Hollywood's attempt to destroy support for Mitt Romney and attack the Mormon Church in the process. Why don't they make a movie about the massacre of hundreds of innocent Indians by union soldiers at Sand Creek Colorado?

I agree with Mr. Hildoer. What better timing? Also, this Patrick fellow, how can anyone agree with him after seeing the trailor? The movie portrays Brigham Young as a power hungry leader. "I am the voice of God and anyone (who)doesn't like it will be hewn down." "Jehovah created me to be your God on Earth" (I'm not sure if thats the exact quote.)How is that not bias? However, it does present all LDS people wonderful teaching opportunities. Be sure to study it and know the facts and have your testimony ready.

I will see the film. As a descendent of John D. Lee i am interested in not covering up any longer the mountain meadows massacre. We as a family have carried the burden for 150 years, about time others help carry the load including the LDS Church of which I am a faithful member of, but no longer can conceal this tragedy and pretend it didn't happen. Honesty is always the best policy.

It is pure paranoia to think this film was made to derail the Mitt Romney campaign for president. It takes years to get a movie made and Romney only recently announced his run for president. As for the quotes in the movie I doubt they are absolutely accurate, but the Mormon church certainly does teach that it's leaders are living prophets and their word should be strictly adhered too.As for movies about Sand Creek you can start with the 1956 movie "Massacre at Sand Creek".

The most powerful Democrat in the nation The Honorable Harry Reid (Senate Majority Leader) is Mormon. Things cut both ways. GOP or Democrat

I agree with Bill's statement regarding Harry Reid and how it does cut both ways. It isn't about derailing Mitt Romney or any other political candidate. This is about making a movie that is based on a true story that breaks through decades of cover up to expose a story kept out of the history books. All Americans, regardless of political party or religion should learn the truth. The movie being released may not be accurate word for word, however, the overall tragedy that occurred is based on an actual event that has proven to be one of the worst massacres in American history.

Please: LDS people are generally a good cross-section of the "better side" of our world. I know and live around them and have done so for most of my life. Honest, hard-working, generous with good work ethics and tithing, chaste - etc. etc. etc.

Would someone please explain to me how they can believe in their basic religious tenants? Polygamy (eternally still a basic belief, being practiced today as thousands of LDS men are currently sealed to more than one woman when current spouses die. Women are not allowed this practice, and for the rare few women that are sealed to more than one man in this manner, it is with the understanding that they must choose only one in heaven.

Black skin being a curse from God because of something the infected person did wrong in the life before this mortal existence.

Brown skin of the Lamanites: a similar curse put on the supposed ancestors of the American Indians because they were slothful and killed off God's chosen people - the Nephites.

Jesus is going to return and rule the Earth from two different command / control centers: one in Jerusalem, and the other in Jackson County Missouri.

Jackson County Missouri is the original site of the Garden of Eden.

Joseph Smith actually translated Egyptian transcripts from a traveling mummy show in the 1440's, and created the "Pearl of Great Price": a book included in Mormon Scriptures. Note: please read this short book to get further education and (sic) humor.

Traveling, oceanic Hebrews also settled the Hawaiian Islands.

Temple rituals, promises, hand shakes, death threats etc.

Three kingdoms of Heaven - and people in the lower ones aren't allowed to visit upper kingdoms. But the Celestial people are allowed to visit lower kingdoms.
