Bishop is a former lobbyist for the company he is trying to help? Astonishing!

Bishop is an idiot and must be on the payroll of Energy Solutions. Anything entering or leaving this country is a federal matter whether Bishop likes it or not. Besides, we Utahn's don't want Utah to become the nuclear waste dumping ground of the world. Energy Solutions had these plans from the beginning and has been buying politicians with graft and lies since they arrived. Rob Bishop needs to get his gray matter examined and his bank accounts and re-elcetion campaign funds scrutinized for bribes and payoffs from energy solutions. Rob Bishop is an enemy to Utah and the U.S. trying to import nuclear bio hazards from around the world. If Energy Solutions gets their foot in the door we in Utah are the ones who will suffer the long term effects.

If Rob Bishop wants to live near nuclear waste from Italy then he should move to Italy-- not import it to Utah. Of course, he lives in DC now so why should he care if his former employer imports that stuff here?

A faint wiff of bribery in the air? This wouldn't be the first time for this company.

Mr. Bishop needs to protect the citizens of Utah, not the bottom line of a garbage dump. State rights are not an issue this in Junk made in Europe.

Any utah politician that goes along with this outrage should be IMPEACHED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!Citizens stand up.THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!!!

Sorry, but Bishop is right. Utah lawmakers should be watching out for Utah, not depending on the federal government to step in and protect us. Why has the Utah legislature not taken action on this issue?

DUMP THE STUFF in his own BACKYARD - get the sleeze ball out of office as it appears he will sell Utahns down the tube for his own gains. Come on Utah clean up the gutter fish you have representing you

SURPRISE!! Mr. Bishop is getting his pockets lined by Energy Solutions just like Larry Miller. They all could care less about the citizens of the state and only see the mighty dollar in their eyes. We do not want the trash from Italy or anywhere else. Time to stop making Utah the garbage dump of the world. Store and dispose of the junk where it is produced. I also agree it is time to VOTE OUT Rob Bishop and get someone who has integrity and honor and supports the state and its citizens.

Bishop is as stupid now as he was when he kept a pistol in the classroom in Brigham City while he lobbied for the NRA.
On the other hand, maybe Utah should store Nuclear Waste, starting with letting the Goshute Tribe. What is wrong with the Indians making money? Or is it just OK when it is white guys?

Bishop is completely wrong(and there is no way that he does not know this):
Article I Section 8 of the Constitution states the following under Powers of Congress:
"To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes"
This means that Congress does have the power to regulate any commerce with foreign Nations, I would say that waste coming from Italy qualifies as commerce with a foreign Nation.
Second, it states that congress can regulate commerce among the several States. In other words, there is no way for this waste to not pass through other states because we are not on a coast.
The other area where bishop is totally wrong is that his argument assumes that Utah actually wants the stuff. How is he defining Utah? I don't want it and according to polling data, neither does the vast majority of Utah's citizens.
Energy Solutions (F.K.A. Envirocare) might, but that is not Utah.
Bishop knows all of this and is feigning ignorance to benefit on of his largest benefactors.
What can we do about it? Hold people accountable for saying things that they know to be false... at the ballot box.

Recycle Nuclear Waste | 12:42 p.m. March 28, 2008
Environmentalist extremists everywhere need to open up their minds. Study the process of how nuclear energy is produced and what "waste" really is. The only reason we even have a problem with "nuclear waste" in this country is because we don't recycle the nuclear fuel cells thanks to your friend and mine, Nobel Peace Price Winning Jimmy Carter. One of his executive orders during his reign of terror forbid the recycling of nuclear fuel cells and thus the problem of "waste" storage. The leftovers of recycling nuclear fuel cells are essentially environmentally friendly while also giving us the benefit of the most efficient harnessing of energy known (on the order of 90-95% efficient). Why don't the environmental wackos out there focus on overturning such a ridiculous executive order and then we won't even have the problem of storing "nuclear waste."

Good to hear Bishop supports the residents of Utah and not lobbyists.
