I watched Corbin all through his California high school years and he loves to run but is also a very good passer. I am sure that if Utah allows him to get more snaps on passing plays he will get back his passing touch. His favorite receiver from High School, Geoff Michalczyk, is on Utah's team. Maybe they should get him into the rotation. Also, Clark Peterson, who caught 10 of his touchdown passes and runs a 4.38 forty is at BYU and not even playing. Bring him up as well. Corbin will be great -- he expects greatness fro mhimself and his team and achieves it.

The Utes comment about our passing game without Hall. It looks like Louks can run, but can he complete passes? He may as well just be another running back, or something if he can't. Without Johnson (whose passing game is pretty average) where is your passing game?

Does he jump up and down and talk trash in practice after a 5 yard run like he does in the games?

If Louks was able to run like that then it sounds like the defense has issues. Great, now we'll have a QB who can't throw and a defense that can't catch guys who can run.
Agree with Hmmmm.... | 10:03 a.m. April 12, 2008
We are going against a Michigan coach that loves running quarterbacks and if Corbin can run against us like that then Michigan will blow our rears right out of the water. I like Loukes but we need to be stopping him or any other quarterback options right now.

Agree with Hmmmmmm, did you watch Michigan play last year? Did Michigan love the running quarterback from Appalachian State? Thought not.
Re: the Hailstorm | 3:05 p.m. April 12, 2008
No, they can't realize that. They live in a delusional, one dimensional world. What are they going to do when they realize that nobody in America likes them and that they are just a side story "this years preseason cinderella" ANYHOW back to what matters. Loukes could be a pretty good backup. I don't know if I see him being a starter in 2009 but the kid has game. I look forward to Manis and that kid from spanish fork. Here's to a great year. When I take my home glasses off I predict a 10 win season. However if Utah gets past UM who knows. The sky is the limit.

here's my take. louks looks like an alex smith type QB but a better runner. and not to mention what RB matt asiata did to that first team run defense (44 yaards on 4 carries, 12 yds/carry). the running game is where we want it to be. you have two dual threat guys who need to get better at the passing game. i wouldnt wann have to put in Mannis just because louks and johnson cant throw. but i believe brian will get his arm strength back and louks will develop. and the defense will continue to dominate as usual and byu fans . dont say 4th and 18. one bad defensive play that whole game doesnt ruin a defense. we held you zoobs to your worst offensive performance last season (or was it the ucla rematch)..either way you get my point.

Hey, we're just returning the favor from all the Urban Meyer years, that is all.
Cougar blue | 4:06 p.m. April 12, 2008
I just wanted to apologize for some of our fans. I'm a die hard blue myself, but I recognize as much as the next guy that the Utes are a good team. Any smart BYU fan realizes that the Utes are set for a good year, and, as always, they will be tough to beat, especially in Salt Lake. So all of the talk of BYU's goal of busting the BCS and what not is only what it is, a goal. So it's possible, but not guaranteed. The Utes are set up to have a good run this year also. So good luck, it's going to be a great rivalry this year!

Go cougars!
Re Cougar Blue | 4:21 p.m. April 12, 2008
You give many Utah fans hope that there are sane Cougar loyalists out there. Good on ya. My best friend is a byu fan (although he says he sometimes wonders why) and we keep it real without all the garbage that flows on these boards. That being said. Go Utes. Here's to a good year and a solid backup QB (better than Grady).
Finaly | 4:28 p.m. April 12, 2008
It is great to Finaly have a QB that will fit our offense if Brian Johnson goes down. I hope that does not happen...however, if it does it is very reassuring that the backup fits the scheme and the offense would only have to make minor adjustments. As for louks throwing ability, although I have not experienced it first hand I hear he has an accurate and strong arm. As for the defense, I haven't worried about them since Whittingham has been at the U. They will be ready!!!
re: finally | 5:03 p.m. April 12, 2008
it is good to know there is some good in byu fans, thus you are a very respectful person.. as for the QB Situation.. we're set for the next few years. louks shows great promise, and if devonte christopher does as his high school stats looks then teams better watch out...mannis is a freak when it comes to throwing.. has an arm like smith used to have. not really a spread qb though..

either way. both teams are really good and shound come down to this game for the championship, and possibly a BCS berth for both schools.
LV Football | 12:11 a.m. April 13, 2008
It's nice to read LV's latest addition to Ute Football got cracked big time in the scrimmage. He has the skills to eventually be a big contibutor to Ute Football. However, he needs to understand that the days of blowing by defenders or blowing-up high school sized would-be tacklers is all but over.

C'mon U fans unite. The Y is outclassing us. Our posts on their articles are vicious. We can't demand respect and then dish out trash.
I'm sorry | 1:27 p.m. April 13, 2008
The first two post on BYU's artice today were cruel U fans. No apology neccessary from Y fan. We have our own housecleaning to do.
Hero of Canton | 3:18 p.m. April 14, 2008
the team down south is outclassing us? and we should care why? they are a buncha high-minded, holier-than-thou loud mouths. so what if there are some ute fans (myself included) that want to run trash on them? its a rivalry for crying out loud, get over it. if you don't like it then don't say anything and go sit in the corner and eat your cheese.

The last time I went to a game in Rice-Eccles Stadium, my wife and kids got an X- rated education from drunk, foul mouthed Utah fans (students mostly). My wife left in tears and I left angry and disgusted. I am not saying everyone in there was that way, but too many were. I will never go to another Utah game until you guys clean up your act! Maybe for some, sportsmanship and honor has lost it's meaning. It has been my observation and experience that those two qualities are more easily found in Lavell Edwards stadium. Nevertheless, I wish the Utes a successful year.
hahahaha..... | 1:38 p.m. April 15, 2008
I remember a few years ago on a call in show when a couple Cougar fans called in saying they were season ticket holders, werent LDS, and got drunk before every game. There point was it has NOTHING to do with religion and there are not better people in either stadium. We are all the same. Though shall not judge must have been erased from the commandments in Provo.
re/former Ute fan | 1:42 p.m. April 15, 2008
As a former Utah player, I remember getting hit in the head with gatorade bottles back in 95 while playing in LES. I also was called the "N" word by several Cougar players, so dont act like BYU fans are all sweet and nice, it goes both ways pal!
Re: Former Ute Fan | 4:26 p.m. April 15, 2008
I too have seen bad behavior by Utah fans in Rice-Eccles; however, BYU fans assaulted a Utah fan last year in Lavell Edwards, breaking his nose. Furthermore, I was punched in the back in Lavell Edwards Stadium in 2001.

thats why you wear a helmet in the great sport of football. Usually the helmet will win the battle against a gatorade bottle, but i guess in some cases it can be emotionally damaging?
