Correction: Ian Dulan has played two years. He started 2 years ago as a 17-yr.old freshman. He like Denney will be a junior next fall.

It has been amazing what Coach Kaufusi has done with the D-line at BYU especially in the past two years- dealing with freshman and inexperience in 2006 and a key injury at NT and having use a true freshman in 2007. Great coaching!

Kaufusi has been a miracle worker. Glad he's in Cougar Blue!

Defensive lineman are the best! I love to watch how physical BYU D-men are, and how fast they are.

Jorgenson is a great pass rusher, but I hope he has been working on run defense. UCLA and others ran successfully at him last year. Sometimes you can focus too much on the pass rush and give up the big run.
Go Cougars!

I love the fact that everyone gets a chance under Mendenhall and Kaufusi. Jorgensen was a standout in high school at Carbon High. (not a football powerhouse by any means) Now he's a standout at BYU. He'd have been overlooked by some other coaches. Good job Kaufusi and d-linemen.

The article said, "...Ian Dulan, another junior, who started as a true freshman last year and has chosen to move his mission plans and play this fall."
If Dulan was a true freshman last year, he would be a sophomore this year. Can anyone clarify whether he will be a soph or junior this year?

It sure seems that everyone gets a chance on the defensive side of the ball, but I'm not so sure that others get a fair shot on the offensive side of the ball.

byu defensive lineman are soft. UCLA and Utah pushed them all over the field last year. They need to improve their run defense if they want to compete this year.

This is the first time I've heard Solomone Kafu mentioned in a D-News Article. He's going to be a stud for BYU. He came out of nowhere this year in the Sacramento California high school ranks, is a 4.0 student, and a man child. With Kaufusi coaching him, if they don't red-shirt him before his mission, he could be a contributor this fall.

I hope that this Solomone Kafu recruit can turn out to be as good as Ian Dulan has been. I dont believe Ian was highly recruited either.
By the way, BYU needs to come up with some hiden gems on the d-line becuase they have not done well in getting the highly regarded LDS recruits at this position. They might have more options than they have had in the past but I think they have under recruited this position based on the talent pool available.
This is true for lineman in general the last few years. I am afraid it will continue this year with the two highly regarded offensive linemen in Utah this year. Of course, I know recruiting ratings done mean anything but something tells me these two kids can play pretty well. with only 10 scholarships left for next year, who will they get?

Hey, Utah man--you need to watch the 2007 BYU-Utah game again. BYU dominated both sides of the line in that game, and it wasn't even close. Your team had one drive all game where you were able to run effectively, and that was it.
It is cute how the Utah fans became UCLA fans when the bowl match-ups were announced.
