Let's hear it!!!!!! | 1:36 a.m. May 17, 2008
Let's see all the jazz losers cry about the refs and the nba fixing games. Face it - You lost. and you are going to continue to lose. Bynum comes back next season. What do you have? Boozer Loozer. He took less than 10 shots all game. No defense. Pathetic.

Sloan's a great coach. The Jazz almost pulled it out in the end with all those 3 pointers. But, as always, Utah always loses. Oh well.

So, how many NBA championships does that make for the Jazz? I dont think i even need one hand to count. Have a great great summer Jazz fans. Make sure you renew your tickets so you can see the Jazz lose to the Lakers with Bynum back. Have fun. :)
Young Team | 1:40 a.m. May 17, 2008
We are a young team. Let's be positive. We were still playing when Phoenix, Dallas, and Houston were all sitting home. Let's not get on here and rant that we want all of these trades to happen. Let's keep the nucelus together, and continue to improve. Jazz can win this thing by 2010 if they just keep the core together, and keep improving. Enough with negative bandwagon fans getting on these chats and saying that the team needs a huge overhaul
have a great summer | 1:44 a.m. May 17, 2008
na na na na...na na na na...hey hey hey...goodbye....

Man I wish the Jazz had won tonight that would have felt so much better if I had typed it with confetti and streamers at the staples center.

Refs hate Kobe | 1:47 a.m. May 17, 2008
yeah that's right...made you mad didn't it...just reading that title...you had to read and comment...

Well guess what Jazz fans. Why don't you apply your own logic to tonights FT/Foul stats.

The Lakers are up by 15 and all of the sudden in the 4th quarter, Kobe is called for 3 consecutive fouls, 2 of those offensive and the Lakers all of the sudden have a 7-1 foul margin half way through the 4th. Now the 15 point lead is 6 and it's a game again.

a) where's the Kobe superstar treatment there?
b) why didn't the refs call Jazz fouls during that time?
c) Why did the Lakers have more fouls the entire game than the Jazz until the last 2 minutes of the game?

If that had happened against your team you'd be up in arms about this. Well, guess what, I dont' care because you'll have plenty of time to think about it this summer. Look at it this way though - think of all the time you'll stop wasting reading these posts.
new matchups in '08-'09 | 1:47 a.m. May 17, 2008
See you next year with our matchups

Lakers Jazz

Bynam Okur
Boozer Gasol
Odom Kirilenko
Kobe Brewer
Fish DWill

Your team isn't bad - in fact Okur is a freak of nature 3 point shooter/rebounder but I'm sorry. Your team will struggle a bit more when Bynam is back and Gasol and Odom slide down a position.

I feel like I'm signing your yearbook now that the Jazz summer has just started and we won't see each other all summer. So, "To a great friend I met on the Jazz board...Have a great summer" "Stay Cool"

HA-I'm only writing this because you're going to call me an obnoxious Lakers fan and I might as well get in a some comments to make sure I deserve it fully.
Lakers had more fouls... | 1:48 a.m. May 17, 2008
The Lakers had more fouls until the last 4 minutes of the game and in fact had 7 fouls to the Jazz 1 through half of the 4th quarter...this only changed when Sloan called 4 fouls to stop the clock. So where's your theory now?
Why didn't Boston Win? | 1:48 a.m. May 17, 2008
Where are the conspiracy theorists? Shouldn't Boston have won tonight according to your theory? I mean you already think the league gave this series to the Lakers...even though the Lakers had more fouls the entire game until the very last few minutes when the Jazz went into stop-the-clock foul mode.

If the Cavs win game 7 what will you do? Will you say the league decided against a Lakers - Boston reunion because it was too transparant a plan? Not sure how you'll explain that but I have mixed feelings.

As a Lakers fan I want Boston again but as an anti-conspiracy-theorist I want the Cavs to prove you all wrong...choices choices choices.
CP3 or the Spurs? | 1:49 a.m. May 17, 2008
So my question to the Jazz fans is this...Who would you rather see advance to the finals? The Lakers who you obviously hate with every "fiber of your being" (whatever it is that you are always saying) or the Hornets who have CP3, the PG who you know deep down is better than DWill...even has a cooler name...or the Spurs who have knocked you out of the playoffs in recent history as well?

Why don't you debate the merits of that and get back to us. But don't take too long. I won't be reading this board after tomorrow.
Refs again... | 1:53 a.m. May 17, 2008
So, I'm watching this game as a Lakers fan and I have to agree, the refs totally call things one-sided. Why is it that when the Lakers are up by 15 the refs start using their whistles and all of the sudden the Lakers have 7 fouls to the Jazz 1 and Kobe has 3 of those fouls - 2 offensive.

Then it dawns on me...the Jazz fans were right all along, there is a conspiracy. Mr. Stern did not want a blow out so he asked the refs to make it close...See we can play this lame game of blaming the refs. The fact is that this game, the Lakers won and the Jazz lost and it had nothing to do with the refs. If you can't accept that then there's not much we can do to explain it to you.

In case anyone missed it - I'm not complaining about the refs at all in this series. Some Jazz fan will read this and think I was serious no doubt.

Have a great summer Jazz fans. I can hardly wait for game 7...of the Hornets/Spurs that is. Just want to see who won't be playing you.
No blaming refs tonight | 1:55 a.m. May 17, 2008
The Lakers led the Jazz in fouls tonight the entire game until the very last minute. And until the Lakers shot 8 end of game FT so the Jazz could stop the clock, the FT difference was only 5.

When the Lakers were up 15 pts in the 4th, the refs started calling fouls against the Lakers. Until the very end of the game the foul difference was 7 fouls against the lakers and 1 against the Jazz in the 4th quarter. Those extra 6 fouls didn't exactly hurt the Jazz.

So - either way...have fun hating the Lakers all summer. Oh and by the way, they'll be back next year with Bynam...so have fun preparing for that. Of course, AK won't be worried, he'll be on vacation with France - good thing he got his tickets yesterday.
Good think AK has vacation plans | 1:55 a.m. May 17, 2008
I'm not one to rub it in but I did call it in 6 on this board today. Although to be fair i was wrong on the spread, I called it a 15 pt win for the Lakers and it would have been had the Lakers played better defense and/or the Jazz hadn't put on a 3 pt shooting clinic.

Either way, have fun this summer.
Lev from Moscow | 1:56 a.m. May 17, 2008
I want just to thank this team for a very good season. For the ability to fight till the end. For their HEART! Unfortunately Carlos dissapeared in the play-offs and that was the best advantage for Lakers. But anyway without his play in the season we wouldn't come this far. Hope for the championship next season!
Long time Jazz fan | 2:24 a.m. May 17, 2008
Mr. Buckley

You are the eternal optimist but this team will never be much more than it is now. They can make the playoffs but it is a group of slow overachievers that just do not have a takeover guy down the stretch. We have no one who can score off the dribble and the lack of that element will prevent us from getting to that final prize.

Jerry was outcoached tonight as the adjustments were slow to come. Deron had some heroic efforts but down the stretch on four successive possessions he had Kyle Korver wide open for a corner 3 if he had penetrated and dished because Vujacic was cheating over. Now Korver might have missed but that was more avilable and we needed to trade 3's for 2's.

Boozer (5-16 FG) has proven to be a disaster with his forced shots and unwillingness to go after loose balls. His reputation of being soft on defense is true and that will not change soon.

The future is not bright it will have a similar outcome next year (50 wins and 2nd round playoff exit) absent some real changes on this team.
Brettski | 2:37 a.m. May 17, 2008
First! (but I live in CA)

Thanks for a good season Jazz! You did pretty great considering the deck was stacked against you. Maybe you can be like the Lakers when they got Gasol. I say trade Harpring for Lebron or Jarron Collins for Dwight Howard. That is a fair deal, and I'm sure David Stern will be glad to approve.

Good luck next season.
from where I sat | 4:02 a.m. May 17, 2008
The refs WERE bad and the jazz WERE worse.

Go to work Larry. Hard working Utans don't appreciate Lazzy Boozers or playoff vacationers.
One Team Same Result | 4:25 a.m. May 17, 2008
Gee, another exit from the playoffs? Haven't seen that before. Not like, ummmmmm, twenty times before. Gee, lets wait until next season, you'll see. What will I see? Another exit from the playoffs? Another exit of one of the big guys? Who will fail to show up next? Boozer, Okur, Kirilenco? Another loss to a team that should have been beaten? Another season of no defense and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn offense? Another same ol' same ol' SSDD season?

The bottom line is it's not the refs, it's a bad team and a bad coach with a bad owner. The Jazz have class at least. I really hate the Lakers mostly because I hate LA. My favorite team is whoever plays the Lakers. It's not because I am a Jazz fan, I really am not. I can't be, I can't watch horrible basketball especially against the Lakers. Yes the Jazz are capable, but they really do suck and were lucky to have gone as far as they did. Good luck on your vacation Jazz, there's next season, you'll see and another and another. Another exit, another team with the same result. Go Celtics!!!!
jazz good guys finish in the mid | 4:31 a.m. May 17, 2008
My wife is a Laker Fan. I love here anyway. She gave me sympothy after game six. I should have called Jerry Sloan and told him that Phil Jackson was going to go all out for this win. The Jazz are young and may get better next year, but as long as teams like the Lakers and Others can steal top Quality players without giving up anything in return, it is hard for Honest teams to compete. Pau Gasol and Dirk Fisher were gifts. Without them the Lakers would not have made the playoffs. So Laker Fans take a course in manners and hope Santa Clause is always good to you.
Out jazzed by fisher | 4:36 a.m. May 17, 2008
Nice game for Derek Fisher! Have fun on your vacation AK-47
Sinan | 5:27 a.m. May 17, 2008
Many thanks to the Jazz, made us to live that playoffs excitement. No doubt, we are a good and young team. What happiness to be a fan of this team. See you at next season. Bye 4 now.

I think all of the Pro-Lakers comments that are being made on this post are done by the same person. Find something else to do with your time.
Too Little too late | 6:51 a.m. May 17, 2008
I was thrilled the Lakers won. Fisher played so well as did Kobe, despite the fourth quarter refereeing. I don't think you Jazz fans can cry about anything except too little too late. Had there been more time....perhaps you could have squeeked it out. Boozer did not have a good game. Please, no whining. Lakers out played you.
Vern | 6:53 a.m. May 17, 2008
We deserved to lose with those classless parasites that
chanted: "Cancer, Cancer" every time Derek Fisher got the ball.
BOOOO....zer | 6:54 a.m. May 17, 2008
The Jazz are a great team and they have some great talent. My concern with them is that there is only one player who plays with any sense of heart or killer instinct and that is Williams. Nobody else seems to be that "I'm going to take over the game and will us to victory" guy. All the great teams have that. The Bulls had multiple guys in their glory days, the Lakers have that now and did back when they were winning championships. A few of our guys (Boozer) seem to shrink away from adversity rather than step up and challenge. Also, his lack of defense really hurts this team. When Jerry left Boozer out for an extended period in the fourth and let Millsap play, the Jazz were actually competing. I say they should trade Boozer and get an interior scoring center that will take it to the hole and play some D!
Chuck Keilman | 6:57 a.m. May 17, 2008
The truth is that the Jazz were never in the game. For all intense and purposes the game was over in the first quarter. I will never understand why Jerry puts up with the 3 point shooting. The Jazz suck at it and they don't defend it either.

This was a disappointing performance and a lack luster finish to an otherwise fine season.
Anyone Notice? | 6:57 a.m. May 17, 2008
Nine of the first ten comments on this story are by the same person. Wow! Get a life. Talk about needing vicarious self-esteem through a sports team.

Thanks Jazz! Prepare in the off-season and good luck next year.
Freaking Brain-Dead Laker Fans.. | 6:58 a.m. May 17, 2008
First of all, its' BYNUM you idiots. You treat that overrated player as the next Shaq and you can't even spell his name right? "Bynam." Yep, you guys sure are fans. When did you decide to be Laker fans again? When they started leading the conference?

For the few Laker fans posting here that AREN'T brain-dead:

You guys were clearly the better team from beginning to end, as much as I hate to say it. I wish you terrible luck next round though, as I'd sooner root for the DESPISED San Antonio Spurs than your club. Eh, actually, scratch that. I don't care who wins that series. Hopefully the Hornets will advance so I'll have a series to watch...and a team to root for.
John | 7:00 a.m. May 17, 2008
If you think the NBA is conspiring against teams from ittle TV markets in favor of teams from big TV markets who bring many more dollars to the NBA in the form of huge TV contracts and advertising and exposure. If you think they conspire to make their MVP look larger than life by assisting him to keep a high ppg average by many, many trips to the foul line. If you think they conspire by allowing endless hand checks without a call against them and that the fouls called against them only came when the game appeared to be over then you probably also believe that the WWF also conspires so they can put on a big show to attract huge audiences and big bucks. If you think this why do you pay outrageous ticket prices to watch when the money could be better spent almost anywhere else without the huge buyer's remorse at the end of the season.
rj | 7:06 a.m. May 17, 2008
You laker fans make me sick! So the lakers had more fouls? Its the trips to the foul line that really count. The fouls called on the lakers were side out most of the time, while the ones against the Jazz always seemed to end with a laker going to the free throw line. Why didn't the celtics win? Is there another super star on the other team or what?!Give me a break!
DC Hilton | 7:28 a.m. May 17, 2008
The difference in this series was one man - Derek Fisher. Of course, most of you know that back story there. The Jazz are a great organization and may never win a title. Still, believe it or not, winning isn't everything. I'll be watching them next year from home in Washington, DC. What, you think I'm going to watch the Wizards?
Nevada Fan | 7:34 a.m. May 17, 2008
Thank you Jazz for a wonderful season! Although you're a young team, you made it to the playoffs on your own merits without veteran Derek Fisher; that's a significant accomplishment. You are gaining valuable experience for the future and will be formidable contenders for a championship for years to come. I look forward to the next season. Have a great summer.

Great Series Jazz!!

It is kind of funny, but a few balls bounce the right way, we win that game last night, we almost win game 5 with the few balls that could have bounced our way.

This year it bounced to the Lakers.... Congratulation Laker Fans...Talk all the crap you like, but you know this team scared you!! Otherwise you wouldn't be talking this way...I personally look forward to how the Jazz will pound on you again next season, and for seasons to come!
Good luck in the rest of play-offs to you and your team

Jazz Fans, this core team is a awesome, and gutted out a lot a controversy! They can compete with any team in the league...even with a Bynum!
Purple and Gold | 7:56 a.m. May 17, 2008
Lakers advanced, Jazz lost.
Jazz Fan | 8:00 a.m. May 17, 2008
Why is it that only the Laker fans have anything to comment on.
All they can do is Complain about the number of fouls on Kobe and then rub our noses in it.
It would be nice if the Laker fans were ever half way decient.
The Lakers did get a few questionable calls go thier way. Kobe gets away with sticking his leg out against Harpring and gets a foul on Harpring. They called that an offensive foul last year on Okur.
I guess that is what you cann the MVP treatment.

If he wasn't so head strong, other fans might like him like they did Magic Johnson (Class act).
MLR | 8:01 a.m. May 17, 2008
Defense wins games as always. The interior defense of the Jazz is weak other than Milsap did step up last night. Without another big who can play defense I believe we are always going to be at a disadvantage. How many times this year have we seen perimeter defenders helping in the middle only to leave their man for wide open shots? This has to be addressed in the off-season if we are going to ever advance deeper into the playoffs. Remember also fans that just because we advanced the last two years doesn't mean we will in the future. Portland, Minnesota, and yes even Denver will be better next year. This is a very competitive league, and other franchises will be looking to make the necessary changes to improve themselves, so don't take for granted that the Jazz will walk into the playoffs next year
Laker Fan | 8:07 a.m. May 17, 2008
Hey it was a good series, the Jazz players are a class bunch of guys and Jerry Sloan is one of my favorite coaches. As for the fans, the more you hate a team the more power you give them. Your weird obsession with the Lakers and deep hatred just gives them more power over you. Most people learn that before their out of elementary school.
Great fans focus their energy on their own team not hating the other team and their players. You have great enegy in your arena but untill you shift that energy to your team and get rid of the hate you will never win it all.
Boozer better than you think! | 8:14 a.m. May 17, 2008
I'm a Laker fan, I would take Boozer in a heart beat. He's a team player a class guy that had a great year. Kobe and the Lakers didn't get past the first round the past 4 years. Boozer is a huge part of the reason the Jazz have done so well the past couple of years. You Jazz fans that want to get rid of Boozer are crazy. If you guys ever win a championship with this team, Boozer will be a big reason why.
To all Jazz fans | 8:19 a.m. May 17, 2008
Don't listen to some of these Laker fans on here they are still in Jr. High. No one with any class gloats when they win. I'm a life long Laker fan that understands in the heat of battle, a lot of stuff is said and a both teams are fighting for everything they can get, including the fans. It was a great series that almost went 7 games. No hard feelings, it's no fun playing a Jerry Sloan team that is tough as nails.
GoodGuyGary | 8:23 a.m. May 17, 2008
I am very sure the first 10 comments are from the same guy (maybe more is comping).
Agree with Long time Jazz Fan | 8:24 a.m. May 17, 2008
I couldn't agree more with you sentiments. This hapless bunch NEVER APPEARS TO LEARN. The same mistakes, the same ineptitude. Okur and Boozer HAVE TO GO. They are nothing but glorified SCRUBS who will never amount to anything in this league. With those two as our starters, we will never achieve anything.

I never want to see Jerry Sloan on the sidelines again. The guy's time is done. 20 years as coach and absolutely NOTHING to show for it. His senility becomes more and more apparent with each passing season. He has equally to do with Salt Lake's lack of nightlife for the free agent shunning. We should have gotten rid of that old man the day this team started rebuilding. Instead, we're going to be reliving the same freaking NIGHTMARE season after season, like in that Groundhog Day movie. Different faces, same pathetic postseason result.

I realize that this team is young, so I am willing to give it one more season before I completely abandon them. Anything short of a Game 7 Western Conference Final next season and I'm through with this hapless and pathetic bunch.
Hugh G. Hater | 8:27 a.m. May 17, 2008
Why do all the Laker fans have to come in EVERY jazz thread and diss the team? Don't you have anything better to do?

Boozer needs to be traded.
Props to memo and ak for stepping up at the end.
fossil | 8:29 a.m. May 17, 2008
we need to let fess get some experence this year and hope to draft a large body to knock down the dunkers. also i hope we still have new yorks number one draft pick which should be high in 2010. might get another super star.
of course | 8:34 a.m. May 17, 2008
no wonder laker fans see no problem with the refs. i wouldn't either if my team went to the line 11 more times a game than my opponent.
BBKing | 8:36 a.m. May 17, 2008
I hate to say it but the Jazz need to put Boozer on the trading block just to see.

The match-up with Gasul caused real problems for him. That is not the problem. The problem is that Boozer refuses to play solid, team defense. How many lay-ups did the Lakers get because Boozer would not move his feet, switch over to help defense and instead would simply take a swipe with his hands? That is how you get reaching in fouls. You play defense, first and foremost, with your feet. Put your body where it needs to be.

Boozer has had a few years to learn how to play defense. He has not learned a thing. Heck, even Deshawn Stevenson now of the Wizards credits Sloan for teaching him how to play defense.

Put Boozer on the trading block and see what you get. If they can get a solid defender who can score 8-10 points a game, pull down 7-9 rebounds a game and can play serious defense, the Jazz come out ahead.

Remove the 5 or 6 lay-ups Boozer gave, we are playing game 7 in Los Angeles.
Lakers R Evil | 8:39 a.m. May 17, 2008
Naw, the series was over in game 5, when the refs called phantom fouls against the Jazz and let the Lakers hammer the Jazz inside without calling anything. Game 6 was called pretty evenly.

Now the Jazz need to figure out how to get Boozer and Okur to play well int he same post-season game at the same time. Now I need to root for the winner of the Spurs-Hornets series while laker fans cheer their MVR (most valuable rapist) on to another title.
Lakeshow | 8:44 a.m. May 17, 2008
"...SAME AS IT EVER WAS..." Talking Heads Lyric

- Jazz star power forward chokes in the clutch (Gasol owned Boozer defensively);
- Jazz fans embarrass themselves (throwing items at the Lakers bench in the 4th quarter. You guys are super classy. You can repenent on Sunday.
- Jazz fans embarrass themselves more talking about moronic regarding conspiracy theories and refs.
- Another superstar takes over late in the 4th Quarter to defeat the Jazz at their "invincible" home court.

- THE LAKERS GOING AFTER A 15TH TITLE WHILE JAZZ FANS CELEBRATE A THE DIVISION TITLE THAT NO ONE REMEMBERS.

The refs did not make the Jazz shoot 33% and give up 16-2 fastbreak points in the first half. Face it Jazz fans, barring injury, the Lakers will own you again for the next three years. Get used to it. The only person I feel sorry for is Derron Williams, hats off to your effort.
philly | 8:47 a.m. May 17, 2008
To all of you Fakers fans saying that we need to stop complaining because the officiating was all against you in the 4th quarter. Amazing what happens when a game is actually called the way that it is supposed to be. This series will be remembered by Kobe's deliberate elbow in game three (which if it were a Jazz player there would have been a suspension), and the wonderful shoves in the back for rebounds at the end of game 5. It is things like this which made me really stop caring several years ago. Until the Jazz become a huge market team, with a semi-god player who is well above the rules of the game and the laws of the land, Utah will never be able to compete.
PD | 8:53 a.m. May 17, 2008
Jazz have had a good run this season. They are a tough young team and can only get better. Tough game to watch, last night. Not winning in front of the Laker fans was probably not in the NBA plans. I will miss the rush of the fans. Man, Utah has great fans! That may be the best part of the game! ....Next year!
PurplePeopleEater | 8:56 a.m. May 17, 2008
Should have just watched the fourth quarter. Would have kept my blood pressure down.

Too bad the team went into the game thinking they were at home. Guess maybe they learned a lesson (I hope).

I also think teams wait way too long to start using treys to catch up. Had they done it in the 3rd and it worked, then they might have had a better chance of winning. Had it not worked in the 3rd, they'd have the 4th to try something else.

Either way, Jerry's disdain for defending the trey will always be an albatross around the team's defensive neck.

Maybe as the team improves as a trey threat themselves (the players are there now), their trey defense might pick up.

Was a fun season, albeit frustrating at times. But we Jazz fans were spoiled for too long with the steadiness of Stockton and Malone and Horny. It's only Williams' early years. Give this team time without to much change (except maybe to add a superstar) and they might be something worth watching.
