Mr. Arnold and Macy's are being disingenuous. They talk about reducing the "span of control" and "localization" via "MyMacy's", but everything they do speaks too a national Macyfication campaign, which has always been their actual motive.

The reality is that most of the eleven legacy department store brands that Macy's extinguished tended to carry MORE than 15% local labels/brands, so Macy's has reduced that considerably. It has also fied nearly 10,000 LOCAL staff across the country (I know because I was one of those). In short, there really is no such thing as "MyMacy's", unless you are Terry Lungren CEO, of course.

Expect more Alfani and Donald Trump suits folks. That's the low cost, high volume schlock that Macy's truly prefers.

Wow. How did 2,300 staff turn to 10,000?

10,000 is more or less correct. Since Macy's deep-sixed all of the other department store brands and rebranded everything as Macy's - in other words, since they bought May- they have terminated approx. 10,000 folks across the country. 2,300 was merely the latest round. I'm sure there will be more- in the form of store closures and reduction of the back-office staff in Cincy- as its Macy's everywhere campaign continues to struggle and as the economy knocks the last legs out from that particular NY company.

Macys business model is to sell average products at very high prices. Do they have stock? Is it too late to short them?

Macy's business model is to insult consumers by "re-educating" them. Macy's motto is: "We will tell you what you want rather than listen to you tell us."

I hate Macy's and everything they stand for.

This is just another in the long list of failed attempts by macy*s to convince shoppers to purchase poorly made, over-priced generic merchandise. Too bad people have realized that quality and value are not part of "the magic of macy*s."

Macy's has turned so many great department stores into a complete junky store filled with bland, boring but higher priced discounted goods that can be had at WalMart, JCPenny, Kohls and Target. There private labels are a joke and most of their stores are a sea of 50-80% "Clearance Racks". A better motto for Macy's would be Macy's, "America's Bargain Basement Bin Emporium"!
