I owe I owe, it's off to Anaheim I go! After watching every game of the MWC tournament, I can hardly believe I will be in the Honda Center all day. The cougs face a strong team from a tough conference. Today we end the streak!! Bring on the BRUINS!

A&M was great and then not so great. Glad to meet them during their not so great portion of the season, but Cougs could still have their hands full. Notice that New Mexico and San Diego State exited the NIT in tail-between-the-legs fashion (actually SDS's tail was cut off!)? Maybe good in the MWC is not so good nationally. Cougs can hopefully make us proud and prove it deserves the right to go 2nd round with UCLA.

Just two wins away from becoming the top seed in the west. Go Cougs.

At least now I know what excuses to use when talking to my Ute Family Members. Too bad he didn't include one for tonight's loss.
Thanks for the memo Dick!

I think the Cougs face a tough task tonight. Hopefully Trent can stay out of foul trouble and JT can get hot. If those 2 things happen we have a good chance. I know Murdock has played the majority of minutes at point this year but the MWC Tourney Championship game showed that they are a little vunerable at the guard position. Michael Lloyd Jr. seems to have the quickness to deal with the quicker guard play. Why not use him at the point and Ferrdette at the 2? Looking forward to next year! The Cougs should be better in '08-'09.

Darn, I thought A&M might look past BYU. Sounds like they will be ready to play. Not a good sign for the Y.

Is anybody else sick of hearing how "great" Jonathan Tavernari is? We play a whole lot better while he is not in the game. I am so sick of him shooting dumb shots. Sure he scores 20 points a game, but he is always like 6 for 20 from the field. Drives me crazy. Play COLLINSWORTH!!!
GO GOUGARS!!!!

Here's how BYU wins... | 8:47 a.m. March 20, 2008
For BYU to beat Texas A&M...I will give you the keys to victory. If any of these keys are not followed then BYU will lost by 10 to 15 points.
First: BYU has to play Jimmer Fredette as point guard. BYU can't afford to have Murdock in the game for very long. When BYU is on offense with Murdock in the game it is like 4 against 5. So if Fredette starts and plays a majority of the game then I'll believe Rose is a decent coach.
Second: Cummard has to stay out of foul trouble and play the entire game! If Cummard get a quick two fouls and has to sit in the first half or any time for a long extended period of time then BYU has not chance.
Third: Plaisted has to be effective and score itleast 15 points and grab 10 boards. If he doesn't have these stats...No way BYU wins this game.
Summary: At this point in the season I don't count on Tavernari for much. He's too inconsistent. Burgess and Collinsworth are good role players. My prediction: BYU losed by 4 points, not enough points from Plaistead and Cummard is in foul trouble.

I agree JT is inconsistent but I really think our only chance to winning is if he gets hot and hits some threes. When we beat Louisville, he had 29. When we were playing in conference, we could afford for him to have an off night or two and still win a majority of our games. But against the "Big Boys", I really think he needs to step up. If he is hitting his shots it opens things up for the other players, especially Lee and Trent. If he isn't hitting, give him a rest and put Collinsworth in for a while.
I agree with playing Fredette more! He was a stud against UNLV in the second half. I say play Jimmer and Michael Loyd Jr. more since they will be running the show next year!

BYU wins for sure if they have have big games from Cummard and Plaistead. They have enough talent that someone else always steps up, Tavenari, Burgess, Collinsworth, Jimmer, someone will always have a big game, but the key is to get Plaistead and Cummard involved and scoring early.
If we play a mix of our half court game and run-n-gun then we'll run them right out of the building!

Being a fan is great, but some of you seem to think you would make pretty good coaches. Personally, I'll take Dave Rose and his excellent abilities over any of you wannabes who can't even spell the names of the players you think you know so well.

Too many factors play in to who will win or not. We haven't seen these two teams compete since the 1970's?... and neither has competed against the other team's competators recently so I really can't say, either way, who's got what it takes. I HAVE seen BYU give some great efforts against solid teams and win some ball games. I just hope the Cougs can put it together enough to come out with the W. It would be good to get some national hype as Dave Rose continues to build a great program at BYU.

Win or lose, it's great to be in the NCAA and not the NIT, much less the CBI. One and done is better than None and done. Cheering for the Cougars, it's the best.

I'll tell you who Cummard is....he is somebody that is going to make alot more money than you could ever dream of.

You can't be serious that BYU is picked for the Elite 8 and picked to beat UCLA. The "experts" have UCLA in the final 4 beating either Duke or Xavier to get there. You must be looking at something wrong
You can do it!!! | 1:14 p.m. March 20, 2008
I think BYU has a chance against A&M, but very slim. The Aggies played Kansas tough and almost won. BYU better bring their "A" game.

These ZOOBIES need to remove the blinders!

If the ags big men show up and Joe Jones can stay out of foul trouble, This should be an aggie victory. The last 3 or 4 games have been what I expected of them all year long. Maybe hitting their peak at the right time. Whoop!!!

Byu has a challenge here but it reminds me of how we made it out of the final four. No one was holding our hands like they do for Byu. The first playoff game matched us against a powerhouse team that was riding a 28-game winning streak. We knew we were in for a fight, but as the intensity of the game increased, so did our determination. We won, pulling away in the second half. That win brought us to the brink of our goal, a match-up with the defending champions for the title. We went into preparing for the big game with the same intensity and focus we had shown as a team all season.
Now qwicherbellyaken. All that matters is this moment and using all the talent God gave you and more!

To win | 4:33 p.m. March 20, 2008
Every comes up with all these things on how to win the games and it is actually quite simple. I heard a guy on espn a few years back say that all Detroit has to do to beat LA is hold LA to around 70 points and then score 80. If they do that then they have a good chance of winning. I thought he was an idiot at first but that is all BYU has to do. Score more than the other team. It's simple really. Don't take dumb shots and make more than the guys on the other team. Very simple. You will win every single time if you do that

i guess jughead will make his bucks in Europe, they do pay fairly well

what a fraud BYU is, they'll get pounded by A & M. When's the last time you guys one a tournament game?
UNLV in sweet sixteen last year, just set NCAA record for fewest points allowed in 1st half. BYU down 11-0.
Yeah, you're right BYU, it was the home court. whatever, your team just sucks.
You look totally outclassed in this game.

Your sub headline can't possibly be right - no NCAA wins since the early 1990's!! According to most of the Cougar fans I hear from, they've won 3 or 4 national titles in the same time frame.

THE COUGARS ARE OUT!!! (Again)
