We're pretty quick to say "Lock'em up and throw away the key." Then we complain about the costs for new prisons, more guards and better pay and training for guards. We complain about "Taj Mahals" for police. We shut down the Oxbow Jail to cut costs.
When are we going to realize that without more prison cells to hold them our prisons have to release prisoners every time new prisoners are brought in? Maybe these "admimistrative oversights" that release prisoners early are "accidentally on purpose".
I am willing to pay more in taxes to see that two-legged-carp like this particular butt-pimple stay locked up forever. I just wish that more law-and-order taxpayers would put their money where there mouths are. I'm all for low taxes, but public safety is constitutionally mandated and is higher in priority than the Delta Center and playgrounds and much of what is considered to be public works. We need more, and better staffed, prisons.

Registry? Right. And let's have one for j-walkers, speeders, library-card abuse, spitting, housewives, laborers, police, baseball players, basketball players, people who wear sweaters, people who wear non-Jazz caps, dogs without collars, penguins, editorial writers, Bush haters, Cheney haters, blacks, Hispanics, Russians, Chinese, Japanese, etc.
Oh, and a registry for blog writers to see if one lives near me.

As much as I despise this Van Dyke dude, he had every legal right to bail out. For a prosecutor to jump to some conclusion that he bailed out so he can run is ridiculous and unprofessional, especially considering that the prosecutor is the one who made a legal blunder.

I would also like to see a registry for any violent criminals that might live close. I know where sex offenders live and if statistically they re-offend less than others then I certainly want to know who those others are.
Sex offenders may be pariahs but they are not the only danger to our children.
