If only you had the passion for your country, that you do for an individual on a TV show.

More people vote for Idol, than for president. That ought to tell you something right there.

Webster defines cynic this way:
ancient Greek philosophers who held virtue to be the only good, and stressed independence from worldly needs and pleasures; they became critical of the rest of society and its material interests.

Now watch some wacky neocon start whining: "Webster was a liberal!" Or "Webster sounds like a commie!"

More people vote for Idol than for president? Where did you get THAT?

Over 120 million adults voted in the 2004 presidential election. And they were only allowed to vote once each (we hope).

I think something like 45 million voted last week, and it was one of the highest if I recall correctly. And people frequently vote dozens of times each. Don't forget the teens voting there, too....and texting...

Please.

And just because people are passionate about one thing doesn't mean they don't care about another.

There's your first cynics: John and Webster's definition.

Great editorial and I agree. To bash something good and wholesome, and to raise question of its authenticity is shameful.

Joe: You took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you.
