Hey Jazz Fans...
Get ready for some fun with the Lakers. Despite the outrageous rebounding, the Lakers still beat the Jazz. When was the last time the Jazz ever won the championship? It looks like the Jazz's path to ultimate glory will end soon. Probably the Jazz's best chances to win in the West is to play against the aging Spurs, whom probably can beat the Jazz like the Lakers are.
Enjoy what is left of the Jazz. The formula for winning under Sloan has not translated to championship(s).
So, Jazz, be physical and all, but it is a wasted effort to be an obstacle in the Lakers way to glory.

LOL! To hear KOBE say "Jeff Hornacek played the last 7 years on one leg, and was very effective."
Sounds like Fisher has been providing some locker room entertainment for Phil and the gang.

Doesn't matter what anyone in the media says: I will ALWAYS think D-Fish is a Benedict Arnold Traitor!!!
And I will ALWAYS boo Da-Fish whenever I see him.
Now, if he signed with the Nicks or the Nets, I'd truly respect him for "living closer to where his little girl could be treated."
Besides, Da-Fish never played that great of defense...

Fish Knows Slown? | 6:40 a.m. May 7, 2008
Now there is a news worthy story. I think the whole NBA "knows slown". He does nothing different from decade to decade. Yes, he will make the playoffs where the majority of Jazz fans and LHM are content to have their behinds handed to them by the likes of the Spurs and Lakers. Oh yeah, he made it to the NBA finals twice only to have Jordan bash any hope of the title. Look at it this way Jazz fan, the NBA championship trophy was awarded in SLC, only to the opposing team. Sound familiar? Kobe is not Michael Jordan, but the Jazz are the Spazz and a direct reflection of Slown. No change and very predictable. Can't pick and roll because of a very soft Boozer. Slown is now lost.
I hate the Lakers and I cannot say I love the Jazz. I hate to watch horrible basketball. The problem with the Jazz is that they are totally capable of beautiful basketball but lack the heart to maintain it. The only consistancy the Jazz have is Slown's predictability and the Jazz's inconsistancy. Hate to say it, but Lakers in 5. Go Celtics.

Not only has Kobe Bryant learned to pass, but he has great players to pass to. The Jazz don't have a chance. They could have a chance if Boozer sprouted a backbone, but he hasn't shown any evidence of that.

First off learn to spell its Sloan, not Slown. and Fisher is an idiot for going to LA not New York where his daughter is. He is a lier and his team deserves to lose. Watch out the Jazz will take game 2 tonight, as they have had more time to prepare and will be upset for not winning game 1. the Jazz will win games 2, 3 and 4 lakers game 5 and jazz win the series in 6. The Jazz will then beat the Hornets who will beat the spurs. Then the Jazz will go on to beat any team in the east. This is the year the Jazz win the Championship.

Harpring's comment about Kobe getting so many free throws, saying "They're just free shots", is classic! Made me laugh. Truly, free throws are free shots-he nailed that one didn't he!

But it drives me crazy when Jazz fans blame Sloan for all their problems he is one of the best coahces in the NBA and should have been coach of the year at least twice. No matter what happens in the series coach Sloan is much respected by everyone in the NBA except his own home town fans.

All you haters are sorry...
To all Jazz fans,
You utah people kill me, you keep having this on going internal assurance that miraculously the jazz are going to win an NBA championship. They never have... Just like how all of you think that the BYU football team will win a national championship... Listen.. IT"LL NEVER HAPPEN... The Jazz and the Cougars are the biggest chokes in the leagues... If the jazz couldn't get it done with Stockton and Malone, how will they ever get it done with Boozer and Williams?
Go Lakers...
"Good luck stopping the MVP"...KOBE...

Now that the Jazz are rested and ready to go what's your excuse going to be now when the Jazz they lose game two. Make sure and get to back on here after tonight.

Not even sure that your comment deserves a comment, but... I don't think you would recognize sarcasm if it sat down in front of you and said "Hello, I'm Sarcasm, it's nice to meet you..." (Um, Sloan vs. "Slown"...?) some people just don't get it... Sigh...

Jazz fan #1. But I think their might be a bit too much pixie dust in your 3.2 beer.
Here's a warm and fuzzy: In 1988, we pushed the Lakers to 7, putting the Jazz on the NBA map for the first time ever. Then Utah beat LA in 5 in 97 (Kobe's rookie year)...and swept them in the 98 WCF.
So, even with Sunday's loss, our all time playoff record vs. the Lakers is 11-6.
Another tidbit -- Jazz have won at least one game IN Los Angeles in each prior series...as they will tonight.
Hey I don't care - glad to hear you still plan to boo Fisher. It's just that idiotic mentality that keeps players from wanting to come here and the national media depicting us as back water hillbillies. Spoze you were one of the geniuses throwing stuff on the floor after the Spurs game 4 last season. Well played.
Anyone here still give the Spurs a chance vs. NO? I'm not convinced that series is over.
Good luck Jazz -- make it 12-6 vs. the Lakers in the playoffs tonight.

I'm a BYU fan, but some of you Jazz fans are sounding like BYU fans who are planning, yes planning, on crashing the BC$. It's totally ridiculous. The Jazz just don't look like a NBA championship team. Yes, they have a chance, but for anyone to predict a clear winner over all if off his rocker, cuz no one can clearly predict the outcome of this evenly matched series.
HuskerJazzFan | 9:18 a.m. May 7, 2008
RE: Jazz Fan #1 - "Fish Knows Slown?" is obviously using a play on "clown" when he refers to Sloan as Slown. It's a weak joke.
On a positive note, it may not be this year, because I'm not sure Booz can recover his confidence soon enough, but this is one of the youngest teams in the NBA and they are just getting better. If they can keep the nucleus together for 3-4 years I think Sloan gets a Championship or 2. Especially if Booz put some offseason effort into getting better on the defensive side.
I'm not giving up on this year, obviously, but Booz needs to snap out of it for any chance of that to happen.

re: its over? | 9:24 a.m. May 7, 2008
Thats what the Rockets thought when they came into the series with the 2nd best defense in the league and another supposed superstar named McLady. Despite all his phantom foul calls--it is still over.
Oh well, as Charles and Kenny like to say, now they've "gone fishin"!!!
I guess the 2nd best defense was not quite as good as the "20-year-old, tired, predicable offense".
This series with the Flakers is not over--win or lose the Flakers will know they played the toughest team they will face all year.

Thanks for that, I appreciate you letting us know you are a Laker fan so we can totally disregaurd your opinions.
Tonights game is going to be a battle, I think the Jazz are going to have to shoot the ball resonably well to win.
So here's my prediction, IF the Jazz shoot over 30% from outside the arc and IF Boozer posts a 20/10 game, the Jazz win, if those two things don't happen...
THE JAZZ STILL WIN!
The Lakers are going down tonight, at home, and the series is going back to Utah all tied up. Kobe is going to score 30+ but he will shoot less than 45% from the feild, DWill is going to attack the center of the Laker D until it crumbles, and the Jazz will outrebound the Lakers again.
Jazz in 6!!!

It's really funny that to you success against the Lakers means 9 of 11 wins in the post season in the 90's when Kobe was a rookie off the bench. . .That more than makes up for never winning a championship and watching the Lakers add more banners to the rafters. And it certainly suggests that Utah will win the series . . . I like how you play those stats. Well played.
STEVE-O | 11:36 a.m. May 7, 2008
Just for the record, I think the "Slown" comments are pretty funny. I laugh each time I read it! The series could very well hang in the balance tonight. The Jazz will be in great shape if they can get a win tonight! I predict the Jazz have a well rounded game and they win by 7 points.

Hugh G. Hater | 11:54 a.m. May 7, 2008
The Jazz will be swept. Mark my words.
Boozer will continue to play like a girl.
Dwill can only do so much.
Memo and AK are awol.
The refs will not give our team any leeway on getting fouls called. They must protect the big market team and the mvp.
Wish it wasn't so, but it is.

Game time is 8:30 MST.
PS. Everyone needs to get off Boozer's back. He is doing OK. He is getting double doubles every game, and if the Lakers concentrate on him, the others need to step up. The Jazz play team ball. We don't need someone trying to be a superstar.

I pick the Jazz to lose tonight for one reason -- the game is in L.A., where the referees will likely call things tight on one end and loose on the other end. The close calls will go to L.A. for the most part and most of the bad calls will go in the Lakers' favor. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it will be tonight. However, the Jazz, I think are a better overall team when they stick to their game plan, which is to play tough D, help each other out on D by rotating quickly when somebody beats his guy, pass the ball on offense to the open guy, and work the ball inside first, shooting jumpers only when necessary or when a double team gives a good shooter a great open shot. If the Jazz bring their A game, they can beat anybody, including the Lakers, on the road. Unfortunately, Boozer and others often bring their C game on the road, giving up on driving to the hoop if they pick up an offensive foul or get blocked. You have to keep pushing the ball inside to be successful on the road.
Sloan is Great | 1:05 p.m. May 7, 2008
Sloan is a master coach and one thing that has always made him effective is that he has Larry Miller's full support. He has shown himself to be flexible and to adjust to his team's strengths. He's stubborn when it pays to be stubborn, such as insisting that outside shooter wait until there's a rebounder in positioning before casting up long jumpers and insisting that each player concentrate on playing help defense. His genius is realizing that basketball is a simple game and that successful teams stick to simple basics. He has done remarkably well with the talent that he has had. Malone, Stockton and Hornacek succeeded beyond anybody's expectations with practically no bench help. Now he has a team that is not as talented on the starting five as those old Jazz games but has a better bench, but this is the third youngest team in the league and really shouldn't be in this position, batting for a berth in the conference championship. Yet here they are, getting better all the time, proving the naysayers wrong. You who hate Sloan so much, who do you want here anyway? The Little General? Doug Moe? Paul Westhead? Jeff Van Gundy?
re: rich | 1:13 p.m. May 7, 2008
Is everyone here seriously this uninformed about the foul situation?
Again - - - -
Utah led the league in fouls per game with 24 FPG. GM 1 they committed 33 fouls, 93 above average. Sloan said after the game that his team committed too many lazy fouls and probably had 5 jersey pulling fouls because they were a step too slow.
Take those lazy fouls away that Sloan called out and you're down to 28 fouls.
Now go back and watch the end of the game - just the last 3 minutes and you'll see 5 more fouls by the Jazz to stop the clock and send the Lakers to the FT line.
Take those clock management fouls away and you are down to 23 fouls.
Now, is it seriously hard to believe that the Jazz couldn't commit 23 fouls in one game when they average 24? The Lakers were called for 27 fouls - actual fouls - not shot clock fouls. So even then it's a 27 to 28 foul comparison. How exactly is that calling it loose on one end and tight on the other end?
Stop blaming the refs for poor defense. Sloan didn't.

Why must you respond to his critics by arguing that since another coach hasn't been suggested, none exist?
What do YOU want? Another 20 years of big men failing us in the playoffs? Another 20 years of young talent leaving? Another 20 years of unathletic teams getting burned in transition?

I see Fisher as a "turncoat" and he does know the Jazz system intimately. To me he's the enemy now.
I hope the Jazz get some answers on how to beat the Lakers. Do something different, throw fish off, be different than what he's reporting to the Jackson camp.

"he does know the Jazz system intimately."
Hate to break it to you but so does everyone else. It's called high pick and roll with 2 or 3 side roll options for open shots or cutters. It's the same offense that Stockton and Malone ran for years. It's the offense that Fisher ran in HS and college.
Sloan isn't a great coach because he has a secret playbook. He's a great coach becauses he coaches his team to play the pick/roll to perfection.
So - as a Lakers fan I'm glad because Fish belongs in LA and adds stability and maturity to the team but I definitely don't think he's adding a great wealth of insight to the Jazz secret plays.

BJ Jazzy Rasta - Keys to Game 2 | 2:47 p.m. May 7, 2008
Prediction for Game 2:
Jazz shoot 38% from 3-Point land
Jazz will make 80% of their free-throws
AK47 will get:
-10 points
-5 rebounds
-3 assists
-4 blocks
-2 steals
If these 3 things happen, we will win and come back to Utah with a lot of confidence. I believe we will win three straight starting tonight, lose game 5, and then win in SLC in game 6.

All your arguements revolve around the question: "How many championships have the Jazz won?" I know the answer because I have been a Jazz fan my whole life, unlike those of you who hop to whichever team is hot...
Being a loyal fan is not about championships. It's about sticking with a team during the high and the lows. I don't care that they haven't won a championship. So stop bringing it up as a focal arguement because it blows. I would rather have a team of players that I respect than a bunch of championships and guys who I morally can't stand...

You'll see some better ball tonight from the Jazz I can guarantee that! Boo ya!!

I won't disagree that these games will be hard fought. Each game will be a contest. But when it comes down to it the Lakers will sweep the series.
re; Besides | 5:01 p.m. May 7, 2008
Just because your team wins . . . well not YOUR team. . . doesn't mean you're a bandwagon fan. Life-long Lakers fans went through ups and downs like any other team except that our High was higher than your high.
It's funny that to a Jazz fan any time another team is winning they assume the fans of that team must be bandwagon fans. It's like a cycle of abuse - you are constantly abused by a false sense of hope each year so you assume others must be doing something immoral to have such happiness.
