Like some have said, Lone Peak doesn't have enough quality pitching. Great hitting team though, and normally better defensively. Next week will be fun. Lone Peak is still in good shape, because if Timp and SF split, Lone Peak probably wins the league.

The only earned runs that SF had were off of LP's starter in the first 2 innings. Stephan threw 4 solid innings with no earned runs and Flygare a freshman held SF to two runs.
LP - not enough pitching | 12:24 p.m. May 2, 2008
LP has Secrest and that's about it. When they get to the state playoffs they are going to be in trouble pitching wise since you have so many games scheduled in a short amount of time. Hitting is important but pitching is what will allow you to move deep into the playoffs. Every year that LP has had at least 2 good starters along with a couple of decent relievers they have made to the championship game and you could say the same for Timpanogos and Spanish Fork. Baseball playoffs (even in the majors) has a way of exposing teams that have gotten by on hitting alone during the regular season.

You obviously have only read about this story. That was Jared Christensen's first bad game of the year. He always gives his team an oppurtunity to win. And when you have a great hitting team, a sub-par game will usually be made up for. Yesterday was a very bad game. Everyone has bad games. Also, LP has a very solid reliever in Ryan Stephan. Everytime he has come in so far he has done well. Got the win against AF, held down Timp, and had no earned runs against Spanish.
Bad Pitching?? | 1:01 p.m. May 2, 2008
Actually LP has very solid pitching proven by the fact that LP has the 4th lowest averaged runs scored against them with 4.33 in the state. Pitching is what makes that number and is the result of solid pitching by Secrest, Stephan and Christensen against the very best teams in the state including Spanish, Timp and AF.

They have pleanty of good arms to survive in the state playoffs. It will come down to wether they have enough guts to battle for there team. I have seen them play a few times, and they have all the ability to go far in the tournament. Spanish is also a good team and can go deep in the tournamnet.

sf may have plenty of arms BUT they dont get used until they are down in the game. i heard that the dukes are the two pitchers and the others were not going to be used unless needed. so what i have seen and heard from other parents is that they only use the dukes. ( unless in trouble which is looks like in the paper the last 4 or 5 games they have had to pull in the other kids.) to bad for spanish this is a replay of last yr. it might be to late. lots of good arms that have gone to waste. i hope they can use the other pitchers because they cant ride two arms alone. adam looks like his may already be sore!! good luck spanish if you get your bats going you may have a chance GO SF
