How terribly sad! I love animals, too. BUT, I think it is interesting that beating your wife is a misdemeanor in Montana (don't know about Utah), but injuring a cat or dog is a felony. Don't people count, too?

If anyone says that animals now have more rights than people don't believe it. I have not found a single case where that was true. It is a falsehood put out by people opposed by animal rights, and is designed to put animal lovers on the defensive.

Much thanks to all those who stepped up and helped with this one. That just makes me sick and sad.

-->"If they're willing to do this to an innocent animal who can't fight back, what would they try to do to a human?" Baldwin asked of the type of person who would burn a kitten.<--
The type of person who would burn a kitten like this WOULDN'T try to do anything to a human who could fight back. The person who did this is a coward of the lowest form, and only has the guts to do something so horrible to a little living thing that CAN'T fight back. Heaven help any infants this nasty human being may come into contact with!
Let us all hope that burning in hell will cause this person more suffering than he or she caused this poor little kitten.

No Reality, I'm not trying to put animal lovers on the defensive--I AM an animal lover and have been all my life.
But right now, I have been dealing with a terribly victimized human being who can get no help from our legal system while her husband has beaten and tortured her for years! I want to see cruelty to people AND animals stopped. There is something sick in a society that allows either one.
It is also true that torture of animals often precedes torture of people--Animal Lover is correct--it's a bit more dangerous to abuse people who can fight back--but abusers often start with animals.
I remember a horrible murder case in Utah years ago in which the murderer had been institutionalized originally for torturing animals--he moved on to people. Because of the mutilations he did on the bodies, the cops knew exactly who the murderer was.
We need to take things like this SERIOUSLY.

There are a lot of people who would do this to humans, they are called serial killers. A lot of serial killers started out killing and torturing animals. It shows the person has lack of emotion to be able to hurt something and not have remorse for it.

Many serial killers were animal abusers as children.

This story just makes me so sad. I have 2 cats who are like my children to me, and these type of stories make me cry.

Very sad story. The world seems to have some very evil people who like to abuse animals, but they also usually abuse humans as well. Good luck to cute little pussy cat. She's a cutie!
