Pardon me for a negative response, but when you place this one action, where the BLM actually did the right thing, against the backdrop of vast devastation that the agency has allowed under the Bush Administration, well - I just don't see sending them a bouquet yet. If it becomes a consistent trend, I'll start celebrating.

Somehow the idea of record energy costs that hurt the poorest members of our society seems to me to deserve higher priority than recreational activities like hiking and hunting. Especially in view of the amount of mitigation and restoration required in return for developing oil and gas wells. I have a hard time accepting that the common good is enhanced by increasing the cost of living for all.

I would like to invite anyone from this paper to see the oil and gas developement south of Vernal. After seeing the destruction we will see if you are so quick to pat the BLM on the back.
