It is sad that a religious faith with such proud traditions has fallen prey so easily to rapidly declining standards and value. The leadership's abandonment of the bedrock principles and clear definitions of right and wrong, and truth and justice is responsible for the seething unrest among the flock.
By abandoning the basic tenants of the faith, and embracing trendy "diversity" themes this faith has plunged into the unholy depths of moral relativism.
Perhaps only 1% of the members are actively revolting against the leadership, but there is a "silent majority" nearly ready to join the mutiny, or at least abandon the current leadership.

It is sad that that the Christian faith, founded on the commandment of love is so tied to the culture of fear and bigotry of how they see the "other."
It is extremely sad when other religious traditions do not see the value in every human being, but only those who fit their specific "right" mold.
Diversity is not "trendy." Diversity is creation!
The basics of the Christian faith is love of God, love of neighbor, and love of yourself. Jesus never said, love only those who are just like you, who believe just like you.
The standard of the Gospel of Christ remains the same: love. Respect the dignity of every human being as a child of God.
The Episcopal Church has fully embraced the Gospel of Christ in Christ's commandment to love:love of God and your neighbor. Not judgement, so very prevelant in this community unfortunately.
It is others who have twisted his gospel to a system of rules and regulations, fear of those different from the majority and prejudice of anything seen as other.
Jesus calls us to another level: Love.
Jesus calls us to another reality: Grace.
Leave bigotry and prejudice behind, it is not Christian.

Ms Schori continues to try to downplay the disaster she and her liberal ilk are wreaking on the Episcopal church. Last year, it was the fastest declining denomination. This year promises to be much worse, with three or four whole dioceses as well as hundreds of thousands leaving. More bishops will be deposed or resign in these past couple of years, than in the past hundred. Ms Schori has abandoned the Gospel for a Christ-less social gospel. (If you have doubts about this, read her "Easter" message which only makes passing reference to the actual reason for the celebration and quickly moves on to global warming, etc. Google "Easter message schori" to read.)

Locally, the diocese of Utah also has embraced every liberal innovation, bowing to culturally whims rather standing firm in the faith. The result? The diocese has lost 22% of membership since 2002!!! - this when the population of the state is booming.

To Fastest declining denomination | 12:35 p.m. ,

You seem so pleased that such a thing is happening. And yet these people who have left this faith are, according to statistics, NOT joining another Church.

Is that what you want? Is that healthy or good? Is that how you justify your own Church by pointing out how other Churches are failing? Does that help you feel better about yourself? If so, I can only ask two more questions: What kind of sick person are you? and How can you seriously call yourself Christian?

On the contrary, Ms Schori has been marvelously successful! She has provided an opportunity for those bigots and homophobes who are truly NOT Christian, to exercise their rights to freedom of religion, and go join up with other bigots and homophobes... sort of like a cleansing of the Church. That is a good thing!
