Well, we've got the 1st one of the 5 games at home. This was very important for starting winning series. I hope Memo feels better asap. GO JAZZZZZ

A very nice win sans Memo.
By the end of the week I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz with the 3rd or 4th best record in the west and only 1 - 2 games out of first. Nice to see some key role players getting good minutes.

Deron goes to the bench and Jazz start 4th quarter on 24-4 run. Coincidence? All Williams was doing in 3 quarter was playing by himself, forgeting that there are 4 more guys. Thats why Williams had -6 in +/- rating after the game, because he was hurting team more then helping.
But of course there will be bunch of blind worshipers who will see only 20 pts scored by Deron... As I said many times before as a point guard he loves his own shot to much to be ever considered right replacement for Stockton.

Sinan, you're awesome. I love your enthusiasm and your passion for the Jazz. I love how you love your countryman, Memo. I, too, hope he feels better.

Yeah, hopefully Memo is right to go for the lakers game. Maybe he got sick from those GREEN jerseys the raptors were wearing!!
Go Jazz!! Get a top 2 seed for the finals...

Who is the right replacement for John Stockton? there is and will only ever be one Stockton. Deron williams on the other hand averages over 10 assists a game. Yeah, he loves his shot so much that he is 4th in the league in assists.... that makes sense. He has also eclipsed the 20 assist mark in two different games this season. Ya, hes to in love with his own shot. john stockton averaged 18 points per game one season and was a terrific scorer. He did what the team needed him to do. Deron is the same. Just because he is a great scorer that should be held against him? he does what the jazz need. I am from Utah and grew up watching Stockton. He is my all-time favorite player. But we are not looking for another one. That will never happen. We are looking for a great point guard who can lead our team. Deron Williams is that and more. Because he did not have alot of assists one Game is Ronnie Price better? Sounds like the blind one is you my friend!

Very good approach. I may only say that "why not ?"
If also other teams wear GREEN JERSEYS to send Memo to the bench, you win the claim.
GO MEMO, GO JAZZZZZZ
By the way, thanks to the "to Sinan".

Since the all-star break, Deron is the top PG in the league...before today he was averaging somewhere around 13 assists per game since the allstar game, with multiple 16+ assist games and a string of 8 double-doubles (may have been longer). He is now right behind Boozer for the 4th spot in double doubles for the season (by the way, that is ahead of Nash and CP3...which implies that Deron does more EACH GAME to help his team, while CP3 and Nash do a bunch in one game, then fade in the next).
He does what the team needs to win. If anything he needs to shore up his defense, ala Stockton (all-time steals leader) and get into passing lanes more. Otherwise, he is just what the Jazz need right now.
He will never be Stockton, but neither will anyone else. Let's let Stock be Stock and Deron be Deron and appreciate them for what they both bring to Utah...an exciting game and the hope of a championship, something many teams will never see (Clippers anyone?).

Although last night was a good win. You hate to see them settle for jumpers all night. It just goes to show also that MEMO is more of a key part to this team than most believe. When Memo was in and out of the lineup with his toe early in the season there record was... well you know but with him in the lineup healthy he is more of a threat than Boozer offensively and whole lot better defensively than most give credit. It would be great to bring FES up and give him the minutes when Memo is on the bench.
Don't worry Sinan the Lakers will always wear that ugly yellow and that only makes Memo and the the rest of the Jazz angry as a dog. Go Jazz take a bite out of Kobe and the Lakers.

Nobody is arguing that Deron is talented player, but he has to much ego and that will hurt the Jazz in the future ( playoffs)I do not like watching Deron, just don't. To big of the ballhog.
Jdizzle | 10:22 a.m. March 18, 2008
I just want to make something clear. Memo is a great defender, even against quicker guys eg Kevin Garnett. He plays great position defense. He'll never be a great help defender, he just doesn't have the athletisism to be a great shot blocker, but he is doing his part. Boozer has been slowly improving over the season, and come playoff time they'll be hitting a very good stride. GO MEMO, GO D-WILL, Go BOOZER and the rest of the JAZZ!!! OH and GO SINAN it's nice to see someone not be a fairweather fan!!
again another reply calgary jazz | 12:11 p.m. March 18, 2008
Yeah, he sure hurt them last year when he lead them to the western conference finals. Ego? He is confident, something that the jazz need. Someone with a little attitude. But he is always the first to congratulate his teammates. Ask them if he shoots too much or if he is a ballhog. I think they probably like playing with him. He makes that team way better and constantly gets guys open for good looks. As far as the ball hog thing, That has already been slammed by two different posts. If you don't like the way he plays thats fine but you would be better of to list some legitimate reasons or no reasons at all. your fanhood makes me sick.

DWill is far different player than Stock..and anyone who is reasonable will accept that. Sure, I love Stock's game and humility, but DWill has shelved much of his ego to coexist with Sloan. And DWill's personality is one that will make him want the last minute shot. Right now, he is the heart of the Jazz..and that says alot.
Okur's defense has gotten much better since last yr, and Booze's defense has not. Memo's penchant to play outside fits well with Booze's game and Memo is shooting over shorter opponents, which he wasn't doing last yr. I do worry, cause as good as Booze is, he can be outmatched in a 7 game series by a taller quicker opponent like TD, KG.
You got to love Sloan...in the midst of an extended winning (29-8, since KK came to Utah) Sloan calls publicly for a 'defemsive stopper..lol. He keeps them motivated.

Numbers do not lie. -6 rating after game we won by 17, when PG takes 17 shots while no other player has 10 tells me we have Marbury/Iverson type shot first PG who cares about his stats and his shots more then about other guys on the team. Calderon scored on him couple times so Deron went on personal "I will show you what I can do" shooting display. It was ugly to watch and thanks to Ronnie Price who came in and then all team started executing, touching the ball and put Raptors away.
Deron went on one man show vs Spurs last year and how that ended we all know. No way he led as to WCF, it was AK, Boozer and Fisher who won GSW series.
As far as assits he gets it doesn't make him less ballhog. Iverson and Kobe had many games with 10+ assists - what does it tell you?

re: calgary jazz | 12:01 a.m. March 19, 2008
Deron did not have anything to do with them reaching the wcf's? lets look at his numbers: against the rockets: 16.2 ppg, 8.4 assists, 5.8 rebounds. Golden state: 16.8 ppg, 8.9 assists. spurs: 25.8 ppg, 8.7 assists. Yeah good point, he did notlead us there. Stats are not everything but when they are consistent they are reputable. Iverson shoots way more than williams and career fg% of 42%. he averages 7.2 assists per game. Bryant averages 5.2 assists for career and shoots 46%. Williams is shooting 51% from the field this year. Last time i checked thats pretty good buddy. in fact, its fourth in the league for guards . he had 11 points and 16 assists the other night and they lost. I know its hardfor you to comprehend but its good to have a point who can score too. the jazz lost to the spurs not because of D-will. The spurs were a more talented team with probably the best power forward to ever play. And tony parker was the mvp of the finals. he is definitely a shoot first player who never averages over 6 assists but he seems to do good. give it up buddy.
Calgary Jazz | 11:42 a.m. March 19, 2008
Deron has all the tools necessary to be a GREAT pg - body, court vision, shot, etc. The only thing which is wrong - he loves to score to much. Even if he is shooting over 50% pg are not suppose to take more shots then their teammates. Thats what separates Deron from Nash or Stockton for example, they are looking for teammates first and for their shot only when necessary.
I still hope Deron matures and realizes what it takes to be great, not good but great;)

re: calgary jazz | 1:39 a.m. March 20, 2008
I respect your view. Boozer has taken 60 more shots than Williams. That one was one game. Williams seems to assert himself when the team needs him and he is a great scorer, he is also a great playmaker. He has alot of games where he shoots alot less.
