to be the first person to comment on this NON-STORY, since Plaisted and Cummard will never, ever, ever be drafted, and therefore will be suiting in BYU blue next season.

I second that opinion

I don't see either of them going either. I do see the value of testing the waters, learning about the process and what is required - so that next year they will be more ready for their opportunities.

If Plaisted dosen't hone up his overall game( 15 to 20 foot jumpers and better skills around the rim) he will be forunate to play overseas. He has good size and ability. I don't understand why he has not improved that aspect of his game over the last three years. Bad coaching or a stubborn star. You would think that Rose would be able to motivate the tall Texan to up his game. Or maybe Trent is at the top of his game. Next season we will know for sure.

But confident that Cummard will one day play in the NBA, although hopefully not next year.
With his long arms and athleticism, he is not all that much unlike Andrei Kirelenko with his ability to change the game on both ends of the court.
Very hopeful that they both return for their senior seasons in Provo and lead the Cougars to long-awaited and long-overdue NCAA glory. A sweet 16 appearance would be well....so sweet!

There is only one point I disagree with plaistead was not a dominant center in the league.
While he may have the ability, while he had good numbers, he certainly never physically domainated anyone. If he wasn't 6'11" he may not even have played that much.
Although he has the athleticism and ability I don't think if he will figure out how play like real bigman.
Ne needs to develop a number of interior moves. He need least a medium jumpshot.
And he neeed to learn to use his height, too often he plays like he is 6'7".

Sad to see these two quality "college" athletes stir up the program with a pipe dream like this.

I too think that neither player is ready for the NBA. But what do I know. I like to read what is going on in Provo. It gives me something to momentarily think about other than McCain. Obama, Clinton, Wright, Iraq, Social Security, Meducare, Gas Prices, Gangs, Food Prices, Vandalism, Mortgage Payments, etc..

No way either guy is good enough to get drafted (even in the second round). There is a real world of college hoops out there beyond the MWC.
Back to reality, boys.

Did the thought ever occur to anyone that Commard and Plaisted really don't enjoy playing for Rose that much. Plaisted can shoot but in the Rose system of running and gunning three's it's very difficult for big people to fit in. An inside outside game seems more like the way to win road games and NCAA games.

Plaisted will not come back. I have sources that say from his family that he will go overseas if he does not get drafted. He does not get along with Coach Rose and wants to play pro now. Cummard I think will be back.

Niether will play in the NBA...keep dreaming, at least it is free.

Plaisted does not have the ability to play center in the NCAA let alone in the NBA. He has a technique problem with his shot and therefore cannot make free throws our shoot the medium range shot as a potential power forward. Note how he does not have a normal follow through like most and has a flip of the wrist that only works occasionally. Cummard is another story, he has the ability to play in the NBA and is Much like Prince of the Pistons, tall and rangy. It would be a shame for him to depart a year early. He needs another year of seasoning. Let Plaisted go, he can be replaced by a number of players including Miles and McGregor. Rose is an excellent coach regardless of what people think. Is there a problem with him and Plaisted? Who knows? But Plaisted needs to work on his shooting skills and those cannot be honed in the NBA or overseas.

I really think Plaisted could improve into an NBA player if he developed a jump shot and the ability to put the ball on the floor. Can he do that his senior season if he hasn't by now? Who knows? Maybe a season at power forward with Miles at center would help develop those next level skills. Move TJ to small forward with Cunmmard at big guard. Cummard on the other hand probably does not have a lot to improve other than his visibility with a strong 20 point, 10 rebound senior season and repeat MVP. In reality, at their best, they are both probably overseas guys can translate into a nice career. But they can do that next year as well - I would love to see them back to put together a truly special Cougar season with a couple of NCAA tourney wins and co-MVP honors. Who knows, if there is some friction between Plaisted and Rose he may go no matter what. And it may be that his wife does not want to do another year of the comments and scrutiny.

If Plaisted can't dominate a weak 6'7 Joe Darger of UNLV, how does he expect to fare against Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer and Dwight Howard?

As a former player of Coach Rose, I can tell you that (if) Trent and Rose were not getting along, it's not because of Coach Rose! It's Trent either thinking he's way better than he actually is and therfore complaining that he should play more or shoot more, or he's lazy and has a bad attitude. I have a hard time seeing Trent as being lazy, so I bet he's bitter over something actually pretty petty, and it's hurting him more than it's helping. My advise for Trent would be to talk to Rose (if) there is a problem and then do what they ask you to do, and do it with all your might, mind, and soul. Trent has Great Coaches. Your lucky! Take advantage of the moment.

The root of all this talk comes from the uncontrolled pack of joy-boy agents who will tell anyone anything to get a client. Consider that the NBA has capped the percentage agents get from the leagues players, vs the European league which have no caps whatsoever. This will be the deepest draft in history. We may get into the 2nd round without a senior being drafted. Look at the numbers just out of the PAC-10, and tell me that the kid from USC, the one from UCLA, and the Lopez brothers from Stanford are all likely to be drafted before Trent. All are athletic big men, not bangers. Trent's stock went sky-high during the first month when Vitale "discovered" him. Since he has faded greatly. And with lack luster performances in the MWC tournament, then in BYU's only NCAA appearance. He is no longer getting any ink. Consider that he was the equal of the player of the year, for a weekend, and now.......?
Cummard is a different animal he may have more options, but we're talking European options, not NBA.
I'm as big of a BYU backer as anyone, but I would as soon see them gone.

I agree that Plaisted has yet to put it all together with any consistency. Here's hoping that the off-season is spent in introspection more than NBA-inspection.
Cummard, on the other hand, with his all-around efforts, both offensive and defensive, has shown that he can carry the load as much as anybody when the big plays need to be made. When he has to do too much and fouls out, the team struggles to win.
With one more fantastic season under his belt, even in the MWC, he'll get some looks.
I see both coming back and BYU with great potential this season.

Coach has this all wired. He knows Plaisted is gone, probably be playing Euro Ball soon after the NBA draft. But Cummard is an x-factor. Coach could get him back. Question Lee has to ask, will another year really improve his draftibility?
I for one, don't think it will.
