According to the NY Times, the number of golfers is in decline. Those who golf 25 or more times a year is off nearly 40%. The primary reason is the move of golf courses to "exclusiveness". The average gy doesn't feel welcome at the new mausoleum-like clubhouses. The future of the game depends on adding new golfers from the "masses". In the executive course, East Bay had the only venue in the valley that provided a place for junior golfers and duffers to learn the game, and that has been sacrificed for a "signature hole" and three non-descript replacements. I do not think that is an improvement, and I will not be buying a season pass again.
