Officers: don't forget to bring your Tasers!
Re: George | 12:54 p.m. March 27, 2008
How insensitive can you be? These officers died doing their duty: protecting your right to speak out against them. You let the split-second decision, right or wrong, of one trooper dictate your opinion of all law enforcement oficers. Perhaps someone should post a video on YouTube of you screwing something up, then we could belittle you for the next few years.

Lighten up anonymous commentator ("Re: George"). Remember that the UHP stood behind their trooper in the tasing, the Tooele prosecutor found that he had done nothing "criminal", and the State Attorney General's office decided to settle for $40,000 because, taking the trooper's actions into consideration, they thought the settlement was merited. Because the UHP found nothing wrong without the trooper in question, other than his inability to properly communicate what he wanted the driver to do, their actions show a willingness to condone using a dangerous weapon in the circumstances shown on the video. Although some people defend the trooper because they think the victim acted like a brat, most people don't want officers to pull their weapons and use them as that trooper did. Until upper management in Utah law enforcement show a willingness to take corrective measures to ensure such a thing doesn't happen again, they leave themselves open to criticism.
