Medications for depression and anxiety can be powerful, but does not alter the brain to the point of total dominance over free will. They do affect thinking and other motor faculties if the subject didn't need the medication in the first place. Most of the time medications are not needed, but prescribed for a quick fix. PTSD and the possibly mythical ADD do not require medication in most instances, just a good load of love and release of emotion.

I have seen and know the problems withdrawls from these drugs can cause. He is literally being tortured from within. The best thing I found was to not put the person back on the meds, and to not to use anti-histamines - they don't work for this. He'll be ok after about 7-10 months, but I've seen it last over 3 years.

Considering this for his trial is just Skordas way of working the system. This guy Ragsdale has to face justice for the murder of his wife, and deal with the withdrawls himself as a personal matter.

No drug in this world will ever make him feel a bit better. If his family wants to help him, they will give him this time to get rid of the toxines in his body. Then, when he has a clear mind, he will start realizing what he did and how narcicistic he is and the remorsing phase will start. It's a long road, a life time nightmare but that's nothing in comparison of what his children are and will live from now on.
Prime Example | 2:08 p.m. May 12, 2008
This article is a prime example of how to manipulate the media into printing a story that would bring some sympathy to your client. Way to go D-news. You can be assured this is a pre-cursor to the "I was insane at the time" plea.

I'd be sick too | 3:05 p.m. May 12, 2008
If I had just shot my wife, and knew I would be spending the rest of my life behind bars, I wouldn't be able to keep any food down either. There's no question why he is sick. What a creep. I feel for the families involved, but what a sick, twisted, and selfish man this Ragsdale character is.
Crime & Punishment | 3:14 p.m. May 12, 2008
Of course he is depressed and has "anxiety". He just murdered his wife and the mother of his children.

The pills didn't work to sooth his guilt for cheating on his wife before he murdered her. Why would they help now?

In addition to the above, the murder was a totally premeditated act as evidenced by the way it was orchestrated and carried out. I agree the attorney is attempting to garner sympathy for his client but I don't believe it will work in this case. I regard Kristy Ragsdale's death as a brutal murder perpetuated by a philandering husband who previously violated his marriage vows and murdered her when she held him accountable. Perhaps Kristy wasn't a perfect person herself, but this horrible act was totally unwarranted.
Sympathy | 3:26 p.m. May 12, 2008
I know I should, but I find it hard to have sympathy for a man who brutally murdered his wife in front of his own kids and is now trying to blame the drugs.

If he's feeling pain now because he can't get his drugs, so be it.

Keep him off the drugs so he will eventually be able to feel the pain caused by the guilt of ending a beautiful life.
Medicate Away Guilt | 3:26 p.m. May 12, 2008
What has our society come to when we now have murderers medicating away their guilt?
??????? | 3:57 p.m. May 12, 2008
What is going on here. Just get him rid of him. He murdered his wife. Plane and simple. Im sick of these guy that kill their wifes. We don't need these kind of jerks around.

News says he lost more than 30 pounds. I am sorry to hear that David, but have you, your lawyer or your family asked how much weight Kristy's mother had lost? How many nights have she had without any sleep? How many nights have your own kids go to sleep asking and/or crying for their mother? Those little angels didn't do anything to loose their mother still they are facing this struggle in their lives at this early eage WITHOUT PILLS !!

If I shot my wife, I'd probably have trouble keeping food down, too. Are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

Monsters who kill deserve no medication to make them feel better.

Whatever happened to Christian love and compassion, thank goodness God has more than we do, we just might need it someday.

Maybe he should go cold turkey and cope with the horror he perpetrated. My sympathy goes to Kristi's children, parents, extended family and friends, and NOT to the monster who ended her life and put her loved ones in unending hell.

"Whatever happened to Christian love and compassion?"

It got perverted into an excuse for declaring that there is no such thing as evil, and for neglecting our duty as citizens of a temporal society to uphold temporal justice.

Didn't recent studies demonstrate that some popular name-brand antidepressants are no more effective at alleviating depression than placebos?

Sadly this is an "Open-Shut" case. He was seen by several people SHOOT DOWN HIS WIFE in a CHURCH PARKING LOT no less! How much more malicious can you be? I know we shouldn't judge others without knowing all the circumstances, but HE SHOT in COLD BLOOD and KILLED his wife, the MOTHER of HIS CHILDREN! That is pretty open and shut. I think they should just get to the trial and let the jury do their thing. Guilty should give him life without Parole if not the Death Penalty, Innocent for some reason and leave him be. The system needs to work as it was intended, give him his medication.
More weapons | 10:32 p.m. May 12, 2008
I suppose it is too bad that somemone in the parking lot didn't have a weapon, like an off duty officer.
This case would have been decided then and there and been over.

It's a tragedy for everyone. I am not his Judge, but I would think if the meds caused his problem, then duh, why would you give him them again? The Judicial system is pretty messed up, but it is all we have folks. What seems cut and dry to us, is not the way the law sees it. There are a lot of factors involved here. All we can do is pray for all those involved, especially those little boys and the Palizzi family

Things are never as they seem. I wonder how the Amish people were able to be so forgiving of the man who shot those little girls in Pa. Half of them died. We can never second guess what happens in the mind of sick individuals. It sickens me as much as anyone else what human beings can do to another, but do any of us have the right to make judgements on others. We have not earned that privilage. Only Christ has. The only Judgement I have been taught to use is good judgement. I feel bad for all concerned and pray for justice in the court room. It will not do anyone any good to make hateful remarks. I imagine the Ragsdales are in their own sort of hell along with Kristy's parents and close friends and family.
