Such an honor to be a sterling scholar! Congrats to all of you for working so hard! And I must also say this that West High always did turn out some great students even when I was there. And the rest of you from the other schools who are scholars GREAT JOB!

I was privileged to win the award for Music in 1962 -- the first year for the awards. It was an amazing experience back then -- Oscar night for teenagers. Subsequent years have seen the high bar raised every year since that first year. I'd be very happy to carry the books for today's winners. What a great thing that Deseret News has kept this going. Looking forward to the 2012 50th anniversary awards !!

Congratulations Lindsey, and the amazing round up of finalists, runner-ups, and winners! Each year, the general scholar comes from a different area-in recent history, English, Math, and Music. What will be in store next year?

Awesome job Lindsey, with not only the Music, but General sterling scholar award. She's amazing and also an incredible pianist. She also won the Utah's Junior Miss Pageant
