I THINK IT IS JUST WONDERFUL THE WAY EVERYONE CAME TOGETHER TO HELP THESE NICE PEOPLE.WHEN I SAW THE STORY I HOPED SOMEONE WOULD COME UP FRONT AND HELP. I AM THRILLED TO THINK THESE GREAT PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER WOULD COME TOGETHER TO DO SUCH A NICE THING. YOU CAN ALL BE VERY PROUD.IF I WERE NOT A BIT HANDICAPED I WOULD BE RIGHT THERE HAMMERING AWAY.

I hope that when building the new home the same mistakes are not made as in the first one. I can almost guarantee that the problems with the original home inculded some or all of the following:

1. Not enough or bad installation of wall insulation
2. Air leakage under or through the walls
3. Inadequate ventilation in the home
4. Failure to control indoor moisture
5. Use of room or whole-house humidifiers
6. No kitchen or bathroom ventilation fans
7. Lifestyle that contributes to moisture generation

Black mold spores are everywhere. If you build a home that creates a cold surface and introduce enough moisture, you will get condensation and mold. It takes all three things to creat the problem. If you don't know what caused the problem in the first place, you should find out before you go building a new house that might just end up having the same problems. Identify the root problem and treat the cause. Tearing down the old house is a pretty drastic way to treat the symptom. Note: Deseret News, you can give my e-mail to Heart2Heart and the family.
