What a great idea! I spend way too much time sorting through and throwing away catalogs--as do many others judging by how full the garbage can is a my small-town post office. If I want these products, I know where to find them on-line. I just signed up. . .

Gidday,
Just to clarify a note about the DMA's Mail Preference Service. Your name will only be removed from those companies that are members of the DMA, which is about 3600 and they are not all catalogs. The DMA also does not include credit cards or insurance offers.
At stopthejunkmail.com we have over 9000 direct mail and catalog companies listed today which you can opt out of selectively so you can better define your direct mail preferences.

To be clear - the 41pounds.org service includes removing your name from the DMA list, along with dozens of other direct mail lists. You can contact the DMA yourself and pay the $1, but that will not stop all your junk mail (only stops the companies who join DMA). 41pounds.org stops catalogs, credit card applications, etc. etc. etc. and donates more than 1/3 of the fee to the nonprofit organization you choose.
