I am a cougar fan. So for one of the Utes games I root for the other team but the rest of the year a Utah man am I. They have done so well this year. Brian Johnson is a stud. I WANT to Utes to do very well against Navy and make it eight in a row. Go Utes.

Thanks Reuel. You are certainly one of a few classey cougar fans.

I do not think it is kosher for anybody who routes for the cougz against the Utes to use the term "Utah Man am I". The support for the bowl game is welcome none the less.

From a BYU fan, best of luck in the bowl game Utah. I will be cheering for both teams and hope that our successes will help the conference and television situation.

Positive comments from a classy BYU fan. I see these occasionally and am grateful for them. I as a UTE fan love the rivalry, my neighbors and I have a fun time with it. Nothing of a mean spirited nature is ever said or done, mainly just decorating the yard of fans with the opposing team's colors or logos. I also post positive comments about the BYU articles. I have found that I am about the only one who does so. Why is this? I can definitely say that there are by far more positive comments by BYU fans about the U then the opposite. Is there so much hatred that only a few Ute fans can bring themselves to post positive comments about BYU? I wish both teams success in their bowl games. Let us not forget that the biggest common enemy is the BCS.

My daughter used to play on the U soccer team. I am embarrassed to say that on many occasions, the U crowd erupted in an F*** BYU chant. I have never witnessed similar treatment from the BYU crowd when we played down south. yes they may have been loud and some may think a bit arrogant, but I have never heard them chant derogatory words at the U team or their fans. We have a proud athletics tradition at the U, I hope our fans can also begin to display a tradition of good sportsmanship at all games.

I'm a Ute fan that can say positive things about BYU-Provo. They have a really good team, and they seem like decent people. But why would I root for them? For the good of the conference? I don't particularly care about the conference - I really just care about the Utes. New Mexico's victories have never brought my Utes respect in the past; why do people think they will now? BSU's great chance last year did not come because people respected that Nevada had a good record against BCS teams. It came because BSU won all its games. Same with Utah in 2004. You win, you get respect, regardless of your conference. It's every team for itself in College Football.

RE: Embarrassed U Fan - Just so you are aware it goes both ways. More so than you think! Two years ago my 6 year old nephew walked out of the game and a BYU fan in what appeared to be his late 30's ran up to him and screamed in his face...."GET A NEW TEAM LOOSER, YOU TEAM SUCKS A**!!!!". Real mature. Then this year at the game I was the only person for 20 rows wearing a red shirt, when the Utes came on the field I cheered and 3 fans sitting 2 rows below me stood up and told me to "shut your d*** mouth" while pulling a Joe Glenn and flipping me the bird. Classy!! 2 Years ago I recall all of the BYU fans chanting "Over rated" when Eric Weddle was introduced at Rice Eccles on Senior Day. Again, real classy!
Bottom line, we both have fans we wished we didn't. BYU fans are not better than Utah fans.
Ruel Jones: Thanks for the classy remark! It's nice to see fans get along. I to wish the cougs luck in Vegas.

I have been to several U soccer games and I never heard such a chant! I think you are making stuff up. Why? I have been to several events at the U against the Y and all I have ever seen is 1 or 2 fans being rude, but never a large organized chant like that. People seem to forget a LARGE number of U students are LDS as well. BYU is not the only school in the state that has LDS students.

It's to bad Brian Johnson had the shoulder injury this year, very first game. Although Whittingham's comments that "his shoulders about 90%" most of time, in reality, Brian was really hurting the entire year. Therefore, he was just a shadow of the player he really is. He could not pass, and the coaches would not let him run to protect him from further possible damage just to keep him playing because of his leadership. With a healthy B.J. next year the Utes' offense will be very hard to contain.

UCLA could easily, (OK with a lot of effort) be 2-0 vs. BYU this year. I resect BYU's players, coaches, but not their fans. I 15 north bound will be no place to be after the cougar faithful come home with their tails between their legs.
GO UTES, BRUINS

At this point of the season the only rivalry anyone in the MWC should be concerned with is with the other conferences we're playing in the bowls games. So the ONLY gripe should with the BCS committees. I wonder if a Congressional Investigation into the anti-trust nature of the BCS would do any good?
Other than that sportsmanship and classiness on both side of the rivalry could definely improve.

That's just a BYU fan trying to make Utah fans look bad. No worries, I am so glad that I am a Ute fan and I will always be proud of it.

I attended all of my daughter's home games for four years. This chanting of vulgarities by Ute fans happened on multiple occasions.

On behalf of BYU fans everywhere, I would like to apologize for the bahavior of a BYU fan toward your son. I have been a BYU season ticket holder for years. I have never witnessed behavior like you have described from BYU fans or from any opposing fans. When I arrive at a game, I look for any visitors and personally welcome them to the game. I have had many nice conversations with opposing fans. I hope we all can not get carried away with the rivalry.

Who cares about these games. It's all about the money. Doesn't prove anything anyways. Play a game, pick up a check. Big deal. The season's over. Woof.

I've heard Ute fans chant vulgarities. I've heard Wyoming fans do it. I'm sure others have done it. It's wrong, but some I think feel it's a way to really be "in your face" when it comes to BYU.
What some or a few do shouldn't color everyone. There are bad apples in every group.
