State is here... and everyone seems a bit too quiet what happened????

2008 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting 3A, 4A and 5A state tournaments in years. The fields are all wide open..... let the games begin

Springville loses in 2nd round (The don't have one hitter that would start in SC lineup)

Tooele also goes down in the 2nd round to Dixie (Buffalos don't do well in the heat). Tooele will come back through the losers bracket though and finish 3rd behind Dixie and Champion Snow Canyon.

I saw both Tooele vs Springville games and these two are so close how can one be at #5 and the other #9 and both behind Dixie. Switch Dixie with Tooele and you have it right. But the Flyers get to find that out on Thursday ......

The only thing that matters now are the games. Good luck everyone and Go Buffs.

I can't wait til thursday and not only because my team is playing, but also because SC WILL NOT KNOW WHAT HIT THEM! SC WILL NOT be even in the Top 3 Teams. Your pitcher is just too hittable! And PLEASE! You know nothing about these Springville hitters! They hit off of the best pitchers around Every single day! However, I do think that the Tooele and Dixie game will be a good one! That Dixie Coach always does a GREAT job getting his teams ready and prepared for the best. Plus it helps that they get to hit off of him (a pitcher)every day!

I don't mind the rankings, I think it doesn't matter where you rank someone, I personally would rather NOT be ranked. Ppl tend to overlook you that way.

How many Springville games have you seen. They have 2-3 hitters above 400 and one that has 7-9 homeruns. How many hitters does SC have with stats like that against 4A and 5A teams?

One girl with 7-9 homeruns or your whole team? SC has about 15 team HRs.

Cyprus #3 for Region 6 will knock Snow Canyon out and prove to all how our Region is just as good as Region 5 or 7.

Wow such harsh words and only the quarter finals. How bout we leave the teams to do the talking. Why is it that everyone is down grading southern teams, are you scared or something. As for SC's postion it doesn't matter how hittable she is or how great of hitters springville has, Snow Canyon has a great defense to back her up. Any team can win on any given day, so watch urselves and how much smack you talk cause, karma will eat you alive

Looking at Newspaper stats on Desnews I don't see any more than 11 for your team so stop fudging. You may have solid hitting but not power hitting.

I am a parent of one of the players on Springvilles team and I would bet not one of these, so called fans are from Springville. This is not the style of our team or fans though we are passionate about our team we do not put gas on a fire. Every game we play against a good team someone comes on here and starts this childish behavior. Your girls have won 20 games so you are obviously a very talented team and significant challenge to any team in the tournament. Good Luck to you

There it is I said it....... We have the best team in 4A and probably should be ranked about 3rd in the State. We will Finish 24-3 and then we will Finish 2nd in the final State rankings. Our neigbors the Flyers will take 2nd.... and we will let the Region 7 powerhouses fight it out for 3rd!

How Many State Titles does Springville or Snow Canyon have in Softball??? You can drive up to Murray and see what the trophy looks like......

I totally agree with you. I hate how everyone is talking like this, both of the teams are going to play the game with intensity and tons of heart. Being on one of teams myself, i wish both teams good luck. It should be a great game.

Agree with several comments from above about letting the teams do the talking with what happens on the field. All of these verbal lashings mean absolutely nothing. All 1 and 2 seeds held serve, meaning that there are 8 pretty good teams that, on any given day, could play well enough to win the title. Give credit, where credit is due, and acknowledge these ladies for the success that they have (and will have) had. The games will be really competative so let's enjoy!

The Miners are a tough bunch they will begin their fight through the toughest route possible.

Take a good long look at yesterdays Baseball scores between these same two regions. Region 9 dominated, just like they will do in Softball today. Dixie will beat Tooele 6-2 and Snow Canyon will beat Springville 4-1. You can't talk your way to a title, the girls down South are just flat out better ball players .... bank on it!!

As a parent of one of the SHS girls, I believe the Springville girls have a lot of class and integrity. They do not deserve this hate speech directed at them by the comments apparently from SC fans. Also knowing several students who attend SC, I doubt they or their REAL fans are the ones directing these negative comments. Good luck to the Lady Red Devils, I am sure the best team will win.

way to go looks like region 7 beat region 9 springville and tooele have got amazing pitching and both have some very good hitters. Region 9 im sure there are hitters but these two schools have got amazing pitchers.

Maybe off topic here just a bit but here goes... in 1982 softball just started to make a showing in prep sports... many High Schools were combined to make up a team. We had to go knocking on classroom doors to beg teachers to coach so we could have a team. Today - our girls have these tremendous opportunities to compete. Scholarships are more available and the life lessons alone are priceless. I played some college ball - no scholarship, I had to walk on and pay my own way and it was worth every dime and minute of my time. This is so good for our young women - it elevates their character and will add so much to their life. The learning I acquired through both athletics along with academics made a big difference in mine. So, with that said, I am just tickled pink to see our young women compete like this...

Good luck to all of you and cherish every moment... there are lessons to be learned with both the successes and the failures. Life is much like the wins and losses you will experience. Whatever the case, rise from adversity and learn from each success!
