I can't believe that there is only one response to this article. I, too, am a victim of domestic abuse and I was able to remove my husband before he hurt me permanently. He tried to kill me a couple of times, but was mostly physically and emotionally abusive. After a 7 year divorce process, I was just recently asked by a church authority if I have forgiven him and would allow him return. Not that he wants to, just would I let him. I told him that I value my life and will not consider having him back.
What will it take for people and religious authorities to understand that when someone is physically violent that the marriage has to end.
Evidently from the response to this article, not many people are much concerned about domestic violence. There are approximately 20 shelters in Utah with over 10,000 women and children who go through them per year. How many more shelters need to be built; How many lives need to be lost; before this very public problem will get the attention it needs? Time is ticking.

Dear "BeenThere",
I'm a concerned father; Law enforcement is only concerned with covering their backside.
My daughter married a man who definitely needs help. My daughter, his parents, his children (10 and 6), and law enforcement all know it. With my son-in-law’s record, the multiple domestic violence incidents reported by my daughter, along with two wrecks that both were lucky to have survived, you would've thought to be sufficient proof for proper authorities to be convinced that someone was in need of help. Law enforcement has only proved to me one; that they don’t want to get involved, and two; they will cling to, "nothing can be done unless his wife presses charges".
I’ve tried exposing the fact that my son-in-law and my daughter both need help but have failed and only caused myself to be alienated from my daughter and grandchildren by my son-in-law, his parents, my now brainwashed daughter(Whom I still love) and now even one court.
I’d love to share how this one court has helped me fail in my 7yr. $10,000 journey, trying to prove that there is something a parent can do when their abused daughter doesn’t come forward, but I'm @200 words.

Years ago, that would of never happened. Now days, to many law's are for the guilty.
This man should be dead instead of my sister.
