This was not a case of running the wrong offense. This was a case of a team coming out for a big game and not playing with any energy at all. This effort was a joke. I can handle when the Jazz lose when giving max effort but when they play with energy this team could easily handle LA. How else can anyone explain how they beat LA the last time with Boozer and Memo out. They simply played with a high amount of energy. This team is getting very good at wasting games. They did it last year and it cost them home court. They have had every chance at home court throughout and now that is most likely out of reach. Sad that people who get paid to play a game can't come out with energy for as big a games as this. No Carlos, the loss was not because of running the wrong plays it was because when you left the locker room none of you had any energy. I would not vent if they got beat and played hard but they did not play Jazz basketball. When they are "RIGHT" no one can beat them.

No Defense once again,
No rebounding,
No energy,
No time outs,
What gives?
Every shot that went up there were 3 Lakers waiting for the rebound and No Jazz players within 10 feet of the basket.
Then, how a bout all those missed layins, try dunking instead of the finger rolls.
Come on Sloan - start coaching or go home and play on your tractors!

I hope jazz fan can see they have NO chance in a series with the Lakers. Remember, this was without two of their better players (gasol, byrum). Don't give it is just one game - THIS WAS A STATEMENT!

You Jazz fans just need to get over it. These are not the late 90's and the Lakers do not fear you any more. I glad Derek and the Lakers put you guys in your place last night. Now that's personal.
Eugene | 6:53 a.m. March 21, 2008
Okay, enough with the onslaught. The Jazz lost big time, so what? NBA history shows that big losses don't mean big losses every time even in a single series. The Jazz can and will rebound, but this should be a wake up call to the boys from Utah that 20 home wins in a row just wasn't going to be handed to you! Regroup and finish out this homestand with vigor!! Play-off bound, baby!!
Hmmm... | 7:10 a.m. March 21, 2008
Jazz just didn't want this one. I can tell you, if I was getting paid 8-10 MILLION dollars per YEAR (I'll never see that much money in my entire LIFETIME), I would D$%% sure put forth more effort than I saw last night. I had to stop watching 'cause I get entirely too wrapped up in yelling at the TV. I've been TV-Coaching the Jazz since I was 14 - I'm now in my forties. I'm thinking some things will never change...
ToLakerFans | 7:23 a.m. March 21, 2008
Who says we fear the Lakers or anyone else? Jazz are 3 games from 1st in the West while still being the 3rd youngest team in the NBA. The other two youngest Seattle and Portland are not even close. Jazz are not winning a Championship thats a fact but but we'll see what happens in the next 2 years. Now if we can find a big man that plays defense and get rid of Okur.
Agitatus | 7:23 a.m. March 21, 2008
The Jazz played like they were running in sand. This was a nationally televised game and they proved why they aren't nationally televised more often. They were either intimidated or unprepared. Either excuse is disgusting. There's no reason they couldn't beat this team, lame self righteous Kobe indignation or not, especially without Pau.
As for Derek Fisher, I was bothered by the boos. Obviously, many fans at the stadium felt the Huntsman Cancer center ought to be capable of providing the best care for his daughter and he just wanted out of Utah, particularly given his reaction when he first discovered he was coming to our state in the trade. Kobe is a great player, but he's a schmuck.
Spike | 7:24 a.m. March 21, 2008
Note to Note,
Was Kobe correct? Yes!!!!! Perhaps you should show some class and just admit that the Jazz fans were wrong. When will the Utah fans ever stop crying? You sound like a bunch of grade school whiners. Look the Jazz lost to the Lakers last night. Last night the Lakers were clearly the best team. Next time maybe the Jazz will win. This isn't real life, this is just basketball and you guys need to growup. Your fans threw things on the court when it was clear you would lose. Why do you act like that?
Sanctimony | 7:34 a.m. March 21, 2008
Once again Jazz fan has proven himself the dumbest fan in the league. Enjoy that the Lakers broke your streak you deserve it. Jazz fan = Ute fan = losers.
to spike | 7:39 a.m. March 21, 2008
Yes it was classless to throw things on the court, but as far as Fisher, was it classless? Did he really leave Utah to move to somewhere where his kid could be treated better, or was it that he hated being Utah from the beginning and wasn't man enough to honor a contract?
It also makes me sick how many Laker fans were at the game, can you say band wagoners?
anonymous | 7:44 a.m. March 21, 2008
Where was the energy Jazz? If playing for a record, a shot at the playoffs, and against one of your biggest rivals can't motivate you, what can? By the way, come on fans, don't throw stuff on the court! What was that!? You almost looked as childish as Kobe out there. Almost. What a waste he is. He could be such a role model with his bball skills. He's an incredible talent. Now all you want to do is hope your kids don't even notice the jerk. What a loser. Grow up Kobe. You're how many years in the league now, and still acting like a baby?
To Spike | 7:44 a.m. March 21, 2008
Because there are morons in all stadiums, both on and off the court... an instance in Detroit comes to mind.

Fisher should have not been booed no reason for that and yes a lot of Jazz fans are homers. I have been watching every game since 1983 and I have to say are fans are one of the worst homers including KJAZZ announcers. Just call the game well ya "Cha-Ching"... bring Hot Rod back!!!
Confused | 8:00 a.m. March 21, 2008
I always hear how "great" and "classy" the Utah fans are. Then I see how they treat one of the more respectable guys in the league -- booing Derek Fisher like he's a criminal. These so-called fantastic fans then throw a hissy fit and begin hurling stuff onto the court when the game became unwinnable -- acting like a bunch of petulant little babies. Guess it's just funny to me.

I followed Fisher for many years and he never struck me as one to sneak his way out of a commitment. Comparing his act to Boozer's (when he turned his back on the Cavs) is laughable. I commend Larry Miller for doing the right thing and setting Fisher loose. I guess it just comes down to making a distinction between the team and the fans.

The Jazz are a 1st class organization but it appears Utah fans are as dumb and classless as the rest of the league. Now if we could just get someone from there to admit it...
Trouser Trout | 8:02 a.m. March 21, 2008
There`s only 1 thing I hate more than the Lakers coming to our court and poundin our boys...and thats watchin "KOBE THE GLORYHOG" drivin right down the lane untouched for a dunk....kills me
RE:Spike (The Truth) | 8:17 a.m. March 21, 2008
do you know what a fan is? You got to love those bandwagon Laker fans! just like you see all those bandwagon Celt's fans now as well. I'm glad Kobe is not a jazz player, cause I couldn't take his MJ faking self. Look I'm talking like MJ!! look I'm copying MJ's moves...Kobe there was and will only be one MJ and you are not him!! I'm glad the Jazz sent Deshaun out of here as well, we don't want that type of play-er! And Spike, there is a reason why no one wants to play the jazz in this arena, it's because of the FANS! I'd rather be around paranoid beer thrown, cussing, booing, rednecks than the look at me I'm a star/i need more attention/bandwagon LAKER'S fan and yes KOBE was innocent, he is really just misunderstood! He's really a good guy,who loves his wife....just a few KOBE moments for you....I want out of here.....trade me, we could have had Jason Kidd for Bynum are you kidding me? I never sent Shaq out of town?, I hate Phil, I love Phil....We are TEAM!! Spike give me a break!! At least Jazz fans care about someone other thanthemselves!
Troutster - No Class | 8:21 a.m. March 21, 2008
If it makes you feel better calling Kobe names then have at it. It doesnt change the fact that Kobe is one of the greatest players ever. Kobe will be the MVP this year. He whooped up on the Jazz last night. Give the guy some credit. He is an amazing basketball player.
Sloan Hater | 8:23 a.m. March 21, 2008
Never Fear, I am Always Here!

Even as much as I dislike Sloan's Coaching Skills and revel in the chance for others to see with their own eyes why I continually call for an end to his tenure, this was a tough loss to stomach.

No need to discuss Sloan today, just re-watch the 1st quarter if you still contest my calls for Sloan to retire.

However, I do want to hit on some positives. The Jazz never gave up on the game. This is a great sign for a playoff team. Even though the Jazz were down 15+ most of the game, they never threw in the towel. If a couple of big shots had fallen in the 4th, the outcome may have been different.

Let's hope the Lakers take the top spot in the West, setting up a 2nd Rd rematch.

The other positive note is that the streak is over. I think the attention and hype surrounding streaks can become a distraction.

I can't imagine the hype/pressure IF the home streak lasted up until the Playoffs.

It would have been worse than seeing the '1988 Sloan Montage.'

Fire/Retire Sloan
Best fans? | 8:25 a.m. March 21, 2008
Everyone says the Utah fans are the best in the league. How do you define that? Are they the best cause they are the loudest, the most passionate? I have been to a few games and they are loud and passionate which is awesome and it is a fun place to be at but they really aren't the best fans. They are in my opinion the loudest and most hostile but that does not make them the best. How can you say they are the best when a game is stopped because stuff is thrown on the floor and they argue nearly every call and they boo whoever they can think of? Very passionate but clearly not the best or greatest fans. Maybe they would be if they were more realistic. I am not speaking of each person that goes to the games but as a collective in the stands. Not all fans boo and throw things but when you look at a whole the Jazz fans are not the greatest.
Sinan | 8:30 a.m. March 21, 2008
1st of all, i am sorry for the defeat. At the end of 1st quarter, we deserved the defeat. It is so nonsense to talk about what happened on other periods. 1st period created a downed mental on our players. They knew LA is a strong team and also they knew the (crowded to overflowing) fans will be so sorry after a defeat. Those 2 factors pushed them into stress and we couldn't make it over. If 1st period wasn't like that, no doubt, we would play better and win the game. Pay attention, i don't blame any of our players because we need them for the rest games. GO JAZZZZZZZZZ
Sloan Lover | 8:30 a.m. March 21, 2008
I think you see what happened in this game, is kind of what happened in the last Jazz home game vs the Lakers. The Jazz were short handed and pounded them Lakers. This time, the Lakers started a smaller unit and pounded the Jazz. I'm not sure why my main man Jerry didn't wise up after his first time out and matchup better. Instead he came out with the exact same line up. Now I'm no rocket scientist. But I'm thinking Okur guarding Odum who is a small forward isn't the best matchup and it's not much better with Booz either. Especially if Okur is going to stand outside the 3 point line and not pound Odum inside? But let's not change our rotations. Secondly, can we come up with a better rotation so that when we are down ten points we don't have A.k.,Booze,D-will and Okur all out of the game at the same time? I'm glad Okur and Booze decided to Man up and play but if Okur is say one step ahead of a dead man, Maybe it's time to go a different direction!! I didn't watch the second half, but I would assume that nothing changed?
Lakers #1 | 8:31 a.m. March 21, 2008
Hey Jazz fans. Stop your crying. The Lakers showed who the best team is. Play defense and maybe you can beat the Lakers in the playoffs.
Spike - The Truth | 8:37 a.m. March 21, 2008
Wow very impressive. I'm glad you would rather be around paranoid beer throwing, cussing, booing rednecks. I can't imagine a more fun crowd to hang with. Personally I love to see great players doing their best and putting on a great show without a bunch of classless fans interrupting the game and treating people the way the Jazz fans do. You should be proud..........Sure glad I moved out Utah.
Sinan | 8:39 a.m. March 21, 2008
I know some of us will type lots of things about the defeat, but i will not. Because it is not the time to criticize the Jazz, our team. All next games are very important to play the playoffs and it is the time TO SUPPORT the team. GO JAZZZZZZZZZZZ

A NOTE TO L.A FANS : Jazz fans never cry. This wasn't an impossible result. No matter to fly high by a wind of a win
Truthfully | 8:41 a.m. March 21, 2008
Utah just laid a BIG WHITE EGG(like a white flag) for the Easter holiday. But it is only one game so get over it fans and move on. This just shows the inmaturity of our team. We are young and these are the lessons that real men will use to motivate themselves in the future. I do think we have a few head issues that management no doubt will address in the off season, but I like our team. No need for a bunch of negative blogs on this one, just move on and be glad you don't live in one of the cities that do not have a competitive team. The SUN did come up today so we are fine.
Truth is.... | 8:43 a.m. March 21, 2008
Jazz Fans hate the Lakers/City of LA/fans.
Lakers hate Jazz fans.
Some Jazz fans are lame and boo d-fish.
Lakers play hard to shut them up.
Jazz players...too busy setting up plans during game for dinner afterword to care.

Me=can't stand bandwagon Laker fans that went to the game and now post here. Why? See #1.
Troutster | 8:44 a.m. March 21, 2008
those aren`t names....those are FACTS
re: Laker fan | 8:46 a.m. March 21, 2008
The fact that your team won without those two key players doesn't mean much, since the Jazz routed the Lakers in November without Okur and Boozer. Congratulations on the fact that your team won and I hope you found a good spot for your Lakers jerseys in your closets right next to your Yankees hats and Cowboys hoodies.
Jazz Fan | 8:51 a.m. March 21, 2008
The Jazz lose one game and you want to fire Sloan. Are you ever happy. I'm sure you all could do a better job of stopping Kobe.
Jazz fan in SoCal | 8:51 a.m. March 21, 2008
Even Phoenix is playing better "D" than the Jazz. When Jazz play with no energy or "D" they can't beat the Knicks, Hawks, Bulls, Clippers, Nets, Heat, Wolves or the Bobcats. Lets all be grateful that Denver's defense is worse than ours, or we could be on the outside looking in.
Where did all these Faker fans | 8:52 a.m. March 21, 2008
come from? Are they Jazz fans, but laker fans when they play the lakers? Or are jazz fans that spineless and sell their tickets to faker fans?

I don't think I've seen any playoff bound team with so many opposing fans in the arena.
Spiff | 8:53 a.m. March 21, 2008
Sancitmony, why are Jazz fans equal to Ute fans? I think there are plenty of BYU fans in the stands. You think maybe since BYU lost earlier followed by a Jazz loss this had people in a bad mood? Your hatred for the Utes is why BYU is hated in most parts of the country. You and your fans think you are better than anyone else. Listen to your leaders and come down off your high horse.....
Jazz vs Lakers | 8:56 a.m. March 21, 2008
I'm surprised that there are this many comments about the Laker bandwagon. Have any of you been to a Jazz vs Lakers game before? There are always a large contingent of Laker fans in Utah, even when they weren't doing that well, like the last three years. The Jazz better worry about getting home court advantage even though they have a higher seed. And as a Laker fan, I would love to play the Jazz in the second round. Just hope you don't have to beat the Spurs in the first to get there because I don't see that happening.
ID Jazz | 8:57 a.m. March 21, 2008
As much as I love the Jazz but when they start the game like that your better off to have an alternate plan for your time. I switched over to American Choppers which was more entertaining for sure.
You can blame the team and the effort but it has to start with DWill. From the start of the game he was running the offense the way Hart does. Bring the ball down and pass it to someone and then stand and watch. This team feeds off his energy off the the point guard much the same way other teams do with there guards such as Nash, CP3, Kobe and etc. Some teams you can start slow and come back on at home but when you have a western conference leading team and you come out like that GAME OVER.
Jazz fans get over it | 8:59 a.m. March 21, 2008
Look, Im a Jazz fan, but the better team won last night. Ripping on Kobe is just being sour. The guy is not perfect obviously, like none of us are. Quit being poor sports, and take a loss like a man. The Lakers are better this year. The Jazz are still very immature, mostly on the defensive end. Look at the best teams in the league, and watch their defense. The Jazz have yet to decide whether they want to play defense night in and night out. The Jazz have a lot of promise for the next few years, and are one of the best young teams. The Lakers will be good for another year or 2, then they'll be too old. Sorry, i don't have a problem with fans booing Fish. Look, when you leave the Jazz and go to the Lakers, and make them a better team, obviously that is not going to sit well with many people. But, I am glad he's gone though. It was better for the Jazz, cause Ronnie Brewer has gotten more time to develop, which is better in the long run for the Jazz.
I've been to a Laker/Jazz game | 9:01 a.m. March 21, 2008
And the bandwagon fans have steadily increased when the Fakers were in the playoff picture.
Laker Fan | 9:02 a.m. March 21, 2008
I seem to have forgotten something. How many NBA Championship rings to the Jazz have. Can anyone tell me please. Go Lakers..........
Parkit | 9:03 a.m. March 21, 2008
The simple fact is that we were outcoached. Jerry Sloan will never take any team to the ultimate prize. He did not see that the Lakers were simply daring the Deron Williams to shoot and that is why the offense could not move. The team quickly lost confidence and you could see it in the missed free throws. This was a statement game and the Jazz were just shown that last season was a fluke and the are not there with this coach and players combination.
Fakers | 9:03 a.m. March 21, 2008
And the Fakers have underachieved since Shaq left. Kobe won't win without Shaq.
Basketball Genius | 9:03 a.m. March 21, 2008
Does anyone else think we might match up better with the Lakers when Bynum and Gasol are playing. I sure do for one. Odom destroys Boozer and if you have shooters on the floor everyone in the league knows Kirilenko cheats off them and teams are burning us with 3 point shots. The problem with the NBA is all they care about is ratings and you can guarantee after last years finals ratings debacle that the Celtics and Lakers will both be in the Finals this year. Sometimes is seems were watching WWE wrestiling in the NBA you don't want to think its scripted but deep down you know it probably is. Sorry, but the NBA wants big market teams to be good and last I checked Utah is not a huge market we talk about how young we are, but do you really think Boozer and Williams are going to stay in Utah forever. Not a chance, so it would be great for us to make a run now, but let's not say oh we are young and have 5 years to win a title. This team will be totally different in 5 years.
ID Jazz | 9:09 a.m. March 21, 2008
The lakers fans on here cheering for Kobe are the same fans that hated him when he said he wanted out because the lakers there fans and the organization stinks. Yeah Kobe is as loyal as Derek Fisher!!!
Go Home | 9:15 a.m. March 21, 2008
I agreea about the bandwagners. There were a Bunch last night. They need to go home. I hate the Lakers and I hate Kobe. I've been looking forward to that game for two weeks I would have hoped OUR JAZZ PLAYERS would have too!!!!! They could have came out with a little more energy. I was upset I was yelling at the TV screen. I liked the comment of the young players though. I think D-will is the man and he showed he wanted to win last night!!! Im not jumping off this Jazz train. Go Jazz!!!! I just wished they woulda come out and tried to prove a little bit more. Fisher is a traitor we should boo him whenever. I hate the lakers and there 'star' player
anonymous | 9:16 a.m. March 21, 2008
The Jazz lost because of a lack of defensive rotation and offensive execution. It doesn't matter what team it is, they came out and got manhandled the whole game. What they need to learn is that the championship teams learn from this and don't do it again, especially this year with the playoff race the way it is. Jazz you are a good team and can be great with a little more energy you would be sitting on top of the west looking down. Find that energy and cohesiveness and make it happen, then you can bask in the sun. Simply put, the talent is here now focus and finish the season strong and peak in the playoffs.
heh8me@1 | 9:23 a.m. March 21, 2008
Rivalry? When has Utah EVER been a rival of the Lakers? Whoaaaa, settle down lil bucka-roos. Stick to fighting KIDS of your ilk-- like the KINGS, The NUGGETS, and SONICS. KNOW your LIMITS.
what's up? | 9:23 a.m. March 21, 2008
Jazz were on strike. Maybe they all have the flu? Wow, no heart in the game from the start. They didn't play hungry till the last 5 minutes. They were soooo off their groove. What's up Jazz? Is it personal?
Eddie T | 9:24 a.m. March 21, 2008
Wow. Such hostile comments between Laker and Jazz fans. Let me say that I'm a Laker fan and was shocked at the outcome given that the Jazz are near impossible to beat at home. That said, it was obvious that the Jazz took the Lakers for granted without Gasol/Bynum much like the Lakers took the Jazz for granted without Booz/Memo back in December. The thrown cup was stupid, but c'mon. That was ONE fan! Oh well. Anyway, this could make for a great 2nd round match with both teams healthy!
RE: Laker Fan | 9:24 a.m. March 21, 2008
Hey Laker Fan...Can you tell me how many rings Kobe has since Shaq left? 0!

Also....I was at the game...We flat out were not ready to play which was sad to see in a big game like this.

The one thing I did get a kick off of...The Laker fan sitting on the front row for a while until he got thrown out because the Bear was being hospitable and went over and gave him a Jazz shirt in his hoodie pocket...What did the Laker Fan do? He took it out and threw it softly at the bear that was on the court! What happened...he got throw out of the building becuase you can't throw things onto the court....So sad but so funny...That was the best thing about last night!
Jazz Fan in Seattle | 9:24 a.m. March 21, 2008
I have to say, we Jazz fans can be classless sometimes. I personally find it appalling the way they treat Derek Fisher. He is a class individual. Regardless of his reasons, the man spoke with Larry Miller and asked out of his contract and Larry Miller agreed. End of story.

You people are reading way too much into whether he did or didn't move for the reasons he stated. How about taking the guy at his word and moving on? It's a basketball game. Same issue up here in Seattle with the hatred toward A-Rod. Move on, people.

As for Kobe, he is supremely talented. As a person, he is a total schmuck, but he can sure play hoops like few ever have.

I hate the Lakers, but they clearly outplayed the Jazz in every way last night. No excuses. Jazz just stood around and shot jumpers all night. Great defense, Jazz.

Sheesh.
Phoenix is winning | 9:25 a.m. March 21, 2008
With Shaq,so you are wrong there Faker fan. They are in contention - one game behind the Fakers. Again, a faker fan with no clue.
Laker Fan | 9:26 a.m. March 21, 2008
Hey Faker, the Lakers didn't underachieve without Shaq. They were just really bad. They too had a very young team though it appears now that the youngsters have matured nicely and are ready to bring the campionship to LA. You have got to keep your team together and stop losing your best talent because they don't want to stay in Utah. Oh, yes unless I forget, I'm sure that Phoenix is really pleased that Shaq is there now. They used to be in contention.
