Not all of us find pleasure in one persons voice and there are so many others out there with greater talents that to make such a big deal of one kid who has yet to prove himself. Sad you limit your whole world to one small person Look further into life and you will find oodles of great talent in the valley going on every weekend

You tell us Maxine. Tell us how the important issues of the day go ignored for pop culture fluff, and how much worse off we are for it. Tell us how we've so embraced triviality that it has dumbed down our society.

Said beautifully, Maxine.

I'm not a big Archuleta fan, but I can let people enjoy him if they want.

Amazing how many sourpusses walk amongst us who apparently live only to be critical and grave at all times and about all things.

Such a "Utah conservative" mind-set. In a delusional world where George Bush can do no wrong and the war on terror is "going great," why would people be interested in Iraq and Afghanistan on the front page? And who wants to know about murders and sex offenders in their communities? Besides, those things don't happen here.

This is a head-in-the-sand letter.

The writer says, "The Constitution is unraveling more every day, and it will soon be hanging by a thread." I guess that's "page 3" worthy, too.

To 'wallofvoodo' @ 8:11: You say "Amen!" in support of the most bland, mass-marketed, teeny-bopper garabage pop the world has ever seen? I don't usually tell a person what media they should or should not enjoy, but I would expect someone with such a heady moniker to have more discriminating tastes.

And as for Ms. Van Wagner and her letter: I greatly enjoyed how she apparently saw no contradiction between saying that the Constitution hangs by a thread, and that we should all just sit back, relax, and enjoy the news coverage about a singing contest on the TV. Now THAT'S some great doublethink. Oh sorry--that's DOUBLEPLUSGOOD doublethink.

Its because of people like Maxine that the Constitution will be hanging by a thread. Edmund Burke said, "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." So lets all just ignore whats really going on in the world and worry more about pop culture. This is a newspaper. If you want pop culture go buy a teen magazine.

Y'all are a bunch of sad, sad, people. She was just pointing out some of the good things in life. Sheesh go take some happy pills! Go David A!

If you folks cared more about your country than this sweet little voiced boy, we would all benefit.

You will vote for American Idol, but you stay home on election days.

And yet folks wonder what is wrong with America......

you said it Georgia! Liberals have nothing on their mind but Hate Bush, Hate Bush, Hate Bush and if that doesn't consume page 1 everyday, then the sky is falling, the sky is falling.....

The only place the sky is falling is in the world of liberals...as it has been said, liberals have absolutely, positively, NO sense of humor. There is no lighter side of the libbies...as you can plainly see on these pages today...

That's weird Georgiapeach. My husband says the same thing about Conservatives having no sense of humor. I laugh my butt of watching Stephen Colbert every night!
I admit I had a momentary soft spot for Clay Aiken way back but it's just the same old boring music over and over again.
