Very scary as to the thinking toward LIFE from this person. I haved walked over that pass and it is very intimidating. I hope they catch this guy who must be a self centered jealous punk! And a danger to society as he didn't care!

This was the lead story on Friday evening's local news.
I think elevating the status of animals over humans is quite disturbing.

Anyone who could do this to an animal could do it to a person. What happened yesterday with the dog shows this person or group of people who did this have no conscience or respect toward life in general. It disturbs me that people think of it as raising an animal's life above a humans -- it isn't. It's preventing crime toward people by stopping these people from escalating from animal creulty to hurting people. And anyone who says it doesn't happen that way hasn't been around someone who has actually done it. It does happen. And besides, if they are so concerned about people...that guy threw a dog onto the freeway that could have resulted in massive car accidents and people dying. Whoever did this is a danger to society and needs some serious help.

Needless to say this is a horrific and tragic situation. I'm pleased to see that good people have come together to show their devotion to life and animals in this particular incident. To those who think that animals are considered a higher level than human events on recent news, think about this: Studies show that people who kill humans have a history of animal abuse in their past. Typically, animal abuse is the start of progression to higher crimes. Just a reminder to readers.

Re:Human lover...it is a fact that those who are capable of such deliberate cruelty toward an animal are usually capable of doing the same violence toward other human beings.
In fact...many serial murderers get their start by torturing and killing animals. If YOU are TRULY a human lover...you had better consider these facts.
I certainly hope the creep who did this to this young woman's dog is apprehended.

One more reason that crimes against animals should carry the same penalty as those against people.

Animals are sentient; they feel; cruelty is cruelty - what on earth makes human suffering worse than animal suffering? Deliberate cruelty to living creatures should be punished.

There have been many witnesses saying that the dog jumped and that the people on the overpass were trying to get the dog back. Think about it, the dog is in a new, strange home (from KSL reports), jumps the fence, is lost and confused. It could happen. I haven't read anything following this story further.

Re:Franz...do you have a source for those claims? I haven't read anything in any newspaper in which witnesses said that the dog jumped.

Haley, Words can't express how happy I am that your dog will be all right. As I boxer owner I too can't believe that anyone would do such a thing to such a beautiful dog. Best of luck to you and Seven.
