I wonder if this move is to have a head coach lined up if Boylen bolts after a couple of successful seasons.

Lots of insecure Ute fans. It's one thing when BYU fans mention BYU in regards to an article about the Utes but now the Ute fans are mentioning BYU even when BYU is not mentioned in the story.

Now we're in position to get rid of Boylen after this next mediocre season and put Peery in as HC.
Good guy | 1:25 p.m. May 5, 2008
Peery is a great guy who is an unbelievable recruiter. If he is able to bring in amazing talent to Twin Falls Idaho from all over the nation, imagine what he will do at Utah.

I have seen him coach the last couple of years against SLCC and we are really lucky to have him as a coach. He has a lot to offer. Congrats Barret and GO UTES!!!

You are kidding right? The fact that Boylen had a mediocre season last year is amazing. Having known Giac may be the worst thing Utah Basketball has had to experience. Boylen had this "mediocre" team competing with what some people were saying the best BYU team ever. (sad that the best ever cant beat A&M) Boylen teaches this thing called defense that Giac never knew. That D is what got the utes and Big Rick (one of the greatest college basketball coaches ever IMO) to the big dance consitently.
GO UTES!!!!

Peery was able to recruit to the College of Southern Idaho because a JC can accept players that can't qualify for D1. It remains to be seen whether he can recruit academically qualified players to the U.

Peery was a big part of Southern Utah's NCAA Tournament team (which went 25-8) from 2001. He's a great coach. Bill Evans was never able to adequately replace him.
I'm not a U fan, but this is a good hire for the Utes.

The "U" fans are lucky to have someone who is as good at his job as Barret. He will be a fantastic asset to your program. He knows how to win.

All those Ute tourney wins? How many came in seasons Majerus cheated by practicing 25 to 30 hours a week, against NCAA regulations. Heck, give any team an extra two or three practices, and they'd execute game plans pretty good. Yeah, Go, Utes.
Best ever? | 6:11 p.m. May 5, 2008
Best BYU team ever??? Maybe in the MWC.
Show how IQ-less most Yewt fans are.
Come back when you have a win to two against BYU that you can brag about.

Congrats BP, we always knew you were headed for the big time. Lots of luck at Utah. (Now you can wear your Red again!)
Re: Portis | 9:43 p.m. May 5, 2008
Come on! Don't take out your frustration on accusing Majerus of cheating back in the day. Giving players "milk and cookies" is hardly something to call cheating. Assuming you're a byu fan, enjoy being on top while you can. Unfortunately, no one cares outside of Utah until you do something in the tournament. Maybe the resume of Majerus' teams can provide some good examples of what is required to gain some respect out of the MWC.

The U of U is getting a high quality, talented coach in Barret Peery. Cougar fan no longer, Go Utes!
Boylen's hires | 9:43 a.m. May 6, 2008
On paper it appears as if Boylen’s last two hires (Stan Johnson and Barret Peery) are going to be really good.
The Utes will improve upon their substantial growth they achieved last year.

Utah is lucky to have Barrett. Not only is he a great coach, as evidenced by his record, he is a great guy. He and his family have been a wonderful part of our community. We knew he wouldn't last here long, but we hoped to have him another year or two. We in Twin Falls will miss him and his family. Good luck, Barrett. Sad to see you go. We (especially our youth) will miss you.
