Judging by David's popularity with 'tweens and teens, I'll be going nowhere near Murray on Friday! Can you say "traffic jam?"

Judging by the frenzied popularity of David Archuleta among 'tweens and teens, I won't be going anywhere near Murray on Friday. Can you say "traffic jam?"

David Archuleta is awesome! I got hooked on A.I. this year in large part because of him. What a great kid!

Thanks for an article that goes past David's cuteness and mass appeal. I am neither tween nor grandma, and not necessarily a fan of AI or any TV show for that matter, but a Harvard graduate student who has witnessed first hand the healing nature of art and music in the lives of high risk youth. I chanced upon an article about David and his version of Imagine, and like so many others, have come to marvel at someone who sings from his soul and understands the power of song. Pure goodness such as this is rare and lucky are we to witness it.

Wow, too much analysis for me. Thanks for your insight (Harvard Grad)...David is a great singer, but I think the other David has got the "it" factor to win the competition. Go Murray! Go David A. enjoy the festival and I certainly look forward to hearing him sing at the Jazz game.

Re: "RE:Lil Me"
I don't think Lil Me was attempting to give any insight. I think they were simply stating that they are pleased that the article didn't go on about how "cute" D.A. is.
I figured that out and didn't go to Harvard... but perhaps I should have.

People who say his fans are only the tweens are ignorant. Very very ignorant.
As far as David Cook, yes he's the pick by AI producers to win this year. They will do anything and everything to make him win this year including throw little D. under the bus.
Whatever they do though, they can't deny Archulets'a mass appeal and popularity, and great talent. His career has started, no one can stop that.

David Archuleta has talent looks and not only that he is a very genuine soul. People who say bad things about him are just jealous. I hope David will be our next american idol!

I like Archuleta because he is someone I can respect. Music is more meaningful when it comes from individuals with true character.

I think if AI would have let David A sing what he wanted, he would have been the unanamous winner. If he does not win I will still buy CDS of his.May the LORD be with him.

David has a very good voice but honestly I do not think he will have success at certain venues. To me he sounds like a person that you would go listen to in an ampitheatre or an auditorium setting instead of something like The McKay Events Center at UVU. He is seems more like the type that I would go to a nice dinner wearing a tie then to see him but would not wear jeans. but don't get me wrong he is very good.
David Cook? | 2:48 p.m. May 6, 2008
I just don't know how people think he is original. He looks and sounds just like the bands I used to hang out with. I had a roommate who played in a local band and I would hang out with a lot of local small touring bands and he looks and sounds just like them. He is not original at all.

What do you mean, the producers have chosen David Cook, etc? Is this the rumor or something? I haven't heard it yet. It doesn't matter if David Archuleta wins or not (and he really should) I think his future will be very bright. I am a Murrayite and I am so proud to say this young man lives in my hometown!
Super!! | 3:32 p.m. May 6, 2008
Well in my eyes David Archuleta is already an American Idol! He's a good kid and I wouldn't mind my kids listening to his CD's. In fact I would even buy them for my kids and me to listen too. WAY TO GO DAVID!!

At this point I don't think it matters whether its David A or David C that wins it. I can't see David A selling out concerts, but then again I couldn't imagine Carrie Underwoods success either. Nobody has a crystal ball. I wish them all the best and hope the biz doesn't ruin them.

As far as I am concerned David Archuleta is the ONLY choice for Idol! He exemplifies what an IDOL should be: Talented beyond his years, a kind and generous soul, compassionate and just an excellent role model! I wish him all the luck and I am certain he will have a wonderful career!! I have never been a fan or watched American Idol until I seen him sing one evening--Now I NEVER miss it!
re:Patrick Starfish | 5:02 p.m. May 6, 2008
Did you mean "condiment"?
Blue Jays fan | 5:08 p.m. May 6, 2008
I wish David A would come to Toronto to sing the National Athem for the Blue Jays game. Even if the ticket remaining for sale is the most expensive, I will still go to the ballgame, just to see and hear my little David A sings. He is the Best.
Bigger Venue | 6:00 p.m. May 6, 2008
Well, I bet he could fill the conference center even though I am sure that is not going to happen. But lets find a bigger venue than a high school theater. Now there's not point in even trying to go see him. I am glad he is performing at the Jazz game though and hope he wins it all.
Me2 | 7:42 p.m. May 6, 2008
What is the issue to work out? I know one of the another contestant that is going to sing at the 7th inning. Stars Bangled Banner is one of the hardest songs to sing. Can't wait for this version in utube!
Anonymous | 8:36 p.m. May 6, 2008
I thinkthat is neat that he gets to sing @ that the Utah, Lakers, game, That place willbe a sell out crowd, you got to give him a chance he has made it so far and has done so good, I hope that at the Jazz game everyone shows respecet, to him as he sings the National Anthem. Go David,

The best thing about David is seeing him overcome his shyness! He brings tears to my eyes everytime he finishes his song. I hope that he will be able to deal with all this popularity. Coming home to Murray will be a real eye opener for a guy who has been in his own little circle of friends at Murray.
I'm hoping he will handle it well.
Good Luck in all you do David!

David was 100% on tonight, he beat the other three on both songs. I was amazed at how he could just make these songs his and sing with heart and soul. I am sure that he will be putting out a very mellow CD, when he does, I will have to use it to go to sleep by, which is the honored CD in my life. I am sure that it will be the two David's as the final two, Jason was terrible tonight, if he stays, it will be unfair to Syeshia, but he should have gone last week. I hope that I can get the game on Friday and that they will be playing David singing.
kathy | 1:46 a.m. May 7, 2008
you know the kid is something special when even at a press conference of HSM3 they mention the young man and his wonderful voice. He is a wonderful singing talent and I wish him the very best. I know he has my vote. I think the final two will be the Two David's. But no matter the outcome that week David A. will have a long and properous career ahead of him Best Wishes to you David

I live in LA, and I see talented kids (equally if not more cute) all over the place. He drones out most songs with relative skill, but does not bring any pop feel to his persona. I always find it to be very thinly veiled when the judges have (for whatever reason) pre-selected their favorites and dislikes...and then consistently, and often in stark contrast to a performance, exercise their will upon the judgement of the American people. I really don't know why we have the judges at all. If they are not going to be consistently objective from season to season...what's the point?
Carole | 10:53 p.m. May 7, 2008
Wow, David Archuleta, way to go. What is really cool, is you are from Murray. Yes I know where Murray is. My son has cheered you on all season, because not only for your talent, also being about the same age, my son was born in Murray, UT. Two great souls coming from Murray UT.

If the producers have already picked the winner--what is the purpose of the show and having people to vote if you do the choosing! I don't understand this. If David Archuleta is done like Melinda was last year American Idol will be no more for me. How can someone that has been the top numbers of votes not win?? The show ought to be canceled if it is indeed the producers that pick. Ok last year they said Jodin was more youthful --ok so is David and besides this Jordin was only a ok singer David Archuleta is "as Paula said " way beyond his years. Go David. SOOOOOOOOO many are behind you all the way!
