You know Jim, that is a great article, and the thought is definately there to promote success rather than failure. And yes, 95% of high school teams will go home dissapointed if winning is their only goal, but that being said, I must comment on the duchesne high school basketball program. Coach stan young stepped down this season, and Daron Gatherum did a fine job replacing him. Coach Young had coached for 32 years, and had some of the finest athletes the state had to offer playing for him in eagle blue. However, he has only won one state title in 1989. 1A basketball only has about 15 legitimate teams. Most in region 15 and 16, and occasionally one in another region. So the odds are really better than 5% in 1A. Duchesne has always been one of the biggest 1A schools in the state. I must say that I am a little dissapointed that he hasn't brought home 5 or 6 titles to duchesne. He had amazing teams in 1981, 1994, 1997,2000,2004 and 2007. He should have taken state those years no question. But he didn't, and you bet parents and players are dissapointed by that failure.
