Need divergent opinions | 10:55 a.m. Nov. 2, 2007
Our democracy fails if we don't allow divergent thinking - it is the process. New perspectives get generated, unintended consequences get vetted, it is much harder to make bad decisions when multiple views are considered. I actually think it's great council members disagree - so I will be voting to retain Steve Turley.
Desrespected Homeowner | 1:51 p.m. Nov. 2, 2007
George Stewart disrespects neighborhoods, homeowners, voters, taxpayers, and signed petitions. He smothers homeowners with his personal opinions and ignores their desires. Oh, and their rights!
Why would anyone want his endorsement unless they have similar issues with unrighteous dominion! Oh, and respect!

I agree with the previous three. It seems that what this council desteratly needs are people who will disagree with "the King". These are some of the most petty "Jr High" comments I have ever read attributed to people who are not only supposed to be adults, but are supposed to be our leaders. I hope this article will help people wake up and fifure out who they really want representing them and vote their gut and not the "bumper stickers"

I think before you endorse Mr. Turley, or any existing candidate, you should take a good long look at their voting record. I guarantee that if you think George Stewart is anti-neighborhood, you'll be horrified with Steve Turley's voting record. Search the provoelections07 website--take a look.

In the full decade that i ahave been watching provo City Coucnil, George Stewart and I have gone head to head on occasion, but it has never got nasty or personal. When Midge disagrees with him, it gets very unpleasant, So he does not want to work with her any longer. Neither do other Council members, staff members, administration and department heads.
32 donors gave me less than $50, so she would NOT know who they are. I appreciate George Stewart's willingness to go public. I do not always agree with him, but I have to admit, he's got "chutzpa."
Midge Johnson and Steve Turley both have two habits which I do not care for AT ALL.
--They say one thing, while actually doing another. (Go to votemelanie.com to read Turley and Johnson's voting records.)
--They ascribe motives to other people's actions when they cannot actually know. (Re-read the article above; you'll see it: "He wants, they think, she's just trying to..." It constitutes unjust judgement.

Hi Melanie, I would like to hear a specific example of what you are claiming about Midge being " nasty or personal". People are correct when they say that the public doesn't know what goes on behind the scenes but I would like something more specific than what you have cited.
Also, I seem to remember that other people made similar comments about King george when he was Mayor. Do you? Thanks for your input.

It should be surprising to EVERYONE how blatant and obvious his motives for endorsing certain candidates.
George's kingdom on the council is already too powerful... please don't support his efforts to expand his kingdom!
