Way to go GOP, just give the presidency to the Dems by nominating McCain. John Adams's dream of virtue and morality is long gone when McCain is the last hope of conservativism.

SML-PDX) You missed the polls from the other day... The Democrats are not only in disarray, they're upset. 19% of The Obama people said they'd vote for McCain if Hillary gets the nomination. 28% said they'd vote for McCain if Hillary gets the nomination.. Who/whom else are the conservatives going to vote for?..
Nader?
Nader?

The Three Stooges, live in concert to fleece Utah. Baaaaaaaaa....

$1,000 a head :( Does Utah have to exhibit their minimal intellect any further for a party that only shows up at the dinner table when they need a handout? Is there no better way to show your Utah Pride than to give to the hopeless and helpless of the political system... Think of how better this place we reside in would be if the money handed out to these type of people to be thrown into more beneficial programs. One just has to see what Utah got out of the donations handed to Romney to see what results these luncheons produce. SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR A BETTER CAUSE, UTAH :-)
Re; Bob G | 6:36 a.m. March 28, 2008
Bob G - you are nothing but a transplanted sheep. If you think mindless thinking is strong in Utah, try living on the Eastern seaboard, perhaps Massachussetts. Baaaaaaa...

"I don't think there's any question about that. John McCain as a retail politician has been extremely successful. He tells it like it is. He doesn't pull any punches. He's honest with people," Huntsman said.
An honest politician ? What a sad day for conservatives.

The democrats are going to win, and it's a good thing. However, you're giving too much credit to McCain and "Utahs' favourite mormon candidate".
George Bush is doing his part, too. With an astonishing level of competence, or incompetence depending on your point of view.
Go Obama.

Scarey threesome for sure. Two little rich boys scrambling and hoping for the power through the idiot that wants to create the third world war and continue to brake the bank in debt for America. I wonder if they really like their brown noses - heaven help UTAH
Frank Musgrave | 7:30 a.m. March 28, 2008
The Morning News keeps calling Romney, "Utah's favorite son." I really don't think that's an accurate description. "Mormondom's favorite son" is much closer to the truth.

We're paying a price here for the Deseret News' flawed forum system: we have to listen to the same person repeat his or her self under different pen names, all the while self-reinforcing their inane points!
Editors: don't you think it's about time you went to the same forum system every other online publication in the world uses, where you have to register a screen name in order to participate, and your comment gets posted in real time. Then you can have a meaningful back and forth discussion. The Deseret News feels compelled to moderate this forum to keep us from posting things that might be inappropriate, but there are ways to filter most of that in real time.
Here you can wait for 12 or more hours for your comment to get posted, and sometimes it never shows up. Kind of puts a damper on interaction (but maybe that's the idea...).

I am so confident that McCain is not going to be the next president firstly because I feel so strongly about that and secondly he resembles too much of President Bush. We really don't need a 3rd term from Bush. Don't get me wrong, I love Pres. Bush for what he is ...
Well, at least Mitt earned | 8:26 a.m. March 28, 2008
most of his cash. Obama took bribes and kickbacks. Gee, I've a vacant lot next to me. I'd LOVE to buy it, but cant because its a tad pricy. Think I can get someone rich to buy it and gift it to me for political favors? If the country was not heading to sad shape, thanks to a DNC controlled house and senate, I'd vote for Obama, just for the sheer fun of watching the democrate party go up in flames, and have to regroup into a more conservative role. But I won't have that luxary. I have to vote GOP.
Oh, and Queen Hillary? yea, Right. It's sad that best and brightest choice we have is McCain. It's made stronger by Mitt.

If, one is to survive the upcoming presidential elections, there are three necessary beliefs:
1. The earth is flat.
2. Bill Clinton and Rush Limbaugh always tell the truth.
3. George Bush is the best, greatest, most powerful,
well liked president we've ever had.

Would have been better spent in Utah
Obama is the best choice
Why he is allowing Clinton to change his direction is bad
Obama, New Idea's?
I hope so and some I agree with
The GOP shold be tared and feathered

Two Kens and Oscar the Grouch. There's McCain bookended by billionaires. What a picture of smug self satisfaction...
JPMaxwell | 9:21 a.m. March 28, 2008
I am tired of all the negativity with this upcoming election! For those of you who keep it up with slamming McCain, do yourself a favor and read his story of what he endured in the concentration camp for several years and came out to go on with life, battered body and all. I really doubt any of you would have lasted a year, let alone 6.

McCain is hard to vote for because of his coddling of Illegals. Obama is a white hating racist and Hilary is just another Clinton.
Tough decision.
Tough decision.
Bob P | 9:38 a.m. March 28, 2008
Obama is a highly polished, empty vessel. McCain and Romney or Rice would make an awesome president and vp.
Bush/McCain | 9:57 a.m. March 28, 2008
McCain and Bush are not so similar as a lot of people think. There policy on Iraq and immigration are similar, but outside of that they differ quite a bit, especially on taxing. While I appreciate the job Bush has done in quelling terrorism, establishing democracy in the world, and promoting family values, I think it's time to get some new views in the White House. Unfortunately, McCain, Clinton, and Obama are all very poor candidates. Wouldn't suprise me to see their approval ratings below Bush, whoever gets in. There are some tough issues facing our country right now, and I think all of them are ill-prepared to handle them.

I guess those chipping in don't expect their sons will go to the vastly expanded middle eastern war, if McCain wins. But then, it's always been some other family's kid.

We have no choice in this election, as in others. We have to vote lesser of the evils but which is that???????????????????

Conservative ? Liberal ? McCain ? Obama ? Who Cares !!
The minorities and low income citizens of this state have done their fair share for Utah's affluent and LDS conservative voters.
Either put your money where your mouth is and send YOUR young men and women to fight overseas or stop blindly voting Republican regardless of the candidate.
When I returned to my east Layton neighborhood after spending a year watching people bleed in Afghanistan, I listened to many of the state's faithful conservative Republican types inform me they would NEVER allow their children to join the military, much less fight overseas. Yet, these are the people who blindly vote Republican every year, regardless of the candidate or their voting record.
Think before you vote !!

I will not vote for McCain, Obama or Clinton. (3 libs) I wish there was a conservative running. We need something after Bush/Cheney and Congress have Bankrupt our Country. I think Huntsman isnt much better for our State either. We all need a Great Leader to step up and save the USA
From AZ | 11:54 a.m. March 28, 2008
Living here in AZ we get a full dose of McCain, his angry antics, his coddeling of the liberals, and his career political style which offers nothing but additional bureaucracy. I am a lifelong Republican, or should I say conservative, and will never vote for this fake, closet liberal.
What a disaster that this election has turned out to be. A choice between three liberals. Wow!

Obama does not hate whites. You have no proof of that. He is half white for crying out loud! You believe what you want to believe, whether it's true or not. You just wanted a reason to hate him. Most people understand he has a mind of his own. Because I am a Christian with a mind of my own I understand that that is possible. Read "The Audacity of Hope". See for yourself.
Lew Jeppson | 1:23 p.m. March 28, 2008
Moreover, someone should ask Governor Huntsman, avid McCain support that he is, if he watched Frontline's Bush's War, and if he feels any unease or even guilt supporting Bush's foreign policy clone.
Come, Now Betty | 1:35 p.m. March 28, 2008
While agreed that Obama is not a racist the title to the book "The Audacity of Hope" did however originate from a racist. Reverend Wright came up with the title to the book. If you deny Rev. Wright is a racist your a fool. Don't be a fool Um, Betty

At events such as these, are these guys ever asked anything but softball questions? If I had a chance to ask a question it would be this: Why does the Bush Administration, having declared Iran to be part of the "Axis of Evil," continue to support pro-Iranian factions inside of Iraq. Totally bizarre. What's the agenda?

So many not-so-smart people hanging around......
Jeering at Utahns because they paid $1000 for a plate of food? Helllllooooooo....they know exactly where the money is going, and why, and they want McCain to win. That's not "getting fleeced." And this happens everywhere, all the time. Democrats did the same thing with Obama....
And statements that the money should go to some just cause instead. This is a great feel-good statement, but not rational. A) Your average person isn't paying $1000 for this at the expense of charitable contributions. It's your rich folks, who, for all you know, just gave ten times that amount (or much more) to some just cause. B) They put their money where their mouths are because they think McCain will lead this country better than the other guy/gal; the leadership of this country has vast importance, for everyone, not just those in need of charity. Your complaint is similar to that leveled at a priest who flies across the country on the church's dime to learn about how to build good social programs, instead of just putting more soup in the soup kitchen. There's a bigger vision than just handouts!

RE: Come now Betty | 9:55 a.m. March 29, 2008
Don't call me a fool. You haven't read the book have you? Talk about a fool. Yes he took the title from a sermon Wright gave. Wright is confused and harboring some old hurt, obviously. But its like Obama said, he's been reduced to the 5 stupidest things he ever spoke in his life. Obama was on the "View" yesterday where he gave an excellent interview (not a fluff interview like you might think from such a show). He said if Wright wasn't retired and he kept giving sermons like the ones he gave he would have left the church. He also gave smart answers about what his priorities are when and if he becomes president. Those being the careful withdrawal from Iraq, healthcare, and energy, he wants to seriously work toward getting off foreign oil and work on clean energy sources (this is not only important but will create new jobs.) That being said, he said he will probably have to work on this economy situation first. I know most of Utah doesn't agree with me, but I think they are overwhelmingly judging Obama without properly researching him.
Califoromney | 5:24 p.m. March 31, 2008
I think you should look at this for a minute this way. Obama has belonged to a church for over 20 yr that gives him alot of baggage. And has no experience for this. He's just a speaker that promises the world and raising taxes. Hillary is in LaLa land telling her make up stories in Bosnia. And brags about her training as the 1st Lady. (not sure about that) And none of this medical insurance for all is going to be cheap. And the only ones paying for it will be those who pay by working and paying taxes. The only difference from now is that us tax payers will be paying for everything at a higher price.
McCain is looking better all the time. With a good VP at his side he may surprise you.
McCains ratings are improving all the time.
