His motive was simple. He wanted to be famous. Sadly, he got his wish.

I agree with the comment of Elite Sec Prog (don't know what "Elite Sec Prog" means, though).
In the shooter's home, investigators find a gun cleaning kit, a receipt for the shotgun, and his Muslim prayer book. Hmm???
I'm not saying all Muslim's are killers, but I am saying that Americans in general are targeted by some Muslims (or some people who claim to be Muslims and have a history with Islam).
I don't think this is a fact that should or can be overlooked by practical thinkers.

The law enforcement investigation, the media and those on this forum seem to conveniently overlooked an important thing... DRUGS! I'm not talking illicit drugs, I'm talking about the prescription psychotropic drugs!
I'll bet that if the truth be known, this kid was on some kind of meds and either took himself off of them abruptly, had the regime abruptly changed, or the drug simply had a side effect (that's now well established as being part of many psychotropic drugs), and bamm... he emotionally exploded.
This happened with the Columbine shooters, the Atlanta shooter, and a host of other shooters across the nation. How many of you knew that there was a huge out-of-court settlement between the drug companies and the victims families? Yup! That's right, part of the settlement required that a gag-order be in place keeping this important development away from the public.
Is Utah law enforcement and the media got the spine to check this one out and get the truth? It's going to have to happen sooner or later, and the later it is , well... the more innocent lives will be taken.

"Tomorrow would be the happiest day of his life, but that it could only happen once." This quote from the killer to his girlfriend rings of the words of a would-be martyr. The Koran and Hadith (traditions of Muhammed) speak clearly on the subject
Koran 9:5 - ...Kill the un-believers wherever you find them.....
Koran 9:11 - .....death as a martyr or in the cause of Allah ensures salvation.....

These young muslims are promised that in death they will have a level of sensuality that they cannot have in this life, dozens of black eyed virgins.
Does anyone really believe a thorough investigation would not at least point to a motivation?
Islam is a political system much more than it is a religion; it controls ever aspect of its members lives. While not every Muslim is violent, the precepts of the Koran and Hadith preach it, condone, it, encourage it and "reward" it. The history of Islam follows a pattern. We do not study it and most of us do not know the many sieges laid upon the West by Islam. For an example, see the Siege on Vienna of 1683. This modern-day version of the Islamic siege continues world wide.

I praise all the police and fire department on everything they did that night and what may be found in a sealed document that was with held from 1 victims family who were trying to be recognised as victims of crime in the Hunter gun sale that sealed document could hold information that sheds light on this subject for all we know when something is sealed from the court and the public it scares me I hope the documents are made available for all to see secrets and sealed means hide something all of Utah should be demanding these documents handed over for at least the court to see if they have not been altereed

I am a Utah native currently living in the heart of the Middle East and I am amazed at some of the comments made here about Islam. This is a religion that is no more or less violent than Christianity. I seem to remember all the muslim men, women and children being killed when Jerusalem was taken during the crusades.
If anything this kid was driven to do this because of what he learned from the Christianity centric western world
If you want some great scriptures about killing people for religion just take a look in the bible. Muslims admire Mormons because we have many of the same values.
Radicals in any religion have a history of causing trouble. Gratefully Mormons aren't judge by the survivivalists and poligamists. Some of you people have lived in Utah way too long!

I guess if you want to be 'politically correct' you will continue to puzzle over the connection of a Muslin youth from Bosnia and the killing of innocents in a shopping mall. Easier to get a gun than a vest of bombs, I suppose.

My prayers continue to go out to all those who are suffering from this tragedy, be they family friends or the sympathetic stranger. In addition, I pray for all our first responders (Police, EMTs, Firemen, etc.) who will be put into action for yet unknown future events; that they may continue to be safe as they act to help and protect us when and wherever evil makes his presence known to mankind. But most of all, I pray for those whom Satin in attacking, that they may have the strength to fight him off, preventing future bloodsheds.

Why indeed. Hmmm let's see...... young, lonely Muslim male kills five people, wounds four others and essentially commits suicide. No... no pattern there. I sure can't see any current or past conflict that could provoke something like this. Uh... Nope, guess this one will have to remain a great big mystery.
