During my life time in the church I have seen many, many changes. The church today is not the same church of my grandparents. There is still much work and change needed to reform the church for a logical world presense. Monson has the ability and opportunity to change and lead the church into a new world of enlightment and understanding. We wish him well in the tremendous work he has ahead of him.

How come its based on senority? Shouldn't the pick be inspired? This is an opportunity for the LDS church to capitalize on the goodwill Pres Hinckley engendered and the high profile of Mitt Romney. Kind of like when the catholic church pick a Pole, John Paul II. Wasted opportunity if you just stick to senority. My two cents. No offense intended.

The pick is inspired and "expected" to be President Monson. It is not a foregone conclusion though precedent says that it will be him.

The Lord picked him Long ago, why must the Lord be short-sighted and have to pick another now?

I agree that Heavenly Father picked him a long time ago, a very long time ago.
