Another choke point | 7:37 a.m. March 5, 2008
If the 2008 Legislature wants to be known as the one that dropped the ball on the I-15 rebuild, then proceed with this plan. Creating a bottleneck at an entry point to the Salt Lake Valley - something also done when I-15 was rebuilt at the north end of Salt Lake County and Southern Davis County - will only make traffic worse at a point where few alternates exist. How many years has it taken for us to rectify the area between 2300 North and I-215's north interchange? Oh, wait. It hasn't been fixed yet? My mistake. This will cause major traffic headaches in Utah County, not fix them.
Too bad | 8:08 a.m. March 5, 2008
Now traffic will remain a problem for at least the next decade...especially at the Point and from Spanish Fork south.

Funny how they have to rebuild this thing every 2 years.........contractors sure know how to get repeat business around here, as they do shoddy work.
Why not... | 8:44 a.m. March 5, 2008
Just build ANOTHER road so that I-15 is not the ONLY route to go if there's an accident or fire or something. Just seems illogical to keep one and only one major route for such a populated valley???

Why do we need a bond for I-15 repair. Just take the gasoline tax that was imposed prior to the Olympics and use it for what it was intended with a promise to remove the tax once the job is done.

They replaced all the I-15 bridges in northern Utah County a few years ago. The last couple of years they added the carpool lane. Where is the foresight? Why can't they do this stuff all at once and be done with it for 30 years?
Utah County, Obama | 10:28 a.m. March 5, 2008
Utah county, next time you are stuck in traffic in I-15, ask yourself, was voting Republican and extending the war in Iraq, worth diverting that money to causes at home, that could have been funded instead like widening this freeway all the way? Vote Obama
Friends | 11:05 a.m. March 5, 2008
I'm sure they'd build the whole thing now if Greg Curtis had a friend who was in the highway construction business.

Next time you wake up and have a road to drive on that a terrorist didn't blow up maybe you should thank some of the republicans. You have got to be kidding! Up with hope down with you.

This is pathetic UDOT! Once again Utah County is getting struck down. This road has been needing that major construction for quite sometime. To scale back the project is foolish because it is still growing down here and will continue to grow. Fixing about 20 miles of it is just a baby step in what needs to be done and what was planned to be done! It would be better to re-do the entire freeway as planned to prevent further congestion in the years to come. The Utah legislation and UDOT once again fail in my opinion to Utah County's needs!

Why don't they get it right this time and build the whole thing, frontage roads and all.

This is a joke. I want everyone to imagine what this is going to look like: 6 lanes in Salt Lake County feeding into 6 lanes in Utah county, but only 3 lanes over Point of the Mountain. Sure, traffic will flow great once you get into American Fork, but it will take 2 hours to get there.

If you are going to do this, do it right or don't do it at all.

In Iraq we are fighting terrorists, but on their own terms. The succesful part of our war on terrorism consists of evesdroping all around the world and when we find some, perhaps we listen some more to find their friends or perhaps we decide to strike and take them out.

Being in country, in Uniform running around is not a smart way to fight terrorists, Being in Iraq is not the real war on terrorism.

Our reason for going in, weapons of mass destruction was a non reason.

"Why don't they get it right this time and build the whole thing, frontage roads and all".

Why don't we instead we continue to weaken our economy by staying in Iraq, and build only 2 lanes, no frontage roads.

Being there gives a sense of real calm to people who aren't aware of the proper way to fight a war on terrorism.

Vote Obama

Why are we placing all the money into the I-15 rebuild? How come no thought is being given to extending Bangeter South and diverting traffic away from I-15? Look at legacy. The population of Utah County is growing West in the North. If people had the option of going west to Saratoga Springs or Eagle Mountain wouldn't this reduce allot of the bottle neck around the point?
Show up to the meetings | 2:10 p.m. March 5, 2008
I recommend everyone here SHOW UP to the planning meetings which are held all over. UDOT has plans to take care of this but needs the funds to do it.

"Why don't they get it right this time and build the whole thing, frontage roads and all".

Really?! Yes, I agree, but the money needs to be there. People in Utah County need to get active and speak their mind to the decision makers not here at the Des News.
It is All for Downtown Salt Lake | 5:14 p.m. March 6, 2008
The light rails mostly benefit Downtown and Yuppies who work there.

Frontrunner is a SPRAWL PUMP so that Downtown yuppies can keep their big SUV's at home in a different county on their five-acre spread.

All RAils lead to SLC.

UTA is slated to get $17 billion from car user- taxes by 2030. B,ut more rail projects are being added as we write.

What is the predicted share of all trips on UTA by 2030 for $17 billion? A great big 2.34%. (It is shown on what is known as a Mode Choice Table done last year by modeler, Andy Li at WFRC.)

UTA "investments" could easliy rise to over $20 billion by the time of the next Long Range Plans at wfrc and mag.

The average for each Wasatch Front family will be to pay over $17,000 to UTA by 2030.

The averaage number of families along the Wasatch Front over the next 25 years is about one million)
