Thanks for this great article! The news about the Osmonds performing after 25 years brought back memories of my adoration of all the Osmonds when I was a teenager. It was great to read about Marie and to find out about what she has done after the end of the Donny and Marie show. The details about her life and her kids are great. It would be nice to see a snapshot of her family.

i think that marie is doing very well without her former husband brian because she comes from a good mormon family she has got all of her brothers alan wayne merrill jay donny jimmy and her two older brothers that are deaf and they are called virl and tommy and she has got two good parents whos names are george and olive but sadly her mother olive died a fews years ago but her father george is still alive and they have the same birthday the 13th of october and they and the rest of the osmonds belong to the church of jesus christ of latter day saints

Marie: It has been so wonderful for me to see you on Dancing with the Stars. You will continue to get my votes everytime. We all know that you do not have to win the Dancing with the Stars contest to prove anything. You've already proven too all of us who love you, just how special you are. You are not only a beautiful woman outside, but also on the inside - the way you have lived your life proves this. I love you because you have such high moral standards, and your talents and gifts bring such joy to others. The biggest thing that makes you so special is that it's also plain to see that God is in your life. May He bless and keep you and your family in His care, always.
Love and blessings to you,

Sometimes seeing others triumph in tragedy helps
us put our own lives in perspective. I am LDS,
not active, but ironically live the principles.
My husband is agnostic, and unlike the norm, watched
the show tonight because of the infinity I felt
in watching what I knew was true family unity
interwoven by principles taught that are so
uniquely simple yet profound. I am so proud of
you all, and my husband was touched I felt by
your generous spirits, humility, love for each
other, and you just were blessed to have the close
knit families we always dreamed of having but
weren't blessed with. I suppose you became our
surrogate family, and inspire. It was a treat.
You are all beautiful, and it is obvious your
parents created a home filled with love. God
bless you for holding to standards in spite of
everyday challenges. You give us hope. And a
desire to let that spirit once again lead the
way. Our children are such blessings, and look at
you....I raised two alone, and it was a feat, and
I see your family and wish I could have had what
you have. BLESS YOU ALL...Oprah too!

Dear Marie, I am now 61 yrs old and just now found out the beautiful voice of the young singer that sang paper roses was you! I was very young and often wonderd about who sang that one song. I like you, have suffered tremendously, starting when my mom got breast cancer at 34, and how I at the tender age of thirteen helped my dad take care of her. She passed away at age 39. I would come from school to cook for my siblings. I was the oldest. After my mom passed away I married, and made some bad choices. I've been married now for 26 yrs to a husband that suffers from ptsd, and it's been hell! But I've always said the words, "God has given me a lot of suffering so that I could better understand others!" I have suffered financially, spritually, and physically, but I'v learned that what won't kill me will only make me stronger.
Best of luck to you.
Maria
Best of luck to you.
Maria
Yawn!!! | 1:07 a.m. Nov. 15, 2007
I think I am overdosing on sugar here. Why is it that when someone is even remotely famous that all of a sudden they work hard?? She comes from a wealthy family, was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and now singing is somehow working hard..... Hey, people who clean toilets, they work hard, plumbers, road workers they work hard. Entertainers??? Oh, boo hoo. Try working three jobs at a fast food place to support your family - whoops, sorry forgot, your on Dancing with the Stars, thats got to be a real killer.

What's with running articles in today's paper from 2004 & 2006? Am I the only one who noticed that they are out of date? "Marie Osmond, Yesterday & Today" was published, according to the date on the article, Dec. 16, 2006. "Mother Osmond" Laid To Rest, was published May 15, 2004.
All of the Osmonds are amazing in my book, but Des. News, some of it's NOT NEWS!

Marie was NOT born with a silver spoon in her mouth, the family were NOT wealthy when they started. I agree about the other stuff, though.

Dear Young Grandma,
They are on the most popular list because people are searching them out because of the Dancing with the Stars publicity.
Most popular lets you know what people are reading, not what is news or newsworthy

Went to the Concert in SLC | 11:13 a.m. Nov. 15, 2007
Last December we saw the Concert that this article
mentions in the Energy Solutions Arena. Although it was not a sell out audience, there were lots of people there. Even special recognition was made to George Osmond, (the family's father) who was in the back of the auditorium.
It was a Great Show!! (A Great Christmas Show)!!
Thanks to Marie and Friends and Family!!!

Marie, It is so wonderful watching you on "Dancing With the Stars" . My wife and I love the show and being in the same age bracket, we've been awe struck by your incredible dancing talent. We both grew up watching you and your brothers and are inspired by your love of family and good, clean entertainment. Stay strong through these difficult challenges you have recently experienced. You are blessed to have such wonderful brothers and strong faith. We love you and you are in our prayers.

Marie,
Loved you since childhood ....and we did grow up together! I'm a young 49, next time you're in Chicago I'll take you to Mom's for dinner! My prayers are with you, lost my father too, no words are adequate for that loss. But remember the tears will soon be replaced with memories. I know...my Mom and I find ourselves laughing now, & I can imagine how many hilarious memories you will all of a sudden remember! God Bless, Sincerely, Gail

Marie,
I find you an inspiration as I see you juggling your family life with your professional life. I only pray that you find the balance in it all for yourself, because as I listen to the media, I sense the pressure they place upon you to be "perfect". We all know that isn't how life works. Bumps, bruises, tears, joys and at the end of the day we are simply just who we are. I just wanted you to know that who you are is enough. Take care. You are a joy.

Marie, you're awesome. I am enjoying watching you on "Dancing with the Stars." You look fabulous. I've been trying to find your book but was told it's out of print. So I'll search for it on E-Bay or Amazon. My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your wonderful father. Wish I had a Dad like that. I am praying for Michael and his recovery and hoping he will be back in the loving arms of his family soon.

My hat is off you! I am a single mom with two wonderful kids; they keep me going. It is tough but someone has to do it. I know you love your kids and your family very much and this is what is all about. It is for our childrend and family. Keep that smile and just push foward. I pray for Michael's speedy recovery. Problems are given to us to learn and grow from it.

Im from Mexico, did not grew up with the Osmond's music (Im 62- but some how, don;t remember when I started to hear and read and listen to their music and lives and I just ended up being a fan I think they are such a nice family...very real and candid..they have their trials and tribulations , but why should they not,? they are humans..before the news about Donny reacting to Larry kings show, as I was watching the show I could see they were caught off guard..they conducted themselves good and adored Donny's reaction(everybody should be so lucky to have him for a brother..

I enjoyed reading this article again. I think that Marie has come even further in her life since this was written. Ironically, she announced her divorce right after I filed for a divorce. Being LDS and getting a divorce isn't easy, but I can't even imagine doing it and being famous at the same time. I love the Osmond Family and I am rooting for Marie in Dancing with the Stars!

Great article. There's so much 'noise" around the Osmonds and especially Marie lately that it's nice to read something so well written and balanced. Loved Dancing with the Stars and I'm glad Marie made the finals. Third place is awesome. Wish the 2007 christmas tour was near me.. oh well. Thanks!

I would like to say congratulations on making into last week's finals during " Dancing With The Stars " against Melanie B. ( a.k.a. " Scary Spice " ) and Helio Castroneves . Even though both did an excellent job creating different characters from each of your dance performances including " freestyle " with the endless hours of rehearsals until 1 or 2 a.m. in the morning but managed to pull it all off onto the floor which I was so impressed by watching on television . Although, these judges wasn't sure enough about you dressing up as a real life doll maker ( designer ) from the beginning of the freestyle, however you own a $100 million dollar business world wide didn't won the entire show as well .

Dear Beautiful Marie! If you only knew the many times I was "Marie Osmond" when we would sing as kids in Minnesota. We are the same age and our children are around the same ages. It is not easy with teenagers and especially when you are under a microscope. I watch everything you do and when you were on dancing with the stars....I never missed a show! I wish to have coffee with you some day as we have a lot in common. My prayer is that God continues to give you strength. We DIVAS need a lot of support. From one Diva to another....my hat is off to you. Hang in there Girly!

Marie, On the news you said you read the Bible a lot & you think drug addiction/use/problems are one of the plagues God speaks of. I agree. God bless you for saying that out loud. I pray for the help & recovery of everyone who's lost their way.

I always loved watching the Donny and Marie show...and thought she was a good country singer. But when I heard her on the Osmond special on PBS recently, I was absolutely amazed at the range of her voice. Her singing is beautiful! And her smile brightens a place like the sun breaking through the clouds. She is blessed with much talent. I wish they would come back to tv again.

Meaning no disrespect, but . . . . Ms. Osmond mentioned after working 16 hours on the Donny and Marie show, when she'd get home, her Mom would say "let's make some bread." Wasn't that a little inconsiderate, as no doubt Ms. Osmond was no doubt tired?
Please, if I may ask. Ms. Osmond has a great talent and has accomplished much in her life. And no doubt will accomplish more.
But has she ever wanted to be a stay-home wife and mom, instead of an entertainer, and has she ever had the choice to do so?
