I don't see what a Utah governor as running mate does for an Arizona senator. Instead, I see a cabinet level post--perhaps US Trade Representative or Commerce Secretary--as a more likely reward for Huntsman's loyalty.

Oh, gag me with a spoon! Surely McCain would prefer to bring his man-crush Huckabee, except for knowing that Utahns will bow and scrape before Romney.
Somewhere in a political backroom the term "useful idiots" is being batted about....
I'm no longer helping the Republicans to become what they are becoming. Not for Mitt. Not for anyone.

Gov. Romney has a lot of class | 6:58 p.m. March 26, 2008
I don't think I could be as gracious as Gov. Romney has been. By Nov I'm sure I'll be able to down some Dramamine and vote for McCain but it won't be easy.

John McCain WILL NOT get my vote unless Mitt Romney is his running mate, it is that simple, I will be voting for Ralph Nader as a Protest Vote against the Republican Party for not going with a True Conservative Candadate but rather a Moderate. It is that simple in my view. I encourage all to do the same thing. McCain is a Moderate at best and only a Military Conservative, that is it. His word about "No New Taxes" is about as good as George Herbert Bush's word was, "Read my lips, no new taxes!" then he signed in to law new taxes, I don't trust the guy at all past our military.

One would think Mitt would rather write a check for four hundred grand than stay in a room with McCain for two hours.

I have heard it said thar he, "would vote for a yellow dog before voting for the eidther of the two demo blow hards". So why not McCain, who else is there?

George Bush has done such a wonderful job over the last 7 years giving us a strong, vibrant economy, a victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, record low budget and trade deficits, low gas prices, excellent job of handling the devastation from Katrina, building up our reputation and respect in the world after his compassionate conservative methods is Abu Ghraib and Gitmo, that it is the duty of every right thinking Utah voter to vote for McCain who will give us 4 more years of Bush's policies. Thank you.

Listen Conservatives who would consider not voting for McCain...
Not voting for McCain in this situation is analogous to being cut-off on the road and then ramming your car into a tree in protest!
Yes Romney is the better choice, but he is out!!! Do you seriously think it would be better to elect a racist tax-raiser, or a lying tax-raiser? McCain is no angel, but he is no democrat!!!

Follow Romney!!! | 7:54 p.m. March 26, 2008
If you supported Romney for any reason other than the fact he is Mormon, then recognize what he is doing. He realizes that rather than fight McCain to the end like the egotistical democrats, it is better to unite and not let one of them get elected. Follow the man you wanted to lead you. Has his judgment now become irrelevant? THINK!!!

NO McCAIN WITHOUT MITT! Thats my vote!

This country do not need another Bush II like policy that Mitt promises us.
Economicaly our country is bankrupt, cutting taxes but living on loans finally had it's tolls. The war in Irak is not affordable and casing our deficit to grow even bigger everyday. The ideology of free market and goverment hands off has created a desastrous banking crisis--and more to come.
The dollar is in free fall, Our energy policy or lack thereof is ineffective and inefficient.
What is the GOP's proposal, go on ! keep digging !
and sing All is well! All is Well!
No way I will vote for a party that supported blindly the worst national, international, economical and fiscal policies ever. It is time to do what is right.

Senator McCain should pick Gov. Romney as his running mate which will assure him of the conservatives' votes and democratic votes as well. I was a democrat but Gov. Romney made me follow his great path. He is the most qualified and we will never forget his great sacrifice for the sake of UNITY! May God Bless him and his family!
No McCain | 8:29 p.m. March 26, 2008
for whatever reason. He's not going to make Romeny VP candidate. He's using him to get money out of the Utahns that gave money to Mitt. The part that disappoints me is that Mitt is helping this man campaign at well. They are nothing alike. Did not get along at anytime during the campaign. This whole trip here is for money. Period.

The Bush Pres. duo are Religious Conservatives ,and Political Liberals. They fall somewhere between the midline of Democrat and Republican. That is why we got McCain as our Republican Candidate. In States where Primaries allowed it, the moderate Dems. voted in our Primaries for McCain as well as other Independent Voters. Now many Conservative Republicans are returning the favor and doing the same in their Primaries.Yes,McCain says he is a Reagon Conservative, but is as liberal in his Politics as Bush,Clinton, and Obama. The only Plus side for him, over these others ,is his Military Stance and Support for the troops. He is an open-border and Share our Sovreinty kind of guy.Yes,when all the dust settles,we Conservative types will probably just throw-up and pull the lever.

After hearing parts of McCain's speech today, I am ready to support Hillery. Since the Democrats made is so that the Republicans don't have the candidate that they want, why not just have the whole country miserable and vote in Hillery. McCain is a democrat in republican's clothing. I am not even sure that I want to vote for him, even if he had a person like Romney, I feel so betrayed by McCain. Maybe it is best to give this one to the Dems and have a true conservative in four years, cause if we support McCain, then are we not supporting the change of the republican party?

If Romney is the chosen Vise President for McCain, I wish I could vote 100 times. If Romney is not with McCain, I will not vote. Thank you.
Amazing. | 8:39 p.m. March 26, 2008
Whose the tax raiser? Isn't national debt just a lie? It's nothing but denial because national debt is referred taxation. Why do conservatives think it's the other person's responsibility to pick up their tabs? You support troop's making the ultimate sacrifice but you don't want to be bother making any sacrifices.
I'm a vet who has nothing in common with conservative values.

Can you imagine!
You think Obama's preacher said some wacky things? Wait until they swiftboat Romney with "white and delightsome"!
Go ahead and vote as Ezra Taft "John Birch" Benson always directed you. Don't stop now; you've got decades of obedience behind you, and many more to go.

write Romney in, instead of voting for any of the others. Wouldn't that be an upset.

Wow. It's interesting to see how many Utah voters are willing to abandon straight R republicanism because it isn't straight RM...republican mormon.
The best man for the job is no longer republican alone; we know where we want him (only him, as gender goes) to spend his sundays as well. Writing checks to walmart dated monday. Or celebrating Christmas, Easter or Lent?*
What if we're not as divided as our politics suggests? If 'god bless america' includes democrats?
Romney had to bail. He wasn't going to win. Do we sit and sulk, or move forward and participate in reality. You pick.
*Not available in Utah except Sundays.

Listen up people! we have no choice but to vote for Johc Mccain, wether He picks Romney, Huntsman, or whoever. Do you want to vote for two people Hillary or Obama. no, of course you don't. one of them (hillary) want's to reduce this country to another third world country by implementing a plan that has been tried in most all of the lesser countries, and failed in all of them. socialism, is satan's idea of a united order. it will not work ever. Obama after having been exposed to twenty years of hate filled sermons by His pastor, is damaged goods. we can't take a chance people. we just can't chance it!!
John McCain was not my choicebut I do know he is a patriotic american. perhaps a little liberal, but, he can be kept in line by both houses and the folks.
Think about what I said, pray about it and then do the right thing.

Listen You good People of Utah... don't be sheeple. It is time to say no to the establishment. McCain, Obama and Clinton are all equally EVIL. I WILL NOT give my vote to any one of them. McCain is a warmonger. 100 years of war? Do you want your sons and daughters fighting McCains war? or Grandchildren? Or great grandchildren? Do you want the socialism touted by the others? How about someone who wants to surround himself with cronies to give lucrative jobs to... oh wait.. we already have that one. Jon McCain is not patriotic. He is out for himself. SO are the others. Time to really research this and write in someone who qualifies for your vote. I don't care who... just don't GIVE your vote to EVIL. The only way to protest this is to vote for someone else. Remember.. we will one day give an accounting for our votes. Uhh sorry God... I thought he wasn't evil? Not for me! STAND UP and really let the estabilshment know we are sick of them.

I'm sorry, I don't vote for ANYONE just because he or she is LDS. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't need to look any further than Harry Reid to see what a ridiculous fallacy that is.
I'm supporting John McCain now because he's our best choice among the three still standing. I am not "over" Mitt Romney. He is uniquely qualified to solve the critical strategic economic problems the U.S. faces which imperil our nation on the world stage as never before: 1) our ridiculous dependence on OPEC (which includes avowed enemies) for oil. Iran or Venezuela could have us begging on our knees in 30 seconds. 2) Grain: Japan recently purchased the entire remaining U.S. spring wheat crop, which sits in stateside storage so they can resell it at huge profits. Russia has already done same selling us back 2007 grain at huge profits. 3) Our perilous dependence on China for consumer goods, foodstuffs, medicine and strategic weapons components. In spite of continued shipments of faulty, adulterated and dangerous products, we fail to hold them accountable. Why? China holds over $1 trillion in dollar-denominated assets. They have already threatened to dump same and trigger our economic collapse.
Mitt for Veep!

I don't think "The Big Dig" in Mass. reflects well on Romney's economic genius. Perhaps Romney is not the economic/business guru and savior everyone in Utah tries to make him out to be. Look into it.
Joe Moe | 11:18 p.m. March 26, 2008
So many Utahns who pretended that they weren't just voting for Romney because he is LDS now show their true colors. The next best option is obviously McCain, according to Romney himself, but so many LDS voters say they just can't do it because...who knows....they make up so many things. But really they're just bitter. It rarely has anything to do with McCain's policies and vision (granted, there are those with honest differences, but even then, how they can they be greater than the differences they have with Obama or Hillary?!?)
Personally, I think McCain has been the most straight-forward, independent thinking, original, visionary Republican in the Senate for years.
I also look forward to a Romney campaign in four or eight years. He would make a fantastic president as well.

No offense anonymous, but YOU need to look into it. The Big Dig boondoggle was underway light years before Romney was elected governor. He had nothing to do with it, other than that the 20+ year old project was finally completed after he was elected. Talk about comparing apples to oranges. More like apples to doughnuts.
AL | 11:54 p.m. March 26, 2008
I have read alot about the intent of some of the great citizens of Utah. Lets be clear. A vote for someone else like Nadar, or a write-in for Romeny is sure to get us what we don't want and that if Hillary or Barrack. Think about it!!!

You can't be serious! You don't know your Big Dig history. The Big Dig was the brainchild of Governor Michael Dukakis. It was the butt of jokes for years before Governor Romney came into office. He immediately set about to wrest control from the MassPike Authority. The corrupt political machinery behind the Big Dig kept him at bay until the July 2006 ceiling collapse, which gave the Governor the opportunity and public support to finally fire Turnpike Authority chairman Matthew Amorello and begin to put some pressure to bear to get things cleaned up.
Next time get your facts straight before you begin to cast stones....

Mr. McCain, Mitt is the RIGHT choice for VP!
Edgar Reachingham | 4:38 a.m. March 27, 2008
It is interesting that Mitt's desire to reach out to the evangelical's during his run for the nomination was a fraud. He has endorsed McCain who even "Lush Limburger" (The Great El'Stinko) can't stand. The question is: What does Mitt really Believe
Nevin Limburg | 7:24 a.m. March 27, 2008
The reality of the world that we live in is "terrorism" all around us and economic challenges from emerging China and others. McCain-Romney is the ticket that can win with Americans voting their pocketbooks and/or their national security, because that ticket will show them, demonstrate it, and make us feel more at ease. It is that simple, yet that profound as well.
Becky | 9:52 a.m. March 27, 2008
What i'm afraid of is that McCain is using Romney to raise funds in Utah, Colorado, Nevada and other states where Mormons are dominant for his gain and use Huckabee for the states in the midwest where Huck won......that would be clever for McCain and here we're wondering if McCain will ever appoint Romney to be hus running mate or would that be his friend Huck.
eviehfic | 7:26 p.m. March 27, 2008
I wonder if McCain can be as forgiving as Mitt and choose him as his running mate. I doubt it. Too bad, maybe we could bring some respect to the White House. Go John and Mitt!!
