Don't get me wrong, SF has a ton of talent. They are however a bit overated, as this game proved.

This group of ball players at SF are tough. They have always beaten the same bingham team over the years. The duke boys are strong players/pitchers. but SF is a talented squad period. would like to see them play bingham..those two groups dont like each other. Can't wait to see the faces of baseball dads at bingham after they lose again and again to SF. good luck SF guys!!

Either Spanish Fork is overrated, or Lone Peak underrated. Spanish Fork's batters looked very bad, and their starter looked tired. I think the Dons have overused their two main starting pitchers, and it's starting to show.

everyone is underestimating the Lone Peak team and have done it all year. Every kid on this team can hit and Sechrist is 7-0 this year. I'm believing lone peak will be the ones to beat Bingham. Spanish relies on the pitching, and when their opponent can hit the ball their team falls apart, just like their last two games. Thursday will be a blast. And, btw - the press hasn't been very kind to lp in giving them their credit either.

Spanish has always been good. There's a lot of great kids around that area. With the Duke brothers both living in Salem where the new high school opens this fall, you wonder if it might be the beginning of the end for SF. Does anyone know if SF is trying to keep them at SF? I'm sure they are.

The good ole' boys deserve every loss they attain.
I just feel bad for the kids w/ talent having to watch the good ole' boys' kids play, and play, and play.

state is a whole new season | 10:09 a.m. April 30, 2008
It's good to be playing your best baseball as the state playoffs approach. In the past, LP has usually been able to do that and that is why they have won 2 state championships in 99 and 00 and made it again to the championship in 05. They appear to playing their best of the year right now as well. However, pitching is the key to a deep playoff run and I'm not sure LP has the pitching to do that. You have to have 2 starters that can consistently give you at least 5 innings followed by at least 2 or 3 quality relievers.

The Dukes will be at SF next year.
LP pitching | 10:33 a.m. April 30, 2008
LP has to keep hitting though, because honestly they don't have strong pitching. Yesterday was the only time the ace has looked like an ace. Timp hit him hard and so did AF.

LP played a great game, but I would not count SP out just yet. When they are off they are off,but when they are on they are on.SP 10 RUNS LP Thursday in five.we all knew LP would win one of the two,no big supprise.

I dont get why your so worried about SF beating Bingham. Bingham got a run for their money last night at kearns, which was a lot closer than the score shows. I can't wait to see the series next week with Riverton. With the winner of the series taking region, that should be the best games all year.
SF??? | 12:09 p.m. April 30, 2008
Why isn't the hanks kid pitching more? I have watched him pitch several times and it seems to me he is SF best pitcher? If i'm not mistaken, hasn't he signed to play college baseball somewhere? Just wondering

Nice job Knights! Keep it up. You're showing that playing as a team is getting you places. The Knights were picked at or near the bottom of Region 4.....my oh my how wrong that prediction has been. But, it's understandable with only 2 seniors starting and a new coach, that they would be picked to finish there. They are a great bunch of kids and have been fun to watch over-achieve everyone's predictions!! Go LP!

why are all of you looking for teams in region 4 to beat Bingham? if you were to look at the standings you would see that Bingham is not at the top of region 3. Riverton is.That may not mean much, but they're figuring out a way to win games.
?? | 12:39 p.m. April 30, 2008
Glad to know that Spanish Fork is so worried about Bingham. I don't get it. By the looks of things they should concentrate on their Region 4 foes before they start looking at other regions.

you need to get a grip. lots of sf players and bingham players are very good friends. hanks, duke boys, nielson, etc. have played junior olympics with giron, whitney, rasmussen, raymond, etc. and get along well. quit trying to put something up here that isn't true. ask either side and they will say the same thing as i have.
re: to baseball fan | 1:12 p.m. April 30, 2008
That right, these teams get along very well. Both sides are very complimentary to each other and consider them both good friends, and great baseball players. It's too bad that "baseball fan" is trying to make trouble where there is none.

Let's get back on topic. Are the Dons overrated? Are the Dukes being overworked? Are the Knights underrated? Is Lone Peak's pitching too weak?

re:Lone Peak Pitching-
Daniel Sechrest is my brother and to address the person who said he isn't really an ace: Sure you may think Timp and AF hit him hard but he won those games didn't he. He's 7-0 and has an ERA in 1-2 range. He throws in the low 90's to average. But maybe I'm biased. Let's see what objective people have to say- He's signed a great scholarship with BYU allegedly the best they've ever offered anyone for baseball and he has had Pro scouts at several of his games this year, Mariners, Devil Rays, etc. What more do youwant for an ace.

Your brother is a "prospect". An "ace" is already there consistancy wise. Good luck at BYU. It is always good when local kids make it.
Ace | 2:44 p.m. April 30, 2008
Thanks I appreciate your well wishes even if we disagree about whether or not 7-0 is consistent.

Northridge vs Bingham (Wheres Region 4?)
5-A Finals | 7:55 p.m. May 5, 2008
Contrary to what the "press" keeps writing about region 4, they might be watching. Probably will not be Bingham vs Northridge though. Possibly another region 3 team though.
wow | 3:34 p.m. May 6, 2008
daniel sechrest averages in the low 90's? i've been hearing that same tune since he was a sophomore, but have yet to see him average above 86 for a game. obviously he has a great deal of potential being 6'6, but at his size if he truly averaged in the low 90's he would be an early round draft pick. Also, if his curve isn't working for him on any given day he is in big trouble. he has a lot of potential, but a lot to work on.
re 90mph fast ball | 1:17 p.m. May 8, 2008
remember if anyone knows about baseball a 90 mph fastball is only good if is accurate. there is alot to be said for hitting your spots and being in the mid 80's. DS has been pitching 90 for three yrs??? a litty spotty on the target. big kid
whats the AVERAGE pitch in MLB
correct me if i am wrong 86-88.... so my money is on the kid that can hit the glove not try to over throw! ( and throw 88-90) good luck to all the pitchers out there as they and their team mates battle for state!
