Class of 2007 Update | 8:46 a.m. April 3, 2008
Jordan's Class of 2007 was incredible, and everyone wondered how their successors would do, so it is nice to see this year's team doing so well. In the way of an update, of the nine seniors on last year's team, five of them are playing Division I baseball, 3 are playing JC baseball and one chose a football scholarship. Zach Jones is the everyday third baseman for Stanford, Garrett Nash is the regular left fielder at Oregon State, James Mahler has started five games on the mound for Arkansas, and Tyler Anderson has the best ERA on Utah's pitching staff. Scott Manning and Troy Steele are starters on SLCC's league leading baseball team, Zane Gray is on College of Southern Idaho's pitching staff, Ben Gollaher is both a pitcher and position player at Southern Utah, and Sean Taylor red-shirted as a QB on SUU's football team. I don't remember any high school team that has had so many move on to the next level. But I'm sure someone will remind me of some.

Derek Amicone is the man. But watch out for Alta, they are pretty tough this year. Jordan has a great Coach. To be able to keep all that talent happy last year, that was a job in itself.

I read an article about Hillcrest and Coach Gaskins about how they were going to win the State Championship this year becuase he says he has won 3 in New Mexico, which from what I read is in serious question. I hope second place is ok with Jordan or Taylorsville.

Region 2 could be interesting. It is great to see the younger players get a chance. Derek Amicone is a great Senior Leader. He is the Man. Alta is tough and could present some problems. My question is, what's up with Bingham? I thought R.R. was determined that this year was the year of the Miners?
Re : Jordan Supporter | 1:28 p.m. April 3, 2008
I'm also a Jordan fan. Alta will present more than "some" problems, and for all the nay-sayers I read from on these posts - Bingham has a ton of talent, in every age group, in every sport. Don't think for a moment they won't be there when it counts......for like the next 10 years minimum!
RE Re: Jordan Supporter | 2:25 p.m. April 3, 2008
Bingham does have a ton of talent. I was really surprised to see that they didn't show up last year for the baseball post season tournament. I hope they don't fall flat again this year. Rand R. get's more coverage from the Trib and DN than any coach in the State. Oh ya, his brother does write for one of those papers.

Don't worry about Bingham! I find it SO FUNNY that in an article about region 2, yup, you guessed it, someone has to bring up Bingham. It is hilarious that you Jordan fans apparently have Bingham on your mind 24/7. Get over it! I can promise you that Bingham doesn't constantly think of Jordan. They have better things to do! In my opinion, Bingham will, however, be in the thick of the title search, again! Hopefully they will end up playing Jordan because I don't think the Miners would have much of a problem with them!

You know what I get tired of? All the bashing that goes on in these posts. If people had to attach their name there would be a lot less hate here. Sorry I gave a couple of teams a compliment, apparently that goes against your grain - it's so much more fun bashing! Maybe Jordan fans have more class than what you're accustomed to? Certainly I'll get something from you for that comment. I believe you give credit and respect to those that deserve it. Somehow, and maybe it's just me - bashing others doesn't make me feel better about who and what we are.
Re: Get over it | 3:55 p.m. April 3, 2008
Hey, what happened to your Miners last year. They haven't had time to think about Jordan thus far, they have been to enthralled in their out-of-state losses to date. I'm sure Rand will find a way to get an article written about those Miners even though they don't know how to win out-of-state.
An Idea! | 4:43 p.m. April 3, 2008
Hey, if you are tired of it, find someting else to do with your time. Bashing is fun. Those Diggers will fold when it counts. They are young and inexperienced. Derek Amicone, the MAN, I don't think so. His name got him where he is. Now, the Miners, they are for real.

I THINK IT IS GREAT TO HEAR ABOUT THE BOYS PLAYING IN COLLEGE. BUT JUST SO YOU KNOW IT IS ALL ABOUT MARKETING YOUR PRODUCT. IT IS WHO YOU KNOW. IF YOU DONT PAY TO PLAY ...YOU WON'T GET TO KEEP PLAYING. SO INVEST YOUR MONEY INTO BASEBALL PROGRAMS SO YOU CAN TELL EVERYONE YOUR BOY PLAYS COLLEGE BALL. MOST LIKELY IT WON'T BE A SCHOOL WE HAVE EVER HEARD OFF. IT IS ALL A BIG GAMBLE BUT IS IT REALLY WORTH IT. WHAT HAPPEN TO GOING TO COLLEGE TO GET AN EDUCATION. I GUESS BB IS MORE IMPORTANT!

What in "Get Over it's" post was bashing? They simply ask why Bingham is always brought up, even when the article has nothing to do with them? Fair question I think. Also for you to blame others for bashing, yes you gave compliments to Jordan and Alta, but get serious, you yourself were "bashing" on Bingham. Don't cast stones at others, when you are doing the very thing that your accuse. "Bashing others" must make you feel better, that is exactly what you did!

Rand R. isn't even the head coach and you people start bashing on him. I have heard he is an excellent coach from many people and could have figured that out myself from these blogs. People rip on those that are successful not those that are poor. Good luck to the miners from up north!

Obviously you don't know coach Rand very well. If you have ever listened to him when he is interviewed, he never says anything about how good his team is. In fact, he always downplays things about his squad. I played basketball for him in the middle 90's and it took everything we had to get him to say something positive about our play. Looking back, after winning 2 state titles in a row, I figured out his methods behind his madness. The funny thing about this whole thing is that he isn't even the head coach of the baseball team. Coach Sato is. Not sure why you are bashing Rand but must be because he has been so successful in everything he coaches. You certainly wouldn't be saying anything if you had the pleasure of playing for him like I did. He is tough but fair and loves his players. And even though we hated him at times, we loved him as well. The life lessons I learned from him are helping me today.

Pleasant Grove 6 Bingham 5. R.R. has planned years for this year and look what is happening. It is still pre-season. It will be fun to see what they do against 4A power house Cottonwood today.
To: Scores Speak for Themselves | 10:42 a.m. April 6, 2008
Not sure why you are on R.R. for he isn't the head coach. Anyway, I got a text saying that Bingham beat Cottonwood 11-0.

I hate to admit it but region 2 is propably the most over-rated region in the state. Maybe T-ville can compete with those other regions but nobody else. However I would imagine that in the next couple years we will get some more super stars from Alta and that should help us get in the mix again. I don't believe any team in our region can beat the top 3 teams in any other region. Always next year.
