When the NCAA finally announces the results of its investigation into BYU's volleyball program, we should be cautious in passing judgment on any one athlete or coach. As the December hearings were closed, we may not learn the full story from either the NCAA or BYU. Volleyball fans, reporters, and members of the BYU community should be suspicious of attempts to create a scapegoat for activity that likely may have involved many individuals. Please be respectful. Anyone truly familiar with the history of BYU volleyball knows of the difficult path, sacrifice, and challenge that has accompanied the program's rise to success. Navigating the vague and confusing world of NCAAs regulation is no cakewalk. Let's be careful not to demean the character of honest individuals who have dedicated their lives to make this program a sucess, only to be churned under in the competitive, unforgiving, and often political world of competitive sports.
